How to Delete an Encrypted .dmg?

I created an encrypted .dmg in Disk Utility, but now I can't delete it. I've moved it to the trash and hit Empty Trash, but it says it can't delete the .dmg because it is in use. How do I delete it? I'm running the most recent OS on a 2010 MBP. Thanks!

Thank you! I first ejected it from Finder and then moved the .dmg file to the Trash, then hit Empty Trash. I can't find it in Spotlight now, so I'm assuming it's totally gone, thanks!
I'm going to create a bogus word file and do a "secure empty trash" to make sure it's fully gone. Do you think that is necessary or that it will work?

The user immutable bit (uchg) is the same as the Finder lock, as described above by X423424X. It's a weak lock, with only a warning.

I set it in Terminal, thus
$ sudo chflags schg my_encrypted_disk_image
and unset it also in Terminal
$ sudo chflags noschg my_encrypted_disk_image
(Note that, when you unset the system immutable bit, the change won't be reflected immediately in Finder, but the item can be trashed nevertheless.)

How do I get an encrypted dmg on a network share to automatically mount at login?

I need to mount an encrypted dmg that is stored on an SMB share to automatically mount at login. I've got the SMB share to mount at login as a "Login Item," but I can't get the encrypted dmg to mount.
A related question:
I've got a shell script that mounts my encrypted image, copies data using rsync, and then unmounts the encrypted image. I tried automating this using a cronjob, but cronjobs are nut run as $USER. Since the cronjob isn't run as $USER, the cronjob does not have access to the $USER's keychain and cannot authenticate to the encrypted dmg. Any tips on getting either of these to work?

I don't use SMB so I'm not sure whether this will work, but try it. Open a TextEdit window and type something like this:
smb://user:password@server/path-to-file
Make the obvious substitutions in the text, then select it and drag it to the Desktop. You should get a bookmark file. Double-click it to test. If it works, you can rename the file and put it anywhere you like. Add it to your login items.
If the above doesn't work, try again with "cifs" in place of "smb".
The "user:password@" part may not be necessary if the password is in your keychain.

Unable to backup/delete/change encryption key after SSRS 2008 R2 installation

I am having issue with SSRS 2008 R2 Std installation with Sharepoint integration. hope may get some help from here.
During the SSRS configuration in the SSRS Config Mgr
the following error message come up when access web service URL/backup/delete/change encryption key:

I can avoid the issue when use Local system account to run the SSRS but domain account is required for Sharepoint integration.
Does this have something to do with how the windows user profiles are configured?

Several encrypted .dmg files show much more free space that the total size of the file.

I have several encrypted .dmg files on my macbook air running OS X 10.10.1 I have had them for years with no problems. Now suddenly, in the finder, at the bottom of the finder window where it shows the number of items and free space for a disk, it shows more free space than the full size of the .dmg file. Typically it will show about 200MB for a 100 MB file. Obviously, this is a bug, but I can find no information or discussions about it anywhere.
Does anyone have the same problem? Any ideas how to fix it?

I rebuilt the spotlight index as suggested.
I tried it twice, rebooting the computer a couple of time along the way.
Below you can see the actual file as it occurs in the finder in its unopened form.
Now, below here is what the finder reports at the bottom of the finder window when the file is opened and added as a virtual disk.
Note that the total file size is 102.5 Mb
Yet the finder says it has 234.5 Mb free!
The actual size of the files on the disk add up to about 60 Mb
This occurs with several similar dmg files.
Any other ideas or experiences would be appreciated.

Mail preferences in encrypted DMG accessed even not mounted

I keep the contents of ~/Library/Mail on an encrypted DMG which i mount here when i need.
Sometimes, when i close mail and unmount volume mail mustn't get new messages, but it does !
Even if I reboot after unmounting.
I cheched ~/Library/Mail after unmounting ad it's empty. But if i launch mail it downloads new messages and recreate files.
Why is it happening? Is it a cache problem? how can i solve it?

Is there any chance anyone can help, this issue is becoming rather annoying especially as this iMac is less than a month old!

If it's the DMG file that's mounted on your desktop as The hatter points out, it should also appear on the sidebar of your Finder window with a little triangle pointing up next to it. Clicking on that triangle will unmount the DMG and make it disappear.
If you actually want to remove the DMG file permanently from your system (i.e., "delete" it), delete it as you would any other file; move it to the Trash or right click on it and select Move to Trash. But if, for any reason, you have to reinstall Office, you'd then have to download the DMG file again.

Encrypted dmg won't mount

I created an encrypted .dmg file in disk utility to secure a small amount of info. I did a time machine backup of my machine, then did a clean install of OS X (getting ready to sell my mbp) and later tried to access the dmg on the time machine external drive. When I try to open the .dmg I am prompted for the password (this is NOT a forgotten password issue) and then I get the following error, "The following disk images couldn't be opened....no mountable filesystems"
I also did some searching on this and tried to do command line "hdiutil attach", and get the same no mountable file systems error.
I also tried entering the password and saving to keychain, but no results.

Solved my own question with some more searching - the solution that worked for me is described here - step by step:

Open Terminal.app (Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app)
Once the terminal opens, type 'cd' without quotes.
Navigate to the folder that contains the .dmg file. In this article the .dmg file is located on the desktop and is called LabVIEW.dmg
Click on LabVIEW.dmg once and hold the mouse button down.
Drag the mouse into the Terminal window, and then release the mouse button. This will add a static link after the 'cd' command we typed earlier. You should see something similar to this:
Delete the actual file name (in this case LabVIEW.dmg) so that only the file's folder path remains:
Press the Enter key.
Type 'hdiutil attach LabVIEW.dmg -shadow' without quotes.
(replace LabVIEW.dmg with the name of the .dmg file you're trying to mount).
The Terminal will pause briefly and then mount the .dmg file.
National Instruments only recommends using this solution for .dmg files that are read-only. This is due to fact that a shadow image is created that contains any changes to the .dmg file. Since all National Instruments .dmg files are read only this method will work without issue in Mac OS X.

Make sure you donot have any data in cube. If you have some data in cube, then you will not be able to see Delete option.
Right click on the cube-->Delete data.
Then double click on the cube>Goto Edit mode> select the IO under that Dimension> right click> now you will be able to see the Delete option (provided you have deleted all the date from Cube)
Then right click on Dimension-->Delete

ADF Desktop Integration : How to delete the table in Excel?

Hi,
I am using Jdev 11.1.1.3.0 and Excel 2007 for Oracle ADF DI, I had created an ADF table using pageDef file in the excel. Now I wanted to delete that table and use a different pageDef file.
I could not find a way to delete that table.
I deleted full row of tables and then I used different pageDef file and created a new adf table. But when I am running this version of excel, I am getting runtime exception and excel is getting corrupted.
My question how to delete the table not corrupting the Excel.

You can delete the table by selecting the top left column (of the table) and then select delete from the ADFdi tab.

If you want to delete the rows in the table control and simultaneously delete it from the database table, then you can implement a 'DELETE' functionality specific to your table control. Have a MARK field (you will find that in the screen attributes of the table control -> give a name for the MARK field, you will find an additional MARK column at the beginning of your table control). You can check whatever rows you want to delete from the table control, call the delete module.

Those are the data of the installed apps. Don't listen if someone says that it's an iOS, because it is not. On your iPhone, go to general > usage. It will show you all the programs installed on your iPhone. If you click any of them you will see how much of "others" it has (documents and data)
There's no way to delete it if you want to still have those apps. You can reinstal those which has the most "others" but after some time of usage, it will raise again.
