How to delete photos to free space in iphone5

i have uploaded all the pictures in my iphone 5 (took a week or more to finally delete) to iTunes in my laptop.  how come i still see in USAGE under General on the iphone5 Settings, 16 Gb out of my 25 GB  storage space, which together with the other apps, leave me only 3 GB available?   in other words, how do i free up
space in my iphone, which has a lot of pictures?

Sigh, why don't you read the links you post? The OP asked for 1.5.

  • How to Delete photos to free up space

    Hi,
I have been taking photos on my iphone 4 since I inherited it from my daughter. It has 16Gb memory, and I have just 1.64Gb left from 14.8 Gb. There are 5 folders, with 8digit names housing photos numbered from 0-999, 1000-1999, 2000-2999, 3000-3999 and some in a folder 4000-4020 (these are the most recent obviously).
Itunes tells me I have over 60% of my phone memory taken up with photos, but does not give me any option to see them, let alone delete them! I then shut down itunes, and just opened the DCIM folder.
I have no Mac - just a Windows PC, running Windows 7.
I have copied photos from all the folders to backup folders and the folder with photos 0-999 dissappeared after I copied it off the phone.
I have deleted photos 1000 to 1999 out of the folder, (although the folder itself won't delete, even though it appears empty.)
same with 2000-2999. I have been left with some .xmp files which won't delete.
However... No space has been reclaimed, as still the free space is 1.64Gb left of 14.8Gb!
Please can someone tell me how to reclaim the space (without deleting all my apps etc by restoring the phone)
    Thanks

  • How to delete photos in order to gain more space

    hi everyone,
i know how to delete photos and vidéos, but the avalaible space does not change.
is there a way to gain space?
    Thank you

salientgreen is right. But my suggestion is that you'd better first transfer these data to your computer to have a backup and then delete them to free up space.
By the way, you can open Settings and navigate to General > Usage to get an idea of your storage consumption. Music, videos, and photos might be the biggest offender.

how to delete photos to make room on my phone

Photos that you have saved to an album from email, camera, can be deleted by taping the photo and then taping the trash can lower right corner.  Photos that have been synced to the iPhone from iTunes on a computer must be removed by syncing back to iTunes.

Yes but if you have not done so, backup your iPhoto library. That way if there's a problem, you can restore from a backup.

  • How do delete photos from iPhone but keep them on the cloud?

Is it possible to delete photos from an iPhone but keep them on the cloud? If not what is the purpose of buying extra storage for icloud If you phone can only hold up to 128gb?
finding it hard to get a straight answer on this, so maybe have to go to a local shop and find out.

    Refer to this Faq.
How does iCloud Photo Library save space on my device?
iCloud Photo Library can move the original high-resolution photos and videos to iCloud and
replace them with lightweight, device-optimized versions on your iOS device. This helps you
make the most of your device storage while giving you access to more photos than ever.
You can turn on Optimize [device] Storage from Settings > iCloud > Photos or Settings >
Photos & Camera > iCloud Photo Library on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. You will need
an Internet connection to access an original photo or video that’s stored only in iCloud.
Yes I want to know the answer too.
If I subscribe to iCloud storage but my iPhone can just hold up to 16 gb.
Why do I have to do it ? to make my iPad see photos from my iPhone?
I did try to disable icloud photo while i had 1gb photos stored in my iPhone
and wipe them out, yes ,nothing left, 0 data. but when I turn on iCloud Photo -
again. everything come back as preview photos but when I look at each, my phone
will download them all anyway. so, how can you manage space on devices actually?
if I have 16 gb on my phone , So I can see all of my 1tb photos on iCloud ?
and have enough space on the phone to do other things right?

  • How do you create additional free space on the volume containing the iPhoto library?  I have plenty of HD space.

How do you create additional free space on the volume containing the iPhoto library?  When attempting to import images from a CD I get an "Insufficient Disk Space" message albeit there is plaenty of additional space on the hard drive.

How much free space do you have on your hard drive?  Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

    Help me

Use the form of exec that takes an array of command + args.
    arr[0] = "/bin/rm"

arr[2] = "/home/me/some directory with spaces";Or use ProcessBuilder, which is the preferred replacement for Runtime.exec, and which Runtime.exec calls.

You need to do it through iTunes, by unsyncing them
Wtih  your iPhone connected, open iTunes on your computer, and click on your iPhone's name.
This should bring up the Overview Page, then click on the Photos Tab.
From their uncheck the folders that have the images you want top remove from your phone. Then sync the phone. itunes will remove the pictures during the sync process.

How to delete photos in Ipad

Photos that were synced from your computer using iTunes can only be deleted by de-selecting them from the folder from where they were synced -  and then re-syncing.
Connect the iPad to the PC and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Photos Tab on the right.
If you want to remove all of the Photos - uncheck the Sync Photos from Heading
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
If you are using iTunes 11 - this will be helpful, Setting up syncing in Windows.
