How to delete ALL my iTunes playlists at once?

Got a problem guys
I'm using iTunes 10, and everytime I add an album of music it creates a playlist automatically for the album.
I recently added a large directory of music and it automatically created several hundred playlists in my itunes.  I discovered I could only delete them individually, which is a nightmare.
So then I tried outright uninstalling iTunes.  I uninstalled, rebooted, downloaded a fresh itunes 10, re-installed and started itunes back up and all my library and all my playlists somehow re-appeared.  I want to uninstall EVERYTHING on iTunes and start fresh.  So I uninstalled again, removed all my temporary files on my computer, rebooted and re-installed and all my itunes **** re-appeared again on the fresh install.
How do I either mass delete playlists, or install a 100% fresh version of iTunes with no playlists?
Thanks.

Hi,
this is one more of Apple's weird functions/bugs, whatever.
just click on the first one (playlist), and then keep the "backspace" (←)button pressed until all are gone.
Cheers

  • How to delete all ALERTS in iCal at once?

Over the years I have added repeating Events with Alerts to iCal on various devices (some of them passed on to my relatives). As a  result I get plenty of Alert emails or sounds. I find it onerous to go through all repeating events to delete the alert. Hence my question: how to delete all Alerts at once?
Thanks for any suggestions/pointers/ideas. Cheers, Veit

    Hi John,
Thanks so much for your help with this problem. I am trying to remove alerts for a couple of specific shared calendars (which I can edit) but am having some difficulty due to my inexperience with applescript! I am also not sure where else to go for help solving this problem.
My plan is to run your script a couple of times specifying one calendar at a time by name.
This is the modification I made to your script:
    tell application "Calendar"
      activate
              delay 0.5
display alert "Removing all alarms from your editable calendars" message "This process may take some time and is permanent. Are you sure you want to do this?" buttons {"Yes", "No"} cancel button 2
              set calname to "Consultant_on_call"
--- repeat with myCalendar in (calendars whose writable is true)
repeat with myCalendar in (calendars whose name is calname)
repeat with myEvent in events of myCalendar
      delete display alarms of myEvent
      delete mail alarms of myEvent
      delete sound alarms of myEvent
delete open file alarms of myEvent
                        end repeat
              end repeat
display alert "Removing all alarms from your editable calendars" message "This process is complete." buttons {"OK"} default button 1
    end tell
Are you able to tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks again.

  • How to delete all emails in inbox at once on iPhone 4S?

I read a previous discussion about this, but that was when I was on iOS6. Is there a way to do this on iOS7? I've got hundreds of emails in my inbox, and evertime I try to delete a bunch of them, more just come flooding in.

I've got tons in the server, too, because I don't go in and delete them there after they have been loaded into my desktop inbox in iMail, just in case I deleted something in iMail and need to find it again. Emails are automatically deleted from the server after 2 weeks anyway, but they seem to stay in the iPhone inbox. Wish there was a "delete all" for the iPhone. Hoping maybe in the next OS.

  • Could someone please tell me how to delete all my many emails at once on my iPad 2? Thank you

Could someone please tell me hoe to delete all my many emails on iPad 2 all at once? Thank you

You can't delete them all at once on the iPad. You have to select them one at a time. Once the emails are in the trash, you can Delete All from there.

  • How to delete EVERYTHING in iTunes Match? (Playlists & music)

I've downloaded a cd last night and when I drag and dropped it in my iTunes it went mad.
I have now hundreds and hundreds of playlists without anything in it, I've tried deleting it one by one but it is a mad job, I don't even know if they acutally delete...
So I thought maybe I just delete everything in my iTunes Match because obviously these playlist have been uploaded to the cloud since they have nothing in it it went very quickly...
I've read how to delete all my albums from iTunes Match, but nowhere how to delete acutally EVERYTHING that is in it, including playlists.
So I hope someone out there can help me out with this because I want this sorted out...

I did create a new playlist saturday on my iPhone, I went on holiday so it didn't had a chance to sync with my Mac.
Yesterday I came back from holiday and I have worked on it for a whole day, so shouldn't the playlist have come the minute my iTunes had a chance to sync with my iPhone? But they didn't...
They came when I added the album, so that's why I think it's connected with that album.
But if it is actually from the playlist I created on my iPhone, how do I solve this?

  • How to delete all duplicate songs in Itunes in one step?

How to delete all duplicate songs in Itunes in one step?

Apple's official advice on duplicates is here: Find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as lost ratings and playlist membership, or that sometimes the same file can be represented by multiple entries in the library and that deleting one and recycling the file will break the other.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background, this post for detailed instructions, and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed.)
The most recent version of the script can tidy dead links as long as there is at least one live duplicate to merge stats and playlist membership to and should cope sensibly when the same file has been added via multiple paths.

  • HT204302 iTunes deleted all of my playlists!

iTunes deleted all of my playlists. Booted up and they had vanished

If you didn't backup your playlists they can't be retrieved if they are deleted, you have to recreated them: iTunes: How to backup and restore playlists
However you could check to see if your original library still exists. Try holding down the Shift key in Windows when launching iTunes 7. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\ (or C:\Username\Music\iTunes\ in Vista). Look in there and see if you have more than one library file (they have the extension .itl) If you have more than one try opening them in turn, you may find your original library is still intact: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file

  • If I reinstall Itunes will it delete all of my playlists, genres, etc?

    Help,
First time IPod owner who loaded 1,800 songs most of which had bad info (ie: wrong genre, artist showing as title, etc.) I've spent hours making changes in ITunes trying to get them right. I am having troubles connecting my IPod to ITunes and the online support says I need to reinstall ITunes. I looked back at the "music" folder where the files are stored and none of the changes that I made in ITunes show there. So again I ask:
If I reinstall Itunes will it delete all of my playlists, genres, etc?

under normal circumstance, it won't touch them. i've done at least 8 upgrades without losing any genres, playlists or song information.
but, it's best to insure against disaster and back up your music files and library files prior to an upgrade. (actually, it's best to have a regular backup regime even if you aren't planning on upgrading.) this Buegie post is a good resource on those matters:

copy the entire iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music or media folder) from the old computer to the exact same location on the new machine.
your iDevice will just continue to sync with the same old library as if nothing happend.

  • How to delete all authorized computers in iTunes?

How to delete all authorized computers in iTunes?
I have problems to sync my iphone to my pc and add music and photos.

De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.
For more information on authorization and de-authorization: iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.

Can anyone tell me how to delete all the trial programs installed on my computer. I purchaced a Satellite P205-S6347 and it came with so many trial programs and junk that I don't want on my hard drive. I was told by Office depot that they have a program from toshiba that removes all the trial programs and increases the speed but at a cose of seventy dollars. Isn't there a fix from toshiba that I can do myself and save some cash?
I suggest that you start with the PC Decrapifier:
    http://www.pcdecrapifier.com/
I'll not go so far to call what the Office Depot folks were pulling a scam, but there is no program from Toshiba to do what they claim.  They were just trying to drum up business. I suspect that they might run a few uninstall programs and maybe even run the Decrapifier, if they knew it existed.  You can do that and save $70.  Spend it on an external hard drive and start doing regular backups.

  • How do you delete all of itunes on your pc

I need to delete all of itunes on my computer..  I attempted to do this via the control panel through add/remove programs. This did not work since when I re-intalled itunes from this site, it still came up with all my apps and music,. ..

No.. I was trying to rebuild if possible.. I have an issue with itune on my computer.. it runs slow.. and I am unable to get into the itunes store on my computer. I did have the iphone 3G..   yes the original.. I now have a 4S..    and only 90% of my apps downloaded to the phone..  actually had to use icloud to get them.
Right now none of my music will go over. The music does shoe up on the phone but it is a shadow like text. You are not able to play the music. Meaning that I have downloaded new music on the iphone and it will play since it is in bold lettering..  but the music that was on my PC and down loaded on the phone is in a shadow mode.
The apple store folks told me to delete it all and start from scratch. I have backed all of my itunes apps and music on a separate hard dirve, so if I start from scratch I am able to transfer ( I hope ) everything I had to the new itunes...
    Can you help.

Currently, iMatch is turned off on my computer, as I do not want to upload any more songs. If I turn it on, will it upload all songs that are currently in my library? Is there another way that deleting them one by one?
You must enable iTunes Match on the new computer. The best way to accomplish what you want to do is to create a new, empty library by launching iTunes while holding down the Option key (Shift on Windows) and choosing "new library." Do not let iTunes scan for new content, but do enable iTunes Match on the empty library. Once the scan is finished you may delete tracks from the cloud. When you are done switch back to the main iTunes library.
