How to delete message on the Hotmail server when I delete it in Mail

I can setup hotmail account, but if I delete some message when I'm in Mail, it don't delete them on the server so if I acces my hotmail account from the web on another computer, I have to read all my old message deleted... Someting to help me? So, I don't see any folder, yet I see all my folders with my gmail account. THANKS! (excuse for the bad english, I speak french)

Il semble que votre compte HOTMAIL dans Mail soit paramétré en POP, ce qui effectivement ne fait que télécharger les emails mais ne synchronise pas les emails supprimés.
EN THEORIE, pour régler cela, il faut paramétrer votre compte en mode IMAP qui a le bénéfice de synchroniser les mails déplacés, suprimés, ... MAIS imap n'est pas disponible pour Hotmail pour Apple Mail (sauf les versions ipad et iphone)
Il vous faut voir si un abonnement HOTMAIL premium permet d'avoir le mode IMAP sinon, désolé mais votre problème restera en souffrance

I am running out of disk space on my local machine. Analysing this, I can see that a large amount of space is being taken up by local storage of Sent emails from my IMAP synchronised account.

I need to keep the server versions as these are business accounts and it is important I have all my old messages stored somewhere.

Short answer: get a bigger hard disk.
You could disable synchronization and free up the space on your local disk without loosing the messages. However, this would eliminate the possibility to create backups of your messages.<br>
Since you mentioned this is important business mail, you shouldn't take chances.

I have a freind who uses gmail and keeps all his history of messages in his inbox. I have explained to him that its prob not the best thing to do, but that is how he has been doing it. He is thining of getting an Iphone and moving from BB. But he wants to know for sure that when a email message comes into his phone and he deletes it, on the server its still will be in his inbox. How does his Blackberry currently access his Gmail account? It should be a simple matter to duplicate the settings. It's undoubtedly just using POP and not deleting the originals as they are downloaded.

Yes, (but I don't know why you would want to do it this way...). Set up hotmail on your iPhone as a POP3 account.

Try to reenter you rmail account details in the iPhoto Preferences > Accounts tab.
Delete the mail account entry by pressing the "-" button below the left column in the panel, then add it again by pressing "+".
Also, it is recommended, to set "Mail" as mail client in the iPhoto preferences, and not iPhoto. This has been working much more reliably lately.

Macmail no longer has the option to delete messages off the server

After upgrading to Mountain Lion, my macmail (6.2) no longer has the option to delete messages off the server in preferences / advanced settings.
I recently had troubles with the mailbox quota being full (ie everything stored on the server) and don't want to go in and manually delete things.
The research I've done suggests it should be as easy as checking or unchecking a box, however it's not there where it should be .

Mail>Preferences>Accounts>Mailbox Behaviors. Set the Trash section to move deleted messages to the Trash Mailbox, and then to Store the deleted messages on the Server. Select how often you want deleted messages to be permanently removed from the server.
Also, if you have stuff in the Trash, and you select some or all of it, and then go to Edit>Delete, it will ask you at that time if you want to delete it from the Server or just the Mac.

ok sorry everyone but i solved it myself but the solution is so nuts i've posted it here to help others who have the same problem.
to setup a comcast imap account on your iphone:
go to mail, contacts, etc in settings
under accts, select add account
select "other"
new screen, choose "add mail account"
now on the new acct screen you must enter your name, email address and password for your GMAIL acct ! (yes i said your gmail acct !, or some other acct with a NON comcast address).
hit next
then the acct verifies
when verified a screen will open with all the acct settings for this acct AND @ the top of the screen are the 2 buttons > imap or POP
select imap and THEN CHANGE ALL THE ACCOUNT information to the comcast account !
then hit next and the account will take a couple minutes to verify but it will verify and now you have a comcast imap acct set up on your iphone. The problem must be that when the iphone sends the initial verify acct info to comcast (if you enter that information first) the comcast server is simply not setup yet to signal the iphone that there is an imap option.

The system log shows that it could not send message from queue , so I want to delete messages in the queue.

Currently when I delete the message in Mail, the server still keep a copy of it, which means it is not deleted on the server. I know that POP can do this but I still want the option of being able to access it from other computers.
My server has only a small size, so I hope that I can just delete it from my Mail instead of having to log in to the server and delete it again.

IPhone not moving deleted message on the Server

Okay,
I have an IMAP account on my iPhone and my web mail is set to move deleted messages into the Trash Folder.
But for some reason when I delete a message on my iPhone it will show up in the Trash folder on the Phone but on the web mail it’s only marked (line thought it).
Is this do to the iPhone or?

I am having exactly the same issue. My boss uses a Samsung Blackjack (Windows Mobile) and his will remove from the server the emails he deletes from his Blackjack. When I delete my IMAP email from the iPhone it does NOT delete from the server - even when I empty the Trash folder.

The above artical started to help.. but eventually I did the following:
1) put device into DFU mode
http://www.imore.com/tip-put-iphone-ipad-dfu-mode
2) when connecting ipad to itunes, itunes was aware of DFU mode. Just selected the update and itunes downloaded the correct new OS (iOS 7.0.2) and did it's thing.
Note: there was no need to download an older version of iOS. In fact, I was always rejected when attempting a downloaded ipsw. iTunes always said, "This device isn't eligible for the requested build".
Device Info: iPad 3 wifi. Software was iOS beta 7 (7 release 5 I think).
