How to delete all contacts on my iPhoto 3 GS and start over

I ended up syncing to multiple sources and have massive duplicates in my iPhone 3 GS - I want to delete all contact on it and resync only to my exchange server at the office
I have turned off sync contacts on the iPhoto with both e-mail accounts (MobileMe and exchange) and have turned off all sync of contacts and calendar in iTunes - now I want to clear all contacts off of the iPhoto (there are almost 4000) and re-enable just exchange but can not find out how to do that in searching these forums or in the iPhoto help on Apple.com

I inadvertantly sync'd both through iTunes and MobileMe when I got my 3GS. I found several posts/apple articles about backing up and deleting my contacts on my iMac. It sounded like a hassle with risks of losing them.
I restored my phone as a new phone. I did not restore from a backup as that would have restored the duplicates.
Once it was restored I had to re-sync everything. Obviously making sure that I was only syncing through MobileMe.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. How to delete all contacts in thr e iPod Touch????

The synchronization with Outlook does not work properly: some contacts appears 2 times, some appears 3 times and some appears 4 times in the ipod.
And the sync hsa deleded several contacts in my Outlook.
So, I want to delete all contacts in the iPod and then do a new clean sync.
But I do not find an option to delete all contacts in the phone.

Is there a particular reason why you want to delete the contacts all at once? The only way you can delete all the contacts all one time would be to wipe the device. This will complete erase all data on the phone including the contacts.
You want to make sure you backup your device uisng the desktop manager. Once you perform the wipe you can then backup your contacts using the desktop manager and just make sure to uncheck the Contacts when backing up so they are not added back to your phone.

I had previously told my iPod Touch to sync my contacts, calendars, and e-mail accounts with my computer (Mac) and sync via MobileMe. Now, I'm giving away my iPod Touch and I don't want to new owners to have access to my calendar, contacts, and mail. I've gotten rid of the mail by deleting all my accounts, and in iTunes I've stopped syncing of calendars, contacts, and mail, but there's still my contacts and calendar on my iPod. Is this because of MobileMe or just because it didn't take them off the iPod? My contacts on 'mac air' comes from contacts of iPad2 thru sync of iCloud,
and contacts of 'Contact' on iPad2 come from the 'export by Worldcard HD on the same iPad2'.
Now Renewal of contacts by Worldcard HD needs to be exported to 'Contact' on iPad2 again.
To avoid repeated data storage, deleting the current data in 'Contact' becomes critical.

Part of your post is confusing to me. If your intent is to delete all your contacts for the App called Contact;....
The data files are located in;
~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook
~ is your user directory. It can be accessed by holding down the option key whilst clicking on the "Go" menu within Finder.
The contacts themselves are stored in the .abcddb file, but the Images and Metadata files are also part of the data.
I should think that deleting the entire contents of the AddressBook directory should clear your contacts. Make a backup copy of that directory before performing any deletions.

Hi Cynthia! If you are syncing from something like Gmail you can go into the iPhones Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>(account you are syncing)> and turn off contacts. It will ask you if you want to delete them from your phone - just click delete. Exit Settings and turn phone off by power button (not all the way OFF). Then re-open Settings>mail, Contacts, Calendars>(account you are syncing)> and turn Contacts back on - This is where you need to be careful - When you turn contacts back on you will be prompted to delete or save the contacts already on your phone. CLICK DELETE. You should now have only your synced contacts on your phone! Hope it helps!

Two choices: 1. Plug your 3G in, iTunes running, hit the restore button. Restore the phone as a new device. Eject when finished, do not sync. 2. Plug the phone into a wall outlet(can take several hours), then: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings.

Iphone Sync deleted all contacts on google, Mac Address Book and Itunes

I have my phone synced to my google contacts. I did a sync trying to sync itunes, google and my address book and now everything has been deleted. I created a back up a month ago but when I do a restore from back up, it still does not give me my contacts, some how it is still syncing to google which is now blank. It's weird because the restore even gives me texts and photos I had on the back up date but it won't give me the contacts. I have tried changing the settings on the phone so it won't sync to google, I even changed my password on google hoping this would stop teh sync & allow the backup to show my contacts. I have tried using an iphoen extractor as well but since my phone is not jailbroken I am unable to use the file. I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Iphone syncs to google contacts but last sync deleted all of them (google & address book). I do have a back up which I know has all the contacts but when I do the restore, it still is syncing to google so I still don't have any contacts. IPhoto crashed - Reset and Start Over?

I need help! iPhoto crashed while I was deleting events and now all of my photos are gone. The strange thing is iPhoto still shows I have 25,045 photos but there's nothing there! HELP! I've tried every suggestion I could find in the Forum, but nothing has worked so far. At this point I would love to start from scratch and reset iPhoto so I can start rebuilding my photo library. How do I do this? I've already copied all of the Masters into a separate folder so I don't risk losing all my pictures in the process. Thanks for your help in advance!

If you have done everything suggested then you must do a new library and that also is one of the suggestions
To protect your existing library (including your photos IF you are operating in a default library - a managed library) simply drag it to the desktop until you have finished and have everything working - then delete it
And you always should have a current backup in addition - if you do not you WILL lose your photos someday (and your other files and data) - remember to backup soon and often

I have not had to deal with this problem for a while but according to my last post you simply go to address book in contacts and then do multiple selections and just hit delete but be warned I think once you do that if you sync your phone with OVI suite the phone have all of its contacts deleted.
There is a way to specify in OVI suite which copy gets preference meaning whether what is on the phone is reflected on OVI suite vice versa. If you use the first option if the phone has 5 contacts and OVI 200 once you finish the SYNC OVI will have only 5. It works in the same way in reverse if you do it the other way. But I am not sure whether the setting is to be set in the sync settings on the phone or on OVI suite I never had much success with this setting I always ended up duplicating or deleting contacts as I never really bothered to really figure out how it works.

I made no effort ever to add the contents of my iPhone to my Macbook. Ever. Right now in my Skype app that I have only Just downloaded have I just found ALL of my iPhone contacts in it's contact list. NOT GOOD. I am looking for a way to remove my iPhone phone book from the Address Book on my Mac and then remove ALL those same contacts from the Skype contact list.
I am now removing my iPhone contacts from Address Book on my Macbook one by one manually. Is there a shorter way of doing this?

Are you using iCloud?
What is the file format you intend to use to import contacts? If it an Address Book Backup (.abbu) then perhaps you can import it. That would delete your entire Address Book and replace it with the backup.
I might suggest simply moving your entire ~/Library/Application Support/Address Book folder to the Desktop. That seems rather drastic though, and if your contacts are stored in iCloud it might not make a difference.
