How to delete faces in iphoto

how can i delete faces in iphoto 9.5.1??

When in your photo library, go to the bottom search magnifying glass. Search "face". This should bring up all the files that iphoto has renamed and categorized for you as just the faces in your photos. The file names for the face photos are (file name)_face(number).jpg. Unless you have renamed any photos with "face" in it (I never did), this will pull them all up. Hit "command" + "A" and it will select them all. Then delete.

  • How to delete pictures with iPhoto off your camera roll?

I bought iphoto to help me organize pictures on my Ipad and Iphone.  I especially like the idea of being able to compair two or more similar pictures and save the best photo and delete the copies that weren't as good.  I liked this feature but then discovered that it was not deleting the pictures off the camera roll.
I would love someone to tell me how to delete pictures in iphoto so they are removed from my Camera Roll at the same time.  Being able to look at two pictures at the same time and decide which one you want to keep is great, but if I can't delete the one I don't want it is a waste of time.

    Titan2,
Thanks for the reply,  I agree that the Iphoto needs to be the stock app.  Hope it isn't too long.
    Ralph,
I agree that the iphoto for the ipad might not be the best place to organize, but when you are retired and traveling you would like to select the pictures you want to keep and not wait until you get home.  The camera roll doesn't let you compair two or more photos to see which one is best,  Iphoto does but I want the poorer photos off the ipad so I don't have to wait until I get home and I want to use the memory for the best photos.   I'm trying to figure out a round about way so I know which ones to delete on the camera roll.
I thank both of you for your comments.

  • How to delete albums from iphoto?

There is clear instructions from within iPhoto to delete Journals but nothing about deleting albums.  How do I go about doing this on an iOS device - iPad or iPhone?

Albums are deleted using the Photo app or by syncing with your computer.use the Photo app to delete photos in the Camera Roll, All Imported and Last Imported albums.
To delete other albums start iTunes on the computer that you normally sync with and connect your iPad. Select your pad in the left column of iTunes on your computer. At the top of the right column select Photos.
In the list of Albums below deselect those albums you want to delete. That click on Apply in the lower right corner of that window.

To remove a pic from an album you hit delete. In no version of iPhoto did hitting delete in an album move the pics to the trash. It would only do that in the full library.
In v6 hitting option (or alt) key - delete would move a pic from an album to the trash, and in v7 this has changed to option (or alt) key +  + delete together to move a pic from an album directly to the trash.

  • How to delete photos from iPhoto and hard drive at the same time.

I need to remove some files from my iMac G5 in order to free up some space. I have some photos on my machine that I would like to delete. Is there a setting I can change so that I completely remove a photo from my machine when I delete the iPhoto thumbnail? If not, what is the best way to remove photos from my machine, and not leave thumbnails in iPhoto to photos that no longer exist on my machine etc. I'm using iLife 08 and the most recent version of Leopard on a third generation iMac G5.

To remove file from iPhoto and the HD simply put the files in the iPhoto trash and then go iPhoto Menu -> Empty trash.
This works if you're using iPhoto in the default setting, where the files are copied to the Library on import. If, however, you have a referenced library, you'll need to trash the files in your own folder structure yourself.

  • How to delete photos in iphoto 08 - silliy? not quite!

    Hi,
I'm used to hit the delete key to move a photo from a given album or my library to iphoto's trash and then empty the trash to completely remove the photo from my HD.
Now when I do this in iphoto 08 the photo is just removed from the album. That's all. It won't be moved to the trash - whatever I try. Drag and Drop won't do either. I created a custom album to show all photos not assosiated with any album. That way I can see that every photo is just removed from the album right to the library without beeing moved to the trash whenever I hit the delete key.
So a silly thing like trashing a photo seems to be impossible for me. I must be missing a very simple thing.
    BTW:
I run all repair steps which might seem advisable.
    - repair permissions of HD
    - checked for HD errors
    - triggerd all repair options offered by iphoto when both command and alt keys are pressed while launching iphoto.
    Still no luck.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

  • How to disable faces in iphoto

I am seeing if there is a terminal command to stop with faces running in iphoto?  It is becoming a storage issue with our student mac books.
    Thank you for your time.

There is a way to sort of kill Faces and keep iPhoto from creating the small faces image files (and to clean them out of the library).  It won't stop iPhoto from doing scans but after the first scan it's not much of a problem.
1 - open the library like this in the Finder.
2 - in the Database folder move this file to the Trash: Faces.db.
3 - close the package/folder and launch iPhoto.  Close it after a moment.
4 -  open the package, find the new version of the file and lock it via the Info window for the file.
5 - while viewing the contents of the package type Command+F to start a search.
6 - set the criteria of the search to:  Kind is Image and Name Contains "face".
7 - select all of the files in the search results window and drag to the Trash.
8 -close the package and launch iPhoto.
You will get the faces spinning wheel as it tries to index the library the first time it's opened but it won't be able to write to the database file if you should try to add a face and won't create any new jpeg faces files. Of course make a backup of your library before trying this and no guarantee implied.

  • How to desactivate faces in iphoto?

    Bonjour,

There is a way to partically disable Faces.  At least prevent iPhoto from creating the many small face image files.
1 - open the library like this in the Finder.
2 - in the Database folder move this file to the Trash: Faces.db.
3 - close the package/folder and launch iPhoto.  Close it after a brief moment.
4 -  open the package, find the new version of the file and lock it via the Info window for the file.
5 - while viewing the contents of the package type Command+F to start a search.
6 - set the criteria of the search to:  Kind is Image and Name Contains "face".

  • How do you turn OFF faces in Iphoto?

How do you turn OFF faces in Iphoto? I hate it.

When I collapse it the face boxes go away, but next thing I know it's expanded again.
    Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Lion and Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
