‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

I would like to use Private Browsing all the time, but want to retain certain cookies, like my sign in info for hotmail.com and certain banking log in info. How do I specify cookies that I do not want deleted?

You can protect specific cookies with the CookieCuller extension.
The cookies are only protected within that extension, so other means (Clear Recent History) will still remove them.
You can let all cookies expire if you close Firefox and keep the protected cookies.
If you use the build-in cookie manager then you can only make an allow exception for a specific domain, but with CookieCuller you can protect specific cookies.

i am trying to delete a calendar that i do not want on my iPhone. i never subscribed to this mysterious calendar. now it's listed as a Mexican holidays calendar when last week it was a HK holidays calendar. this recently appeared after the last iOS update. the only options to edit this calendar are to uncheck it and/or to change the color. i want it permanently deleted.  any ideas?

That file could be set as a Launch Agent or Daemon in your ~/Library or /Library, You could try to look for it or Safeboot your computer and then empty the trash. Safebooting disables Launch Agents/Daemon and Third Party Kernal extensions. Here's the article to Safeboot OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? - Apple Support

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

  • How to delete Transaction Codes

    Hi Everyone,
How to delete the Transaction codes which appear in Transaction box which appear in the top left where we keen in the entries in ECC6.
    With Regards,
    Venkat

    Hi
For this you need to delete registry entries from the frontEnd machine.
Go to run--> type "regedit" then either under HKEY_Local_Machine or HKEY_CURRENT_USER you will find folder
"Software" . Then go to SAP->SAP FrontEnd or SAPGUI-> then a folder called "CODE" will be somewhere there.
You will find the all the todes there in the code folder. Just right click on the Code folder and delete.  You can take a backup also before deleting by right clicking and then export.
I am not connected to any SAP front end machine right now, otherwise could tell you the exact path. Just search in the registry editor. you will get that.
    Hope this helps

  • HT1414 How to unlock pass code

Hi My I pad is stuck in lost mode we misplaced it for a few weeks. I set up find my I pad on another device since I have found the missing I pad but it's asking me for a pass code which I don't have. How do i reset my I pad??

The screen passcode would be whatever you set when you locked the iPad. If you've forgotten that code, restore the iPad from the computer to which the iPad is synced. For information and instructions, see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
If that will not work, you'll need to put the iPad into Recovery Mode and then try the Restore again:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If that still doesn't work, as a last resort try DFU mode:

  • How to bypass 'pass code' at startup?

About 5 days ago, my iMac began shutting down all by itsself and hen restarting asking for a 4-digit passcode.  I entered it and things were fine.  It is still shutting down and now will not accept the pass code.  Is there a way around or a way to reset that faulty pass code?

By "pass code" I assume you mean the password you use to boot your mac. If so you can go to system prefs. then click on "users & groups". Then click on "log in options" (the icon of a house at the bottom left of window) Set it for "automatic login" for your name. Then, whenever you boot, it will not ask for your apssword.

If your phone is disabled from entering the wrong passcode too many times you'll have to restore it to remove the passcode, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212.
