How to delete all mail messages in account

I can delete mail one by one, but is there a way to delete all emails in an account?

Where's the Edit menu in the iPhone Mail app??
@James - there is a Delete All option for the Trash mailbox, but not for any other mailbox. You can tap Edit then manually tap the selection circles next to each message, then tap delete. But, that's very inefficient! Your best bet is to access the mail account from a computer mail client (Apple Mail, Outlook, etc.) or a webmail interface and delete all the messages there.

If the emails have been previously deleted (I.e. in the trash folder), tap Edit at the top of the list. You should see a delete all button at the bottom. If the messages are in a standard folder, they need to be handled one at a time.

    hello,
can someone tell me how to delete all mails together on IPad?

You can only delete them individually to the Trash folder. From there you can delete them in one go - Edit> Delete all from the bottom!

  • Accidentally deleted all mail from one account - how to retrieve?

I apparently deleted all of the mail from one of my email accounts on the iPhone. They are not showing up in the Trash folder.
The emails are still present in Entourage and have not been deleted from the server.
Is there any way to bring them back into the iPhone? I really need them for my on-the-go responses since I spend half my life waiting in offices!
    Thanks,

    OK - another update.
If the message is downloaded into Entourage first then it won't downloaded onto my iPhone at all. I haven't made any changes to my account.

  • How to delete all mail in IPAD 1 and keep mail untouched in Gmail server.

How can I delete IPAD1 mail while keeping original mail at the server ? The problem is that when removing mail from my GMail account on my IPad1 the original is also removed from the Server. I want to free thousands of mails listed on my IPad Google account saturating and congesting my tablet but without deleting the original emails at the server. Sorry to repeat. But I want my problem be clearly stated. However I would like to receive a copy of the mail I get in the server, so that I can trash everyday's copies without touching my Gmail account at the server.  Maybe I have been redundant, please excuse me.  Cheers !!!  DavidSpartacco

It has been some time since I used POP3 on my iPad, it is just not a very good way to manage email between multiple devices. There is no check mark to simply change the Gmail account from IMAP to POP on the iPad. You will have to delete the account from the iPad removing all the email already stored on it. Once you have changed the server settings at Gmail you have to re-create the account on the iPad. Now that it is POP3 you should have a setting in the iPads settings to not delete the emails from the server when deleting them from the iPad. Once the new account is created on the iPad all the email on the server will download again and have to be deleted from the iPad. You will have to reset other devices as well, although Gmail may be able to handle both settings at the same time but they may conflict.
For your use, you may simply want to just use Gmail through Safari where you will be viewing your email directly from the server through the web browser. No messages are stored on your iPad, they are all managed on the server through your web browser. There is also a Gmail app available which may also leave all the messages on the server although I have not experience with the app.
When I had an email account set to POP3 I had the iPhone and iPad set to not delete messages from the server when I deleted them from the device. I had my home computer set to remove them from the server when they were deleted from there. It does work although each device is independent, reading a message on 1 device would not mark it as read on the other device. I ended up having to administer the email on 3 different devices even though they were the same account.

I am receiveng empty mail messages in IPad2 and can not select them for deletion. They have no headers, no from or to, nothing? Any clues on how to select them? Edit in mail does not work either.

Try turning the account off and on : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then tap the account on the right, slide Mail to 'off', exit settings and go back into the Mail app, and then go back to Settings and slide Mail back to 'on'

To correctly sell or transfer ownership of a Mac, even to someone in your family, you should follow these instructions.
Disregard anything you are unable to accomplish.
Refer to What to do before selling or giving away your Mac
If you enabled FileVault, disable it in System Preferences > Security & Privacy.
"Deauthorize" your iTunes account. Same for Audible if you have one.
System Preferences > iCloud > de-select "Back to My Mac" and "Find my Mac".
Sign out of iCloud. Select "Delete from Mac" when it appears.
Next: Remove all your personal information by completely erasing the Mac's internal storage.
If your Mac shipped with a grey System Install DVD, start your Mac with that disc inserted in the optical drive while holding the c key to boot from it instead of its internal volume, which should be erased before selling it.
If your Mac did not ship with discs, boot OS X Internet Recovery:
using three fingers press and hold the following keys: ⌘(command), option, and R.
With a fourth finger press the power button to turn on the Mac.
Keep the other three fingers where they are until you see the "spinning globe" icon.
This method forces the Mac to download its originally installed OS from Apple's servers, which will not require an Apple ID to install.
Remove any Open Firmware password if you created one: select Firmware Password Utility from the Utilities menu and remove it.
Select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
Remove any partitions you may have created.
Select the Mac's hard disk icon, then select the "Erase" tab.
Select the "Security Options" button and erase the disk.
The more "securely" you erase the disk, the longer it will take.
The fastest method is sufficient since all but the most expensive techniques and equipment will be able to recover securely erased data.
When it finishes, quit Disk Utility.
Select Install Mac OS X from the Utilities menu.
An Apple ID will not be required. If a prompt for an Apple ID appears, return to Step 5.
Do not create any user accounts.
When it finishes, shut down the computer.
If you want to install the bundled apps that were included with your Mac, restart by using your Applications DVD if one was included, and install the bundled apps. Apps bundled with newer Macs that shipped without discs cannot be transferred. Its new owner must purchase them from the Mac App Store using his or her own Apple ID.
If the Mac is being sold to someone outside the family consider the following additional information:
System Install DVDs that came with your Mac should remain with it forever, and must be included with the sale.
Consider including your AppleCare certificate if you bought it, printed documentation, even the box if you still have it. AppleCare stays with the equipment and is transferable.
Execute a bill of sale showing the Mac's serial number.
Once no longer in your possession, remove the Mac from your devices in My Support Profile.

  • How to delete all mail settings and setup mail as if new installation?

Grrr! Comcast had my Mom change all sorts of email account and ISP settings, to the point where nothing works. I want to delete "everything" and start from scratch as if I just pulled the Mac out of the box. Will just deleting her email account be enough? Should I delete any files from the library? Etc.
    Thanks!

All you have to do is delete the account. This will also delete all her downloaded mail if this is a POP account.

  • How to delete ALL text messages in Inbox at once? ...

Hi All,  I'm a newbie here so be gentle....
I've noticed that opening new texts has become increasingly slow over the last few months - ie I go to open it and it takes about 8-10 seconds before the message actually appears.  I am assuming that this may be because I have allowed my inbox to accumulate no fewer than 1650 text messages.
I would like to delete ALL of them at once, if possible, rather than having to delete them one-by-one, which will inevitably take about 382 hours to do so at this rate
Many thanks in advance for any suggestions on this matter
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I am afraid I have not tried the 6110 but if it works the same as other Symbian phones you can choose the Mark/Unmark > Mark All option to select all SMS and then simply select Delete. Should do the trick.

  • How to delete all mail?

Soon (I hope) my MacBook will be returned Apple repair (10 days waiting for a part) There will be 1000+ emails waiting for me. I don't want to have to delete them one at a time. Sometimes if I highlight many at one time, it opens one of the e-mails & then I have to start from the beginning .How would I easily delete them all at once?

    Hi Moses243,
Don't try to highlight each one.
If you want to get rid of ALL of the emails in a box, simply click on one email in your account, be it an Inbox or Trash or any other folder you have set up and press the Apple and "A" keys at the same time - this will highlight all of the emails in a box/folder - then just hit Delete.
Or, if you have some you want to save, go thru the ones you want to delete by holding down the Shift key and mouse click as far down on your list as you want - then hit delete.
    Good Luck,
    John

  • How to delete all sms message at once?

I've gotten myself into a mess where I have over 900 SMS message (texts from Outlook, Facebook, friends messaging me, etc.) and I want to try to just CLEAR them all out - don't want to save any of them.
Is there an easy way to do this, or do I have to 'touch/delete' each message individually?

You can delete threads by swiping from right to left across the thread on the main Messages screen. However, you can't clear all of the threads at once.
