  • How to delete a partition entirely?

I had a bootcamp partition, and I can't figure out how to completely get rid of it. I've erased everything ON the partition but I can't seem to figure out how to restore the partition's memory back to the original Macintosh HD partition.
Since I used disk utility to erase it, bootcamp assistant won't give me any options as to how to delete the partition. It's using up 50gb of my harddrive and I need the space for my original partition.
Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated.
    Thanks so much

Select the drive in the sidebar, click on the Partition tab, delete that partition, and drag the slider at the bottom of the Mac OS X partition as far down as it will go.

  • How to delete "Other" partition in yellow color that appears when I connect my devices to the laptop, it's a giant one (4 GB)

Hello, I would like to know how to delete the yellow partition named "Other" (in italian "Altro") that appears when I connect all my devices to the laptop. This partition in Ipad comes with 4 Gb that for an instrument of 16 seems a bit too also because it far exceeds anything else. So far not been able to find useful information and is a very common problem. Thank you.

Thank you very much, but it's not so simple. I read somewhere in this same forum that:
I quote: "That large of "other" is corrupt data. Try restoring your phone from backup first, followed by syncing your content back to the phone. If restoring from backup does not fix things, you will have to restore as a new device to get rid of it. There is no way to directly delete it, other than restoring your phone."
First of all it's terrible, (but we know that itunes is very far to work properly, it's a store) and how many times a day we should make a restoring? and if it does not have we to buy another device? I cannot believe that there aren't other solutions.

  • Encore Mini WT7-C-100 - how to delete recovery partition

    Hi all,
I own an Encore Mini WT7-C-100 tablet with only 16GB storage.
After following all possible and existing solutions and recomendations in order to free up storage, free space on C: is limited to barely 500MB.
On the other hand, I noticed that the resovery partitiobn is almost 3GB large.
Though it seems that there is no way to remove this partition and extend C: in order to gain more disk space (3,5GB would be more than enough for me). Right clicking on this partition in Disk Management displays no avaliable actions (except "Help").
Please notice that I have already created a copy of the recovery partion on a USB drive (various posts in various forums indicated that Windows, after finishing with the copy on the USB, would propose for deleting the recovery parition but not such thing happened).
Please advice how to delete the recovery partition or for other actions in order to free up disk space in C:
    George
    Athens, Greece

Try to start the recovery using the HDD recovery procedure.
If you want to access the boot menu on please press and hold the "Vol+" button and turn on the device pressing power button.
After a few seconds the boot option menu will appear.
Then select "HDD Recovery" and the rest of the procedure is similar to the Windows 8 recovery process you can find here:

If this doesn’t help, try to recover the Toshiba WT8 / Encore tablet from a created recovery media

If you don't have the recovery media, you could order this here:

  • How to delete hidden partition on my Mac?

Well, I tried to install Windows 7 with BootCamp but I thought it was taking too long to partition my Hard Drive, so I cancelled half way. Now I can't manage to find a way to get my 40GB back. And My Hard drive appears to be "not partitioned" in Disk Utility where I tried to delete the unwanted partition of the Hard Drive. I would love somebody to help me delete that thing because Im running out of disk space and I have some important stuff on my Mac. Please help

Cmd (the key with the Apple logo) and the R key (but lower case.) Also, might try just restoring from a Time Machine or clone backup, from prior to what you did, if you have one.

  • How to delete original partition?

I made a partition a long time ago and used that insted of the original, which means that I have all my files on the new partition. So i want to delete the old partition without deleting any essential system files. But how?

Best way then is to backup to another HD, and start over (re-partiton, re-install OS X, transfer data from backp).

  • G500 change MBR to GPT for win8 Install without deleting the oem partition

Hi, I just bought Lenovo g500 and it came with Free DOS. Now I want to install windows 8 64-bit.
    My HDD came with:
1 system partition of 1000 MB (maybe Free DOS partition?)
    959 518 MB Unallocated space
1000 MB OEM - reserved partition
It has MBR partition table. To install windows 8 64-bit I need to use UEFI boot with GPT partition table, so I need to convert the MBR table to GPT. Microsoft suggest to delete all partitions and convert to GPT using Diskart command, but if I delete all partitions I will lose the 1000 MB OEM partition (and oneKey recovery)
Is there any solution on how to convert to GPT without losing the OEM partition? or I have to choose between win8 and OEM partition.

    Hi Gicevgoran,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums
I’m sorry to inform you that installing the Windows 8 is not possible without making changes in the default partition created in the computer while the pre-installed OS (Operating System) was installed, I suggest you to create a Recovery discs in your computer and then make changes so that you can revert back anytime if you require, below is the link to download the User Guide for G500 Laptop and refer page no. 21 for the steps to create the Recovery Discs for the computer.

  • How to delete the data from partition table

    Hi all,
Am very new to partition concepts in oracle..
here my question is how to delete the data from partition table.
is the below query will work ?
    delete from table1 partition (P_2008_1212)
we have define range partition ...
or help me how to delete the data from partition table.
    Thanks

delete from table1 partition (P_2008_1212)This approach is wrong - as Andre pointed, this is not how partition tables should be used.
Oracle supports different structures for data and indexes. A table can be a hash table or index organised table. It can have B+tree index. It can have bitmap indexes. It can be partitioned. Etc.
How the table implements its structure is a physical design consideration.
Application code should only deal with the logical data structure. How that data structure is physically implemented has no bearing on application. Does your application need to know what the indexes are and the names of the indexes,in order to use a table? Obviously not. So why then does your application need to know that the table is partitioned?
When your application code starts referring directly to physical partitions, it needs to know HOW the table is partitioned. It needs to know WHAT partitions to use. It needs to know the names of the partitions. Etc.
And why? All this means is increased complexity in application code as this code now needs to know and understand the physical data structure. This app code is now more complex, has more moving parts, will have more bugs, and will be more complex to maintain.
Oracle can take an app SQL and it can determine (based on the predicates of the SQL), which partitions to use and not use for executing that SQL. All done totally transparently. The app does not need to know that the table is even partitioned.
This is a crucial concept to understand and get right.

  • How do I delete HP_Tools partition & turn of beep on my DV7-6153ea?

    Hi Everyone,
I recently updated my bios with a HP update and a fourth partion called 'HP_Tools' has appeared on my new DV7-6153ea Windows 7 (sp1) laptop. My question is this... I don't want a fourth partition on my harddrive especially for 99mb. I'd like to completely remove this 99mb and partition - can I do this and how do I go about it?
Also, is there a way to turn the bios beep off when the laptop starts!!! It's so loud and disturbs people when I'm working!
    Sincerely, and with many thanks,
    Judd

I would personally recommend not to delete HP_TOOLS partition as its helpful during BIOS update process in case if you would like to do a rollback etc. Also HP_TOOLS partition is useful in running F2 (System Diagnostics) in case of any emergencies when required.
If you are still keen on deleting/removing it , Click start and type  "Disk Management "  without quotes and open Disk Management  window and right click HP_TOOLS partition and click Delete volume. This would also stop bios beep sound on the notebook.
I'm unsure how many times in a day you would restart your notebook where beep sound would annoy others but I'm very positive that you would hear that only once when you power ON the notebook.

  • How do I delete a partition on a hard drive?

I have a 2012 MacBook Pro with OS X Lion (don't know the version), I installed windows 7 shortly afterwards and primarily used that. I've now sold the laptop but need to delete the windows partition and that's where the problem started. The original Mac partition stopped working, so I deleted the content on the bootcamp partition and reinstalled OSX onto that one, now I am unable to delete the original partition so only half of the 500GB hard drive is available to use. Can anyone tell me how to delete the old partition so I can then just re-install OSX so it's ready for its new owner? I also have two recovery HD partitions. Please help!

make it easy, kill 2 birds with 1 stone
reboot holding 3 keys - option, command, r - you should see a spinning globe, if not try again
open disk utilty, select your HD on the left and erase/reformat as mac journaled
    exit du, choose install OSX
result - no more windows or other random partitions and a fresh OSX like out of the box

  • Hello, I have mistakenly deleted all partitions on my mac while trying to install windows on my macbook pro, how do i reinstall the mac os back

Hello, I have mistakenly deleted all partitions on my mac while trying to install windows on my macbook pro, how do i reinstall the mac os back. I just wanted to have them both, please help. thank you in advance

Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
    1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
    2. After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
