How to delete albums from iphoto?

There is clear instructions from within iPhoto to delete Journals but nothing about deleting albums.  How do I go about doing this on an iOS device - iPad or iPhone?

Albums are deleted using the Photo app or by syncing with your computer.use the Photo app to delete photos in the Camera Roll, All Imported and Last Imported albums.
To delete other albums start iTunes on the computer that you normally sync with and connect your iPad. Select your pad in the left column of iTunes on your computer. At the top of the right column select Photos.
In the list of Albums below deselect those albums you want to delete. That click on Apply in the lower right corner of that window.

I cannot delete albums from iPhoto.any advice?

Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS.  So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. More information means you get better assistance.

  • How to delete photos from iPhoto and hard drive at the same time.

I need to remove some files from my iMac G5 in order to free up some space. I have some photos on my machine that I would like to delete. Is there a setting I can change so that I completely remove a photo from my machine when I delete the iPhoto thumbnail? If not, what is the best way to remove photos from my machine, and not leave thumbnails in iPhoto to photos that no longer exist on my machine etc. I'm using iLife 08 and the most recent version of Leopard on a third generation iMac G5.

To remove file from iPhoto and the HD simply put the files in the iPhoto trash and then go iPhoto Menu -> Empty trash.
This works if you're using iPhoto in the default setting, where the files are copied to the Library on import. If, however, you have a referenced library, you'll need to trash the files in your own folder structure yourself.

  • How to delete albums from photos

Purchased a iPad Air at the w/e, loaded some pictures using iTune, now would like to delete the albums. What is the correct way of doing so

    Hey urbkuhl,
Thanks for the question. I understand you wish to remove synced photos from your device. The following article outlines how to do so:
    iTunes: Syncing photos
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236
To delete synced photos and videos from your device
    1. In iTunes, click the Device button in the upper right corner. (If viewing the iTunes Store, click the Library button in the upper-right corner first.)
    2. Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
    3. Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
Note: To delete all synced photos, deselect "Sync Photos from" and, when asked, click "Remove photos."
    4. Click Apply.
    Enjoy your new iPad Air!

  • How to import albums from iPhoto 4..?n

Have put a lot of work to group my photos in my previous iPhoto. Now, got the '08 (7.0) Version and imported the Library. All the pictures seem to be in, even more, pictures, I believed to be erased..
But don't have a clue, how to import the albums, so the photos are grouped again as they were..
Working in Leopard (10.5.2). My other iPhoto with albums is still on another (internal) hard drive with Tiger as OS.
Any idea, how to import the albums ?
    Thanks
    bafomet

In iPhoto's General preferences pane check the checkbox "Show Item Counts".
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How to import Albums from iPhoto 2 to iPhoto 6

Just got a couple new Duo2Cores to replace/compliment some G4s; the G4's all had the old iPhoto 2 installed. How do I get the Albums to transfer from a G4 iPhoto 2 to iPhoto 6? The individual photos copy over fine, but I'd sure like to preserve all my albums!
    Thanks!

    pcbjr:
As Dochollerday pointed out before running iPhoto6 on your old library it's wise to make sure the permissions are OK and there are no locked files (why they get locked is a mystery but sometimes they do - I happened to me). A very quick and easy way to achieve both issues at once is to download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administartive name in the owner and group sections. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.

  • HT4236 I've run out of room on my hard drive. I bought an external drive and exported all my albums to the external drive then deleted the albums from iPhoto. I want to sync both from my ext drive and new albums in iPhoto. No dice. Help!

I've run out of room on my hard drive. I bought an external drive and exported all my albums to the external drive then deleted the albums from iPhoto. I want to sync both from my ext drive and new albums in iPhoto. My photos on the devices get wiped out when I sync to iPhoto since I deleted all the albums. But when I sync to my hard drive (where I maintained the album structure) the photos are copied to my iPad but lose all the hierarchy and folder structure. Now I have to scroll through thousands of photos to try to find the one I'm looking for. Before I sync any more devices I want to know the following: 1) can I restore the album structure on my iPad by using the photo cache? 2) is there a way to sync both new iPhoto albums AND pictures in the folders in my hard drive? And 3) how can I keep the photo hierarchy structure from my hard drive intact on my devices?

    Don't do that.
Copy /Photos/Photo library/ to the external.
    Hold Option and launch iPhoto.
Select Choose library and select the Photo library you copied to the external.

  • How do I delete photos from iPhoto

I want to delete "crap" photos from iPhoto, ones that quite simply are "*****". How do I get rid of them once and for all. I notice I can do command delete and they go to the garbage I empty garbage and they are gone. The problem is that when I go back to "photos" iPhoto has saved the space where they were including a space that was the original size of the photo - for example it will show a space of 2.4 meg size. What's up with that? Anyone know? Thanks in advance.

I do that and the photos are gone. But when I return to the events album that I deleted them from, iPhoto has saved the space they occupied and it appears that this "space" takes up as much hard drive as the full photo even though the space is blank.

  • How do I delete albums in iPhoto '11

After upgrading to iPhoto '11, I'm having trouble with my folders and albums.  When I created two new albums, iPhoto made duplicates of each of them.  Then it wouldn't let me delete the dupes or the original albums.  The problem albums are inside folders I created. I tried selecting the album and right-clicking to delete it. Nothing happens.  I tried selecting it and choosing "Delete Album" from the "Photos" menu. Nothing happens.  I tried deleting all the photos in the album, then repeating the previous deletion methods. The albums are still there.  According to their icons, they are NOT Smart Albums!  How can I make the dumb things go away?

A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.

  • I delete photos from iPhoto but after backing up my computer they are back! How do I stop that?

I delete photos from iPhoto but when I back up my computer the library rebuilds them!

After I do a backup it rebuilds the iPhoto.
How do you back up and what is the "it" that rebuilds iphoto? Do you mean this process of arching/deleting? It may have damaged your Library.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    Regards
Going forward: another way of archiving:
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
Now you have two full versions of the Library.
    3. On the Internal library, trash the Events you don't want there
Now you have a full copy of the Library on the External and a smaller subset on the Internal
    Some Notes:
As a general rule: when deleting photos do them in batches of about 100 at a time. iPhoto can baulk at trashing large numbers at one go.
You can choose which Library to open: Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
You can keep the Library on the external updated with new imports using iPhoto Library Manager

    You can't.

  • I tried moving an album from iPhoto to Pictures.  It took the entire iPhoto Library.  Now I can't use it, and I cannot open it.  How do I get it back to just iPhoto?

I tried moving an album from iPhoto to Pictures, but the entire iPhoto Library moved.
I now cannot open iPhoto.  How can I get it back?

A folder named Library popped up in Pictures.  I didn't want the entire Library, just the one album.
When I open the Library Folder in Pictures, I get sub folders dated with years.
When I open the subfolders, I just keep getting more folders.
This looks like you were viewing your iPhoto Library; the contents of the Masters folder. Is your original iPhoto library still there?
Where do you keep your iPhoto library? In the default location in your "Pictures" folder?
