How to delete pics from Ipad

I would like to delete several pictures from my photos but do not understand how to do this?

There are different ways that you delete photos on the iPad and those depend on how the photos were put on the iPad in the first place.
Photos that were taken with the iPad (or any photos in the camera roll) can be deleted right on the iPad. Tap the trash can icon in the top right corner if you are viewing the photo in full screen, or if you are viewing as thumbnails - tap the arrow in the upper right corner - tap the photos that you want to delete and then tap - Delete.
Photos that were synced from your computer using iTunes can only be deleted by de-selecting them from the folder from where they were synced - and then re-syncing.

Do they have a cloud icon next to them? If they do, they aren't on the iPad so you can't delete them. They are in iCloud ready for you to download them if you want to and they are visible in the music app for this purpose.
If you don't want to see these songs that are in iCloud, go to Settings> iTunes & App Store>Show all>Music>Off.

Deleting pics from ipad :-( grrrrr

Apple make fine products & I like the iPad. However, it is extremely annoying trying to navigate the complexities of iTunes and syncing to achieve various outcomes. There are REAMS of articles and 000's of discussions, chats, videos etc... from users who have become frustrated when trying to simply delete photos from their ipads !!! IT IS MAJORLY ANNOYING. Come on Apple make it simpler or publish easy to follow guides on your website.
Wrestling with Itunes is one of the reasons I ditched my ipod ~~~

How to delete pics from LR ext. hard drive within program.

I can't delete pics from disk. Error say finder doesn not support the volume. Using ext. hard drive and not in collection. New macbook pro with LR 4. Never experienced this problem on PC with LR 3. It appears this is a problem for other users. Has anyone founds a solution??

Thus must be a pure Mac-Finder/permissions problem.
In LR, as you corrctly assume, when you are in a folder (rather than a collection), you can hit the delete-key for any image, and you will get the dialog box asking for just removing from catalog or executing a physical deletion also in your operating system.
So I would continue any further troubleshooting in Mac Finder.
If Finder would not support the volume of the external hard disk (due to wrong formatting for Mac?), how can the image be read then?
If only deletion is denied, it might be a permissions problem.

Only photos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad - either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view.
Photos that were synced from your computer are deleted by moving/removing/de-selecting them from where they were synced from and then re-syncing.

I need to clear photos from my iPad that were synced from my computer some time agi.
Since sycing those pics from the pc to the ipad, I cleared up my pc and backed up the photos onto discs.
How do I now delete those pics from the iPad, as the the images cant be selected and resynced from the pc anymore?

If you create an empty folder on your computer and you sync that folder as your photos folder, that will erase the photos from the iPad when you sync. Or you can unselect the Sync Photos From heading in the iTunes window and then sync to remove the photos.

not so straight forward i'm afraid. I use Aperture and in my case resetting photo stream and switching off and back on photo stream from icloud preference panel resulted in all my imported photo stream photos in aperture being cancelled. i.e. not only the photo stream but also the automatically imported project named "oct 2011". And as you might know, restoring from time machine is not that easy in aperture as it might be in iphoto. Very dissapointing bug.

Where did these phots come from?
If they were synced through itunes from a computer, the only way to remove them is to sync them off. By unchecking the folder they are in, in the Photos tab of iTunes.
If they were takne with the iPad or downloaded from the web or saved from an email you should see a tiny trashcan icon at the top of the screen you can use to delete them when viewing the image. Or use the Edit button at the top right when in grid view to select the ones to delete, and then tap on the red Delete button at the top left opf the screen.
