How to delete an imessage contact ?

A few months ago i saved a number under the incorrect name and was messaging a friend under the wrong name (if that makes sense),
I deleted the contact as i no longer wanted that number or contact in my phone at all but everytime i go to type in that incorrect name in a new message it comes up with the new number and the old number and it is so confusing. I no longer need the old number at all anymore but no matter what i do it will not go away. I deleted all my imessage history from mycomputer, nothing happened. I even restored my entire phone and again nothing happend. Today i swapped iphones with my sister, completely restored both, and once again it still appears. Please help me!!

Everything is deleted but you still can recover most:
1. Sync back (or re-download for free) all apps and iTunes music/media
2. Contacts, calendars, notes can be recovered/synced if you are syncing them with a cloud service (iCloud, Yahoo, Google) or apps on your computer (never rely on the backup for these).
3. Photos should be imported into an app on your computer, then synced back to the phone
5. Messages can be imported to your computer using various computer apps
6. You will lose phone settings, app data.
Restoring as new will be a bit of a PIA.  Whether it's worth it for this purpose depends on how annoyed you are about seeing the cache of this contact...

  • How can I delete an imessage contact?

Hi. I have an iphone 4s. I have deleted a specific contact, and he is no longer in my contacts. Yet, when I try to write a new text message, if I hit the add button to search my contacts, his name and number still come up with the blue imessage icon. Can anyone tell me how to delete this info from my phone?
    Thanks!

I believe (and this is just my opinion) this information is in some type of message history just like email addresses were held in a history file and couldn't be deleted except with a restore as a new device. If someone knows something else, I'll be happy to listen to them too. I really don't think you can get rid of it without a restore.

  • How do i get iMessage Contacts Other than my friends

iMessages only works on IOS 5.
If you friends have IOS 5 on their phones and they have a data connection then it will use iMessage.

How to delete all my data from my old 4s

It is easy. You just need to reset your iPhone to factory settings. Go to Settings>General> Reset> Erase All Content and Settings. All data on your iPhone will be erased.
Tips: Be sure you really don't need these data any more. If you are not sure, you can backup your iPhone with iTunes before doing this.

  • How to delete synced iMessage

I logged in iMessage in two iPhones with the same Apple ID and found that the iMessage history in iPhone #1 is automatically synced in iPhone #2. And I could imagine it will happen if I logged in another iPhone or iPad. Is there a way to permanantly delete my iMessage history? Is it stored in iCloud?

Tap and hold the message bubble (not the !), then tap More in the popup then tap the trash can on the bottom left

  • How to delete an iphone contact that does not show up in the address book

    hello--
i am a new iphone 4s user and i had a quick question that i have not been able to find an answer to.
when i am using imessage, there are a few contacts that come up as options but yet they are not located in my address book or contacts list-- they are simply only an option when creating a new text imessage.
i would like to delete these contacts from the imessage list of options because they are numbers that i no longer need but i am not able to delete them.
someone please help me fix this problem so i can get rid of these contacts and not send any messages to them instead of the actual correct person!

Do you see any exceptions listed?
    * Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: Exceptions
Do you see any empty entries in the Show Passwords window?
    * Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"

  • How to delete calender and contacts from Sync?

    Hi,
I tried to sync my cals and contacts with iPhoneMacMobileMe, and there are always duplicated. So I decided to sync everything over mobileMe only (iPhone MobileMe and MacMobileMe). I unselected the checkboxes in iTunes to sync theses data with iPhone. But on the iPhone, there's still data from last syncs - both from calender and contacts. How can I remove those from the iPhone, so that only mobileMe calenders and contacts are shown?
    Thanks

I just, 30 minutes ago, learned, I think, the answer to that. I tried it and it worked for me. I had duplicate events and "sets" of calendars.
Delete the MobileMe account on the iPhone.
    Restart the iPhone.
Add the MobileMe account back and turn on Calendar and Contact syncing.
You'll be asked if you want to merge the data. Tap yes.
This should, after a few minutes, set you up with only one set of calendars and contact groups.
Sync only over MobileMe and don't via iTunes.

  • How to delete hundreds of contacts on iphone

Icloud goes into my pc and takes every name, phone number, and email address from every email stored in my computer and places them in my Contacts list on my phone.  Which means I am going to have a wreck trying to dial my husband as I fish through 1471 contact names each time I try to dial a number.
My iphone 4 is two weeks old and has completely stopped working twice - with an error message saying that I need to restore through Itunes.  I did that - twice and then decided to use icloud the second time.  That created the 1471 contacts fiasco.
How can I delete the names without having to do them individually.  As soon as I attempt to delete 1471 contacts, my phone will crash again next week and icloud will download the same 1471 contacts again.
I hate spending my evening hours researching this headache.

Try going to the Address book from the Ovi Mail section. There you can select all contacts with a master checkbox.

  • How to delete a "double" contact list

For a mistake I imported the contact list of a friend in my iPhone 3gs.
Now in contact list as "all in the PC" i've his 500 contacts.
I can't delete one by one (i spend too much time), I try it by iTunes or other way but i didn't find a solution...
    Someone can help me ???

You will need to restore in iTunes from a point before these contacts were copied over.

  • How to delete calendar and contacts from iPod Touch

I have sold my iPod Touch and did a restore before I send it to the buyer. I was able to delete everything except my contacts and calendar info. I have the software upgrade and do not want to lose this! Other than going in and deleting each item one by one, is there another way to get that info off of the iPod. And, I did uncheck all of the boxes in iTunes for calendar, contacts, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The software upgrade is tied to your iTunes account, not the your iPod. It'll stay on as long it doesn't have to be restored, but once the buyer restores it, there'll be no way for him to get it back.
Still, if you completely restore it, the contacts shouldn't be on there anymore.
    Hope I could help.

  • How to delete a corrupted contact entry on Centro

I have a duplicate contact in my Centro contacts.  One of them is apparently corrupted, because I when I try to open it it reboots my device so I can't delete it.  On my desktop, there is only one copy of this contact, so deleting it on the PC side doesn't seem like an option.

well, I'm feeling pretty lame by this time.  Now I can't get the contacts to sync at all.  I've installed FileZ, deleted the contact database and recreated the empty shell.  But when I sync, either OTA from the device or by USB cable, no joy.  I still have a blank contacts database.  What am I missing?  I'm usually fairly tech savvy, so this is very weird.

Edited: I deleted my EAS account and set it up again, at which point it synced the Contacts and everything was fine.  Momentarily.  While the corrupted contact is gone out of Outlook and the conduit is set to Computer overwrites handheld, I synced and surprise-the corrupted contact is back on the handheld.  but it's still not in Outlook.  where the h**l can it come back from when it isn't there to sync?
Edited: In defense of Palm tech support, I used their live chat last night and finally got this resolved.  I had to rename my backup file and my address file in the same directory as the Backup file.  Then do a hard reset of the device and HotSync with the computer.  I am happy to say the corrupted contact has not reappeared, and all is well.

  • How to delete thousands of contacts at once in address book on the computer

I have a separate issue with my contacts duplicating our of control in the cloud. This has resulted in probably 12,000-18,000 contacts instead of 1,200. My iPhone is resorting to hosting no contacts and I can't get to my MobileMe contacts anymore because it generates a Slow Script message. It's becoming a lost cause requiring a nuclear solution. Any help?

Somehow, and I really don't know how, I ended up with two account names for the same MobileMe account , i.e. Fred and Fred (2). MobileMe support was able to help me resolve this, because they had the keys to scrubbing one of the accounts, and erasing everything from my MobileMe account. We didn't solve the problem the first time, but I eventually got a real "Genius" who knew where to point me and what to do. Thankfully.
My 900+ contacts (I guessed 1,200) had become 11,413 (again, when I wrote the message, I guessed). I've since trimmed it to app. 700+ and all my calendar and contact syncing seems to be humming. To say that this is a relief is an understatement. I wasn't feeling like MobileMe for a long while.
Now, I live a life in the cloud and I carry dynamite in my pocket!
Anyhow, thanks for the replies. Thanks to Apple for helping me correct things.
    Peace,
    Graham

  • How to delete the contact name in iMessage memory on iphone5

Please help how can I delete the contacts name under iMessage memory?
Eg.: when I start to sent text messages to person name start with K which even contacts are already been deleted from my
            Contact list still pops up.

After MANY , MANY blogs and discussions and failed attempts I've figured this out. When you go to write a message the contact that was deleted still shows up next to the contact is a letter I with a blue circle all you have to do is tap it then it gives you the option to delete recent contact and lord behold that contact is permanently gone no back up syncing needed or anything !!!
