  • How to delete documents and data off of iphone 4s

Im trying to free up some room on my phone. I got rid of some apps and movies and did what i can but when i plug my phone in there is more Documents & data then i have as apps and music. i just want to get ride of some documents that are saved in my phone but  dont now hot to delete them.

Document & Data on iPhone is junks files including browser history, cookies, logs, caches of photos and videos, database files stored by your apps. You’ll notice that some apps while being very small themselves have accumulated a lot of data. An example of this is shown in the image below, you see that the Facebook app is 109 MB whereas the Documents & Data stored is 1.2 GB. This 1.2 GB is what goes into your “Other” data.
These apps on iPhone don’t provide a way to delete Documents and Data, uninstalling and reinstalling the app is not the best option here. With the help of CleanMyPhone or PhoneClean you can delete the documents and data on iPhone without deleting the app itself.

  • How do I delete documents and data on the iPhone 5?

I've been seeing responses such as turning it off, so I did. However I didnt change my memory at all and when I found out whats using it up it was message with (saved) next to it. So i deleted some conversations from other contacts, but it barely dropped to like 1 GB. I check and check to see what else is being used up and music I don't have a problem with and I always delete pics and apps, like google drive. Can someone tell me how can i delete even more of documents and data?

That is certainly a possible interpretation.

  • Ihave over 7gb of saved text messages that i cant delete, ive deleted all my texts and it still says that. ive read that backing up with icloud and turning off documents and data would eliminate this issue... well how...?

icloud will not allow me to backup my phone because of the 7gb of data its too much for the 5gb free space on icloud and i have the documents and data turned off in the icloud settings so i dont understand whats taking up all the space? the only thing i have on the settings is my photos and thats only 4gb. SOMEONE HELP ME!!!

I have this identical problem.  For a while my group texts didnt show up on my ipad.  Then one day they did, maybe everyone in the group started using the same os version or something.  Ever since my first reply to the group there have been complaints of multiple threads.  I can not find a pattern for when my group text's decide they want to create a new thread. (it doesnt happen every time)  Everyone in the group has deleted the thread, we've all toggled imessage on/off etc.  There still hasn't been a solution.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • How to delete documents and data from your iphone

iphone 5s has a lot of things listed in "documents and data" section- and in the "other" section of itunes when updating phone- is there a way to know what is on there so i can delete it?  itunes does not give more information...

These are 2 different things and have to be address 2 different ways.
The other, that shows up in iTunes on the bar is memory the device is not recovering, for what every reason.
To reclaim that you need to wipe the iPhone and setup as new.
The Documents and Data in the iCloud storage.
Tap the Doc or data type
then swipe right to left on the data and press delete

When I plug my iPhone 4 into my Mac is tells me that Documents and Data is taking up 2.63GB of storage. I have no idea what this is and it is taking up more storage than any of my other tabs (Music, Apps, Photos etc.) I would like to clear this storage to make room for photos and music. I would also like to know where this is coming from.

  • Document and data deleted by mistake

I accidentally deleted my Goodnotes files from setting→icloud→document and data, and found that all the notes stored in the Goodnotes application have also been deleted. These notes are very important for my work, could anyone tell me how can I restore my notes? I use a ipad air and windows 7 pc. Thank you very much for your help.

The only way to get those documents back is to restore your iPad from a backup, either from iTunes on your computer or from iCloud:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
or if you saved the documents to your computer, copying them back through iTunes. If you did not have a backup and did not transfer the documents to your computer, then unless they are somewhere else such as in Dropbox, they're gone.
    Regards.

  • I want to turn off Documents and Data iCloud syncing (in Sys Prefs on iMac) but it insists on deleting all docs from my iMac! HELP!

I don't want to sync my 'Documents and Data' with iCloud any more (iMac, iPhone and iPad).  When I go into iCloud in System Prefs and try to uncheck the Documents and Data box it tells me 'all docments stored in iCloud will be deleted from this Mac'.  Really need to keep all my docs and quite shocked that iCloud would even consider deleting them from my iMac.  Does anyone know any way round this other than backing everything up and restoring it after it's been deleted? Thanks!

Hi doodlebuglondon. I understood you throughout the thread as I have the same situation. I turned it on, then decided immediately to turn it back off. It then gives you the scary warning, assuming you understand under what circumstances documents got stored in the iCloud. Like you, I had no idea. But I did see 5 GB of 5GB available on iCloud Storage, which was a hint. So I opened a folder with some Pages documents, turned off Documents & Data, clicked the big scary "Delete from Mac" button. If it had really deleted my iWorks documents, like you, I would have had to restore perhaps 40 or 50 disparate folders. Whew!
Did it work out OK for you? I note you were very clear in pointing out you hadn't actively put anything in iCloud, but who knows whether Apple magically puts stuff in iCloud for you. I couldn't find that explained anywhere in Apple's "instructions", but I'm sure it's buried in there somewhere.

  • What is documents and data and how do I remove it?

When I updated my phone I noticed documents and took up a lot of space. What is it and how do I remove that?

I made some significant discoveries on the Documents and Data battle last night and wanted to share.
    1) Turning off Documents & Data made no difference in the 4.7GB chunk of mystery space being used up by D&D on my iPhone 4S.
    2) Removing Texts did help, but I was still left with 4.1GB of mystery space. I had one text message with my son in the USAF that had lots of videos and pictures. I made sure to save them to my Camera Roll before deleting. But that one text was over .5GB. So Texts matter.
    3) Backing up and Restoring just my Settings did not eliminate any of that 4.1GB.
    4) Reseting my phone as a new phone initially did, until I added my two email accounts.
    JACKPOT.
    5) My Gmail account, upon extensive review, retains all the same folders on my phone as it does in my Gmail account on the computer (which I've never once visited). I looked in each folder until I came across one that said All Mail...containing 830 emails that date back to the establishment of that email address in the summer of 2012. On my phone there is no option to delete those, other than the painful process of going Edit>Tap>Tap>Tap>Tap>Scroll>Tap>Tap...830 times. I logged onto my Gmail account on the my computer, visited the All Mail folder, did a mass delete (100 items at a time) and then emptied the Trash
    6) All 830 items were still on my iphone and were not budging without individually being deleted and I couldn't find a Sync with Gmail type option, so I deleted the Gmail account and then added it back to my phone immediately.
BOOM - Docments and Data went to 60.1MB.
The good news is that if you have a Gmail account and need to fish out an old email, you probably can. You have to work at it to make them go away. I had one come in this morning and had to flush it through my Inbox, the All Mail and then the Trash to get rid of it. I've opted to instead use the Gmail app for that account to save me this drama again.
I also use an iPad and through the cloud, had duplicates of ALL my text messages and the gmail account. Which explains the 'your storage is almost full' messages I've  been fighting.
I am happily restoring all my music and plan to spend today in an 80s music haze. I hope this helps someone.
    Good luck to all.

How do you remove GB from Documents and Data in itunes?

Do you mean from your iPhone?
Documents & Data are not taking up any space in iTunes.Delete some apps.
Select the iPhone in iTunes and remove the apps.
Or on the iPhone, Settings > General > Usage.
THis will show how mach space each app and its data is using. You can delete them here.

  • REMOVE Documents and Data... HOW!?

    No, seriously... HOW.
I have tried every **** thing I could find via a google search, and I've read countless threads with countless "well, it worked for me" stories. Nothing is fixing it. I have done everything except a master reset. I have gone to icloud.com and reset D&D, I have done it through my Mac system preferences, I have managed icloud settings via my iphone, I've erased all texts and emails. Heck I deleted an email account on my phone! Nothing changed. NOTHING.
I still have 2.7GB being taken up by D&D. My iPhone4 is only 16GB, and the majority of my space (~8 or 9GB) goes to music. According to my icloud usage, I have 5GB of 5GB. I've turned off icloud and deleted the account off my phone, and deleted apps where I could. It's gotten really frustrating that I can't take a photo or update my phone with out deleting photos or music first, (I know, I know... first world problems). I only have about 30 photos on my phone, too. No videos. No voice memos, no voice mails... I just don't want to do a master reset and lose everything since I read somewhere that if you do a backup, it'll just slap the D&D right back on there. It would just be really sweet to get those 2.7GB back, but I feel like it is a lost cause since there is no real answer. I know apple support just posted a how to about a week ago for this, but I tried both methods. I tried restarting my phone. I tried backing it up again. I tried syncing it. Nothing.
Is anyone just as frustrated as I am?! And is there ANYONE that has a solid answer?

Documents & Data contains... well, documents and data that are being stored/used by the apps on your phone. The only way to get rid of it is to delete the documents/data from the apps that are storing it there or delete the apps that are doing so entirely.
If you go to Settings>General>Usage, you can see exactly how much space each app on your phone is using. If you tap on the individual app you will see details of how much each is using in documents & data.
