How to delete ical alarms

I wish to delete several alarms that have been setup. Can this be done? If so, how?

fredericlang,
Follow the procedures list in...How to reset .Mac Sync: If your .Mac Sync begins to behave oddly, resetting the sync is a good troubleshooting step. It's essentially a "do-over," in case the computer got confused.
If you are going to reset the sync data, make sure to reset it from the computer that has the most up-to-date information on it. If you sync between computers with different versions of Mac OS X, try to reset the sync data from the computer with Mac OS X 10.4, if possible. Here's how to reset .Mac Sync....;~)

  • How to delete the alarm "Certificate is near expiration" on multiple WAEs using WAAS CM

    Hi,
We are getting "Certificate is near expiration" alarm on more than  200 WAEs . Instead of deleting the expired certificates manually from each device,
how to delete this alarms/certificates on all the devices from WAAS CM ?
    Please advice..
    Regards,
    Ameen.

    Ameen,
I believe there is script that you could use to address this issue on multiple devices at once.
Please open a TAC case so that TAC Engineer would assist with this.
For a single WAE, it is documented here.

  • How to keep ical alarms displayed after restarting

I notice that my iCal alarms disappear after quitting iCal or restarting my computer. For example "Call Doctor" shows up today at 8 am when I start work. I shut down for a meeting. I restart and the alarm message is gone. The event is still there. But I might forget to call unless I see the alarm again. I remember Microsoft Entourage did this and I found it very helpful. Is there a way to get this same effect with iCal?

Hi,  This is not related to your question about ical alarms, but to a previous post you made when your iweb crashed when saving.  I also had to use time machine to transfer all info to a new computer and I am having the same problem when I try to save.   I did not completely understand your solution because I am not very savvy with computers. I did go in and change all the permissions to read and write, but I still have the problem.  I don't know how to "add my account name to the File Info"-
I just spoke with a supervisor from Apple for two hours and who did not solve the problem.  (He thought he did, but he did not and he has not called me back).
If you could give me an explanation of your solution, it would be very helpful and immensely appreciated.
Thank you for any assistance you can give me regarding this.  I really need my iweb!

Here is the solution you posted:
I figured it out. It was those permissions. I simply added my account name to the File Info. For some reason the Time Machine restoration did not copy the permission for the package (however the contents had the correct permissions.

  • Recurring delivery of deleted iCal alarm

I have been having trouble with iCal and finally isolated the particular calendar that was causing the problem and deleted it. I am still receiving alarms that were set in that calendar in my email. How do I get rid of them?

    Gerry,
Is there another place to look for the alarmsCache?
If the com.apple.iCal.alarmsCache.plist is not present in that location there is no need to waste any time searching for it.
You will also find the com.apple.iCal.plist in the Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Quit iCal, drag the com.apple.iCal.plist to the Desktop log out/in or restart and check iCal for normal behavior.

  • How to delete iCal Completely

    Hi
I asked this a few weeks ago and got a few suggestions that were not useful so I'll repost the question
iCal has begun losing entries within minutes of entering them and quitting the program. I created a new user and entered events and it seemed to work fine. The only suggestion I don't want to hear is:
delete all entries> delete program files AND reenter the thousands of events manually that I have entered since iCal came out in 10.1.
This is my business appointments and I have to keep these as a record.
    The setup is a G5 dual 2ghz.
Has anyone had a recurring problem of the database getting corrupted?
    Thanks
    Enio

    Enio,
    Up to 10.5.7
How many of those computers are you syncing with MobileMe?
I hesitate to offer this suggestion, especially if you are trying to sync multiple computers with multiple operating systems. I am hesitant since MobileMe Chat was apparently unable to solve your problem, and I simply offer it as food for thought.
Before you do anything else be sure to identify/designate one of your computers as the "Master" computer. To me that means determining which computer has the most current up-to-date information. Protect the information on that computer by having a sufficient backup of your synced data. I will take it for granted that you know how to do that. Make sure that you use (at a minimum) iCal>File>Back up iCal...
After you have backed up, create a new calendar, and name the calendar "Test" for example. Then delete all of the other calendars that exist in the "Calendars" sources pane.
Quit iCal, and remove the com.apple.ical.plist file from your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences folder. Also remove the Calendar Cache file from the Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Calendars folder.
    Turn off MobileMe sync.
Then log out/in or restart, and the only calendar remaining should be the blank "Test" calendar.
Next, use MobileMe: How to reset sync data to reset your sync data to "zero" out the information on MobileMe.
When MobileMe has been updated and displays only the "Test" calendar, use iCal>File>Restore iCal... from your backup.
    Good Luck.

  • How to change iCal alarm defaults

I have one frequent event that requires an alarm when I put it on iCal.  However there is no consistency to when that event occurs so each must be entered manually.  This event can occur up to 6 times a month.  When I set the alarm each time, the default is 11:45 the night before.  I would rather have the default be same day at 8 am.  Is there a way to change the default so I don't have to change each alarm event manually?

If it takes a while to input new information, it might be quicker to duplicate the event and change the due date & time. I don't think you can specify a time in the default, just minutes prior to.

  • HT2488 How do I create an iCal Alarm to delay send an e-mail in my Drafts folder of Mail?

I've learned how to use iCal Alarm to schedule sending an e-mail.  However, all of the instructions I read say that I have to type the e-mail inside the automator's "New Mail Message". Is there a way to type the message in Mail, save it in drafts, and then create an iCal Alarm to schedule sending it?
I got as far as "Get Specified Mail Items" --> "Display Mail Messages".  This sequence displayed a message in Drafts.  What next to get it to send that message it displayed?  I tried adding "Send Outgoing Message" to the sequence with no success.  And I tried adding "New Mail Message" --> "Send Outgoing Message" to the sequence with no success.
Sometimes there will be several e-mails I want to delay send (some that I started earlier in the day, saved in Drafts and finished up in the wee hours of the morning) and it seems a waste to have to create a new iCal Alarm for each.
    Thank you!

  • How do I delete an alarm?

I've tried to look up how to delete an alarm on an iPod, but they were all showing me the simple way of doing so (when your iPod actaully works). When I go to clock and choose alarm, no alarms show up, but I have 2 set. How do I delete these when they don't show up as options?

    - Try a reset. Nothing is lost./
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore the iPod.

  • ICal Alarms Unreliable

    Hello,
After months and months of experimenting and researching how to make iCal alarms more reliable I am at my whits end with it all. Things work, then they don't, or they never work, or the popup occurs but I don't get the email or vice versa or my ipod reminds me but my mac does not I could go on and on but I can't understand why I need to spend hours and hours fighting with software to make sure its performing a core function. I am missing meetings and reminders to perform critical actions. I was hopeful that Snow leopard would fix everything but alas it has not. I sync through Mobile Me by the way.
Any advice from anyone? I am so busy I cannot do without a calendar and a helpful reminder system that I can rely on, but just trying to babysit iCal all day has become untenable. iCal just keeps missing the mark on reminders...

Hmm. I would suggest that you make two separate recurring events, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, each alarmed for say 15 minutes before. Do not make them all day events.

  • How to stop re-popping up old ical alarms, i.e. ical calender is not deletable, but keeps on coming back on screen after 30 secs.

hi, looks like I have a cache problem,
in ical I can't remove , delete a calendar. after 30 secs it comes back on screen. same happens with old , passed ical alarms.
i deleted the ical cache User/library/ical, however did not solve the problem

    >> then I get a completely blue screen.
That probably means that you're not looking at a bug in Photoshop, but a problem with a driver - and the most likely cause would be your video card driver.
And sure enough, your video card driver is almost 2 years out of date.
Please go to NVidia's website and get the latest driver - then follow their directions for installation (so you don't get bits of old driver left over).

  • How to delete all ALERTS in iCal at once?

Over the years I have added repeating Events with Alerts to iCal on various devices (some of them passed on to my relatives). As a  result I get plenty of Alert emails or sounds. I find it onerous to go through all repeating events to delete the alert. Hence my question: how to delete all Alerts at once?
Thanks for any suggestions/pointers/ideas. Cheers, Veit

    Hi John,
Thanks so much for your help with this problem. I am trying to remove alerts for a couple of specific shared calendars (which I can edit) but am having some difficulty due to my inexperience with applescript! I am also not sure where else to go for help solving this problem.
My plan is to run your script a couple of times specifying one calendar at a time by name.
This is the modification I made to your script:
    tell application "Calendar"
      activate
              delay 0.5
display alert "Removing all alarms from your editable calendars" message "This process may take some time and is permanent. Are you sure you want to do this?" buttons {"Yes", "No"} cancel button 2
              set calname to "Consultant_on_call"
--- repeat with myCalendar in (calendars whose writable is true)
repeat with myCalendar in (calendars whose name is calname)
repeat with myEvent in events of myCalendar
      delete display alarms of myEvent
      delete mail alarms of myEvent
      delete sound alarms of myEvent
delete open file alarms of myEvent
                        end repeat
              end repeat
display alert "Removing all alarms from your editable calendars" message "This process is complete." buttons {"OK"} default button 1
    end tell
Are you able to tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks again.
    Andrew

  • How can I restore my data from iCal? I didn't make any backup, but I use  time machine with an external HD. I deleted iCal when I deleted my gmail account. I have tried to restore, but I can only restore the iCal software and not the data.

How can I restore my data from iCal? I didn't make any backup, but I use  time machine with an external HD. I deleted iCal when I deleted my gmail account. I have tried to restore, but I can only restore the iCal software and not the data.

    So what is your question?
If you forgot your encryption password:
Warning: Make sure it's a password you will remember or write it down for safekeeping. If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and forget your password, you can't restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable.
If you can't remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and chooseset up as a new device when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore.

  • How prevent iCal ALARM reminders popping up when not wanted?

Sometimes I don't want to see my alarm box popping up to remind me of things.
Suddenly, & frequently, the pesky iCal Alarm box pops up in the middle of the screen with another preset alarm reminder, insisting on my immediate attention. Like when I'm watching a video on my mac.
Then I've got to get up and move it out of the way, but as soon as I touch it, the video which I've set to full screen shrinks to small & I've got to click it to big again. This is just one of the inconveniences.
Please, how can I set the iCal alarm to give it a rest for a while and save those reminders for later
I've made lots of iCal alarms to remind me of things throughout the day. so these interruptions are a constant problem.
Q#2: Why doesn't my ALARM BOX show active the Yellow Button so I could relegate it to the side Dock? Or even the Green Button, so I could enlarge it when I want to see all my open reminders without scrolling?
Instead, My ical ALARM BOX only has the Red button, which closes it out and loses all those reminders therein until it's their time again.
Oh, dear, I don't think anybody can solve this problem.
    Or
    can
    you?
