How to delete duplicates from iPod

My problem is that I've got two separate iTunes libraries; one on my work computer, and one at home on my macbook.  A couple years ago, I tried making sure both libraries had the same stuff on it so I could start syncing my ipod...but that didn't work out so well.  So now my libraries are somewhat similar, but neither have exactly the sames songs on them.  If I transfer both libraries to my iPod to catch all the songs the other library is missing, I'm going to end up with several hundred duplicates.  How do I fix this?  And mind you, my work computer is a PC, so I'm working on two different operating systems as well.  It's hard to say that I should only use one computer to store my library too because I use both just as much.   I'm at work all day and need my music there...but then I also need access to my music at home during the weekends....

Deleting duplicates is easier, but for your lifestyle of using Mac and PC, it is a bit more complicated.
You would need an portable Hardisk, then consolidate both your libraries into one on the portable hardisk.

  • How to delete pictures from ipod touch

just want to know how can i delete photos from my itouch? and also how i can select what photos to be saved from my computer to ipod touch when it started to synchronize all the files.

You manage the photos in iTunes, not on the Touch.
When the Touch is connected to iTunes, you can use the Photos pane (tab) to select which folder is used (by iTunes) for copying photos onto your Touch. If you don't like the default, which is the *My Pictures* folder, change it to the one of your choice. Then add photos and remove them _from that folder_ and the next time you Sync the Touch, those changes will take effect.

  • How to delete songs from iPod touch 5th generation

How do I delete songs from an iPod Touch 5th genration. We tried many other forums with the swiping method, but when we tried it, a picture of a cloud with a red arrow appeared after tapping the delete button appeared and the song remained.

Go to Settings>iTunes and App Store and turn off Show All. That way only downloaded songs will show in the Music app.

  • How to delete duplicates from iTunes but not hard drive

I'm running iTunes 10 and have my music stored on both my NAS drive and backup drive.  Each track appears twice on iTunes: once as lossless for streaming and and once as compressed AAC files for synching to ipods and iphones.
For some reason, when my PC is turned on after being turned on, the linkstation cannon be 'seen' by iTunes, and therefore if I try to play a track, 'the original file cannot be found'.  If I use the 'add folder to library' option in the 'file' dropdown menu, the tracks are located again.
Unfortunately, I the last time I did this it resulted in 4 copies of each song on itunes; 2 lossless and 2 AAC.
    I have 2 questions:
Firstly is there an easy way to delete the duplicates from my iTunes library so that I am left with only 1 lossless and one AAC copy, but not deleing the files from my NAS and backup drive?
Is there a way I can just store my music as lossless, but convert it easily to aa more compressed format for synching to iphone and ipod?
    Thanks!

You can try my new DeDupe script. It should be able to get rid of the redundant copies while keeping one copy of each track in each format. See this thread for background.
I've not used the feature, but iTunes can downsample to 128k AAC on the fly as it syncs your devices. Of course you might find the process is too slow for your needs or find that 128k is too much compression.

  • How to delete photos from ipod touch

My hard drive crashed and had a new hard drive installed. Used Time Machine and restored my data. When I connected my iPod iPhoto improrted all my photos. Now I have over 10,000 pictures on my iPod. How do I delete these off my iPod and keep the ones I want to remain on my iPod???

Delete the images you want to delete on the folder you used to sync. Then sync your iPod and the pictures you deleted would be deleted on your iPod touch.
The delete button only appears to photo you got off the net , Bluetooth photo transfer and screenshot. Any photo you sync using iTunes will not have the delete button. Hope this week

  • How to delete songs from iPod?

I just got my replacement iPod today after my other one went kaputt. Everything works nicely and iTunes FINALLY recognizes my new Nano but..
...how do I go about deleting songs and adding more to my iPod? When I plugged it in, the iTunes program automatically downloaded ALL the files I had in iTunes to my iPod but I don't want all that stuff in there.
I tried to delete and add stuff to the Nano but for some reason, my music database thingy is "lightly shaded gray" and I can't click on anything.
Normally, i'd right-click on something and clear it but that's not working with my Nano. Any help?

Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to "automatically update songs and playlists". . If you want to access your iPod directly, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and Playlists" in the iPod preferences. Managing Your Songs Manually
One thing to remember about manually updating though is that the iPod also has to be manually ejected before the "Do Not Disconnect" message will go away. Safely disconnect iPod
    For info: iPod 101
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • How to delete photos from iPod after making screen shot?

    Hello!
I just figured-out how to take screen shots with the ipod... And was playing with it for a while! heh heh
Now I have a bunch of screen shots saved to my ipod, is there a way to delete them with out connecting to iTunes?
    Any tips are appreciated.

On a Mac, iPhoto launches automatically if there are Saved Photos. In Windows XP, there's a "new device" dialog where you can select the Scanner & Camera Wizard (no view files option in XP, unlike Vista), or you can go to My Computer and you'll see an Apple® iPod device (the only thing accessible will be the Saved Photos).
I think we've covered all the OSs now.
    Hope this helps...

  • How directly delete file from iPod Classic?

What a pity that when listening to the music file and press and hold the center button in the menu that appears, there is no "Delete file".

Given that the product line has been withdrawn I suspect there is little merit in sending your idea to iPod Feedback but it is there if you want it. What I used to do was give such tracks a one star rating and use smart playlist rules that would automatically exclude tracks with one star so they would be removed on the next sync.

  • How to delete tracks from iPod / Storage problem,

I'm using iCloud to store music but keep getting a message " storage almost full". when I check icloud theres plenty of storage. I think it may the tracks on the iPod creating to problem. Have plugged ipod into iTunes and shows a " On this iPod" option, which has 404 tracks. I try to delete by selecting delete but does not work and looked at other suggestions e.g slide the track lesf to right which also fails. Any advise apprecaited. Phil GT

    - On the iPod if you swipe a song left or right a Delete buton should pop up. Tap it to dele the song.
    - You can delete all Music by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music>Music> Edit in upper right and then Delete.
    - You said " I try to delete by selecting delete but does not work " just whee are you doing that?
    - Same for "slide the track lesf to right which also fails.".

  • How to delete music from Ipod Touch?

there r some songs that r only in my iTouch that iTunes does not detect.
I even tried to delete it manually but in vain.
As I cannot delete them in my iTouch is there any way I can remove them.

    Ben,
Do you auto sync or manually manage your music on the Touch? If it's the former, the previous poster's suggestion should work. If it's the latter, then we may need more details, because in that case it should work as you have described attempting in your post. One suggestion I could offer is that the contextual menu may have changed with version 10, so the right-click method may no longer be available. You might have to manually hit delete...not sure. And since I haven't upgraded yet, I cannot test this feature.
