How to delete company installed security software

I have a 8707 that has company installed security software that locks the BB in 2 minutes when it is not being used.  I have wiped the BB, but the software is still there.  Security options settings under Options cannot be changed either.  Cannot turn off password enabled or change security timeout.
Company laid me off, but allowed me to keep the BB, but what a pain to enter 8-9 keystrokes every time I want to use it!

I inherited a used Curve 8320 (for AT&T) and it has the Security Timeout also set at 2 minutes. I have no idea what company owned the phone previously and set the policy, but it's mine now and I'm wondering how I can remove the company policy so I can set the timeout to something longer than 2 minutes.. Help please !  Thanks in advance, I'm new to BlackBerry's so if your answer needs to be very technical, please give extra-helpful instructions (that is, don't assume I know a lot!) Thanks

  • How can I find currently installed security software?

Recently someone donated an iMac to our organization. I have not worked on a Mac in a couple of years, and do not have extensive experience. I downloaded out standard Antivirus and am getting an error message that "The selected drive already has security software installed that is incompatible with Symantec Endpoint Protection. I looked through Applications, but cannot find anything that looks familiar to me. Is there a way to figure out what "security software" is already installed. I sorted the Applications by Application Category, but didn't see anything that jumped out at me. I appreciate any help you can provide. The system is running Yosemite 10.10.2.

    A
The first thing to do with a used computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. You—not the original owner—must do that. Changes made by Apple over the years have made this seemingly straightforward task very complex.
How you go about it depends on the model, and on whether you already own another Mac. If you're not sure of the model, enter the serial number on this page. Then find the model on this page to see what OS version was originally installed.
It's unsafe, and may be unlawful, to use a computer with software installed by a previous owner.
    1. If you don't own another Mac
    a. If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller—not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine is very old and has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. Preferably, install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
    b. If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for a MacBook Air. You should have received the media from the original owner, but if you didn't, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To start up from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then restart the computer and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
    c. If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should start up in Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
    d. Some 2010-2011 models shipped with OS X 10.6 and received a firmware update after 10.7 was released, enabling them to use Internet Recovery. If you have one of those models, you can't reinstall 10.6 even from the original media, and Internet Recovery will not work either without the original owner's Apple ID. In that case, contact Apple Support, or take the machine to an Apple Store or another authorized service provider to have the OS installed.
    2. If you do own another Mac
If you already own another Mac that was upgraded in the App Store to the version of OS X that you want to install, and if the new Mac is compatible with it, then you can install it. Use Recovery Disk Assistant to prepare a USB device, then start up the new Mac from it by holding down the C key at the startup chime. Alternatively, if you have a Time Machine backup of OS X 10.7.3 or later on an external hard drive (not a Time Capsule or other network device), you can start from that by holding down the option key and selecting it from the row of icons that appears. Note that if your other Mac was never upgraded in the App Store, you can't use this method.
    3. Partition and install OS X
    a. If you see a lock screen when trying to start up from installation media or in Recovery mode, then a firmware password was set by the previous owner, or the machine was remotely locked via iCloud. You'll either have to contact the owner or take the machine to an Apple Store or another service provider to be unlocked. You may be asked for proof of ownership.
    b. Launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive—not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the  Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive.
    c. An unusual problem may arise if all the following conditions apply:
OS X 10.7 or later was installed by the previous owner
The startup volume was encrypted with FileVault
You're booted in Recovery mode (that is, not from a 10.6 installation disc)
In that case, you won't be able to unlock the volume or partition the drive without the FileVault password. Ask for guidance or see this discussion.
    d. After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. If you're installing a version of OS X acquired from the App Store, you will need the Apple ID and password that you used. When the installation is done, the system will automatically restart into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
    e. Run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. To upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, get it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the original owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed—you have to repurchase them.
    4. Other issues
    a. If the original owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're irrevocably linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Mac App Store Customer Service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
    b. If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able to  authorize it immediately under your ID. In that case, you'll either have to wait up to 90 days or contact iTunes Support.
    c. When trying to create a new iCloud account, you might get a failure message: "Account limit reached." Apple imposes a lifetime limit of three iCloud account setups per device. Erasing the device does not reset the limit. You can still use an iCloud account that was created on another device, but you won't be able to create a new one. Contact iCloud Support for more information. The setup limit doesn't apply to Apple ID accounts used for other services, such as the iTunes and Mac App Stores, or iMessage. You can create as many of those accounts as you like.

All commercial "anti-virus" software is worse than useless on a Mac and should not be used. Symantec is one of the worst. It's worse than the imaginary "viruses" would be if they really existed, which they don't.

  • How to delete a partial ios software update ?

As we all know, ios 7 requires 3.1 GB free to download/ install.
after deleting tons of stuff, I made 3.2 GB free and the ios 7 download commenced OTA
as time went on, the download speed steadilly decreased so,after 1.5 hours, it was only 1/4 way downloaded and I had to go to work. as i left the house i lost wifi connection but figured it would just resume when i returned home.
Now that I am home, the download still shows that its 1/4 through, but it says that i have to make 3.1GB free! The partial download has obviously taken up space, but theres nothing left to delete-  I need everything thats left.
my question is- how do i delete this partially downloaded software update, so that 3.1GB will be free again? I have toggling airplane mode on and off again and also tried a hard reset, but the partial download still remains and is still taking up space. I looked in itunes app on the phone and checked downloads, but theres nothing there; prob because its not a music download
    thanks

I should have said that there is now 2.8GB free, so the update must be 300Mb. I dont have enough rubbish to delete in order to gain 300Mb, which is why I need to delete the partial software download

  • How to delete spyware and keystroke software somone put on your computer?

Someone recently put some spyware on my computer, and i'd obviously like to find it and delete it. I'm not very computer savvy, and I don't know the different types of spy programs used, therefore I don't know what to look for. I would really appreciate it if anybody could help me out , as I don't want this person accessing my personal information.
    Thanks!
    ibookG4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

How do you know they put spyware on your computer?
Last time I heard, there's no spyware for Mac.
If you really are worried about it, get yourself a copy of Little Snitch:
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/10426
Also turn off "Automatically log in as:" in System Preferences > Accounts > Login options.
    Hope that helps a little.

  • How to delete an expired security certificate?

Each time I open a fresh Firefox page, I get a message popping up 4 times informing me that a security certificate for a cashback set-up that no longer exists, has expired. How do I get rid of it?

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Alas, I have tried restarting Firefox but can find no "Safe Mode" in the menu at the top of the screen. My Firefox is old, having come out of Noah's Ark all of 4 years ago, an eternity for the weirdos that design these things. (Version 13 something). So the problem is still there. Not that it means much, as all I have to do is click on each of the four or five irritating messages that pop up each time I start the bloody thing. And anyway, as Firefox has decided to stop "supporting" my version, I'll soon have to find a navigator that I can still use. Or buy a new Macintosh, which I'm certainly not prepared to do; planned obsolescence has its limits.

As you know star schema concept of Info cube. Fact table has all the Key figures and Dim table has all the Char. OR you can go to Manage infocube screen to delete data based on Request ID #,

  • Installed security software. now, Itunes does not recognize my Ipod

Yesterday I loaded Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0. When I opened Itunes today and plugged in my Ipod nothing happened. It did not recognize my IPOD.

I tried your suggestion with my iPhone and it fixed the connection problem for the iPhone.  So then I tried the same thing with my iPod but Windows told me that the driver was up to date.  The iPod still will not connect to iTunes 11.4.1.  Any other ideas?
See the further information section of Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates. The link there on device connectivity might help, or you might need to tear down and rebuild again.

  • How do i update security software?

how do i update security software?

Apologies I didn't word my question correctly...I meant how do I update exhisting security software on my mac. I have not purchased additional software. Thanks for your reply. Basically my concern is that I have unknowingly exposed my computer to a virus. I had a hoax skype call come through "ONLINE NOTIFICATION" and I answered it. It told me that my computer was not protected and there was a security threat- and to visit their website. Which I did in my initial moment of panic. Quickly realised that it was phony and that any notifications would not come through skype, duh. I am worried that I have now exposed my computer by visiting the website.

  • Installing new software on my MBA via AE

I have a iMac that is connected directly to the newest AE via cable. I also am getting a new MBA that is free standing as well as getting the Office 2011 software.
Simple question (hopefully a simple answer): how do I download/install the software (disk) onto my new MBA without screwing up Office 2008 on my iMac?
    TIA for your helpful answer.

    Thanks for your help.
I guess I did not make myself clear enough in the question.
How do I set up my two computers to recognize each other so that I can install software to my new MBA? Do they have to be physically connected or is the AE enough to connect them? Do I have to set up sharing on BOTH machines?
I ONLY want the Office 2011 to be on my MBA; not on my iMac. I know I can install 2011 on and computer that has 2008 on it; they are two separate products.
    Once again, thanks!
