How to delete system root certficates

After reviewing system certficates and evaluating them, even though they're trusted, they appear to be foreign and suspicious to me.  not seeing any  association with aspecific app., I would like to delete them from MacBookAir.  How?   Thanks

This is additional information to my original query.  I hope this helps for those who may have experienced the same issue and found a solution other than to blindly follow the sheep/Apple.  I love Apple products as I'm sure you do, but that doesn't mean we have to "settle" for certificates we know nothing about.
After opening Keychain Access and viewing the System Roots Certificates, I find one entitled, “China internet information Center EV Certificates Root”.  It evaluates as “Generic (Certificate chain validation only).
There are four more that appear suspicious to me also.  One is listed as “TÜBITAK UEKAE Kök Sertifica Hizmet Saglayicisi - Sürüm 3” in addition to two others with the same name, “TÜRKTRUST Elektronik Sertifika Hizmet Saglayicisi”.  One expires Sep16, 2015 and the other Dec 22, 2017
Although I make an assumption that I must have clicked on something that enabled these, I cannot say with certainty whether I did nor not.  They look suspicious to me and I’m reluctant to use the keychain and I’m very tempted to remove Apple Pay from my iPhone because of these.
Just because they are valid, one never knows what is truly “necessary” and why they are there.  Seriously, if these kinds of certificates are valid, I would like to know what websites use them so I can avoid them in the future.
Does anyone have any comment or suggestions regarding these?  Thanks.

  • How to delete the root DataObject?

    Hi,
    I guess it's something simple, but I wasn't able to make it work. In general - I fetch some DataObjects from DSP service and would like to delete them all, but all I receive is com.bea.sdo.impl.ReadOnlyException: Root DataObject can not be deleted
    Code for achieving this [this = exception :))] (two versions):
    DataObject[] pddoc = (DataObject[])myService.invoke("getOperation", params);
    // delete the root object as all attached should be deleted also
    if (pddoc.length>0) {
    pddoc[0].getDataGraph().getRootObject().delete();
    //and yea, I know that pddoc[0] is probably the root, but wasnt 100% sure...
    or
    DataObject[] pddoc = (DataObject[])myService.invoke("getOperation", params);
    // mark each DO for deletion
    for (int i=0; i<pddoc.length; i++) {
    pddoc.delete();
    Any idea what I should do to make it work? Or is there some other/better way to delete all rows returned by data service?

  • How to delete System / System Connector  in VIRSA CC ??

    We have implemented VIRSA with 1 System Landscape. i.e for VIRSA we have only one system.
    Our VIRSA version is 5.1.
    Currently our VIRSA is configured  with 2 DEV + 2 QTY + 2 PRD ABAP systems.
    i.e VIRSA is having now 6 ABAP Systems for analysis.
    As we aware in 5.1 Batch Risk Analysis can not be run for 1 system.
    we have to run Batch Risks Analysis for all systems - it is taking everytime 72 Hours to compete the same.
    During 72 Hours any system has any problem / connection / restart / any thing happens. The batch risk analysis goes into "ERROR".
    In this corner - we want to remove DEV & QA Systems from VIRSA.
    How we can do that??
    When we are trying to delte the Connectors of respective Systems.
    we are getting the following message
    " com.virsa.cc.rulearchitect.dao.DAOException: Cannot delete connector as there are entries related to this connector in the system. "
    How can we delete the Connectors in a standard way. if it can not be delted in stnadard way , what is the work around ??

    Hi.. Experts
    If we would like to delete the connectors,
    we can do it manually from database.
    You can use attached deletion script which needs to be run at database level.
    and restart the instance which very much mandatory
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    Note : SAP never recommends to use deletion script on Production Server.
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    IMPORTANT Note 1 -
    +++++++++++++++++++
    This script will delete EVERYTHING related to a connector
    including rules, mitigations, management reports, etc.
    Therefore, Customer are doing this on their own accord.
    In order to delete the (CC) data, you would have to run a
    deletion script against the database tables.
    However, this is not the recommended best practice especially
    in a production environment.
    In doing so this may cause data inconsistencies and may render your
    application unstable. Therefore, please be advised that by using the
    script you are doing this at your own accord and SAP Support will not
    be responsible for any loss of data consequent to the application of the
    script and SAP cannot support an unstable application.
    The script will be provided only upon request. Again, please be aware that
    execution of this script is recommended only in a non productive environment.
    It is also recommended that you take a backup of the database prior to
    executing the script.
    IMPORTANT Note 2 -
    +++++++++++++++++++
    Please involve your DBA to run the attached scripts on the Java Database
    where you have the CC 5.x Installed. Since you want to delete the data
    for a particular connector,
    kindly replace the '&1' in the script
    for VSYSKEY with the SID of the Connector.
    Note:
    +++++++++++++++++++
    The Management reports will also be removed after you run the script
    andyou will have to re-run the Management Update Jobs for the exisiting
    connectors, to make sure that you have the accurate results in the
    graphs.
    PLEASE USE THIS SCRIPT ONLY ON YOUR OWN RISK. STILL WE HAVE A COMPLETE BACKUP
    WE HAVE NO RISK; TAKE BACKUP & TAKE A CHANCE RUNNING THIS SCRIPT.

    You can do this from Database End only.

    Solstice DiskSuite[TM] Software: How to Delete and Reset a Lost Root Password on a System With a Mirrored Root Disk [ID 1010755.1]
    Solution
    Steps to Follow
    How to delete and reset a lost root password on a system with a mirrored root disk.
    1) Insert the Solaris[TM] Operating System CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
    2) Once the CD-ROM is in the drive, perform a stop-a. This brings the system down to the "ok" prompt.
    3) From the "ok" prompt, perform a single-user boot from the Solaris OS CD-ROM.
    ok boot cdrom -s4) At the "#" prompt, determine which disk is the system's boot disk (containing the root file system). There are several Oracle architectures and various configurations of systems when it concerns a boot disk. As a general rule, most boot disks are attached to controller 0 (c0). Usually, their SCSI target is
    either 3 (t3) or 0 (t0). However, Oracle machines are very flexible, and the boot disk could be at a different location. If you are not sure which disk is your boot disk, perform the following steps to determine the location of the boot device:
    a) # eeprom boot-device
    The output might appear to be simple, such as "disk" or "disk1" or more complicated, such as a pathname "/iommu/sbus/espdma@4,8400000/...../sd@3,0:a".
    b) Make note of the boot-device. If the boot-device is a pathname, it is beyond the scope of this information to provide the location of the customized boot disk. However, for most configurations,
    finding the customized boot disk is an easy task. The "Format" command shows all available disks:
    #format
    Searching for disks...done
    AVAILABLE DISK SELECTIONS:
    (enter its number): c) Enter d to exit format.
    Now, you will have an idea what disks are on the system. Therefore, if the boot-device is "disk" and format shows "c0t0d0" (on some systems "c0t3d0") then that is the boot device. If boot-device
    shows "disk1" and format shows "c0t1d0," then that is the boot device. If format shows multiple disks, then based on what the "eeprom boot-device" command shows, the system's boot disk would be:
    boot-device format
    disk c0t0d0 or c0t3d0 (machine dependent)
    disk1 c1t0d0
    disk2 c0t2d0
    disk3 c0t3d0 or c0t0d0 (machine dependent)
    and so on ....
    5) Because the system was not brought down gracefully (no root password means having to use the Stop-a keystroke to "crash" the system), you need to run "fsck" to clean the root partition (slice). The fsckalso confirms that you selected the proper slice.
    # fsck /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s0
    where the X and Y are determined by the previous procedure. It is also possible to have a root partition which is not on slice 0 (s0), but, again, that is not a standard configuration.
    The output of "fsck" looks like this:
    ** /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s0
    ** last mounted on /
    ** Phase 1 .....
    The second line in the output of "fsck" ("** Last mounted on /") confirms that this is the correct root filesystem partition. Answer "y" to any questions fsck asks. There shouldn't be too many items
    needing repair. If there are, there is a possibility of a corrupted root filesystem. After fsck is finished, mount the root partition:
    # mount /dev/dsk/c1t0d0s0 /a
    Again, X and Y are the same as for the fsck command.
    For example:
    # mount /dev/dsk/c1t0d0s0 /a
    6) From the root prompt, set the proper TERM type command (such as vt100, dtterm, sun, and so on)
    by entering this command:
    # TERM=sun; export TERM
    7) Use the VI text editor to edit the /etc/shadow file:
    # vi /a/etc/shadow
    8) The first line of the /etc/shadow file is the one you want to modify.
    It looks like this:
    root:c3.yAVmYodWsc:6445::::::
    9) Delete every character between the first and second colons in the first line of the file. When you finish deleting the characters, the line should look like this:
    root::6445::::::
    10) Press the Escape key, then enter the following to save the file and exit vi:
    :wq!
    11) Use the VI text editor to edit the /etc/system file andremove the "rootdev" line shown below:
    # vi /a/etc/system
    *rootdev:/pseudo/md@0:0,0,blk
    Don't comment out the "rootdev" line. Actually remove it.
    12) In the /a/etc/vfstab file, replace the lines for the system filesystem meta-devices with their underlying partitions. For example, change lines from
    /dev/md/dsk/d0 /dev/md/rdsk/d0 / ufs 1 no -
    to
    /dev/dsk/c1t0d0s0 /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s0 / ufs 1 no -
    ONLY change the lines for root (/) and the filesystems that were affected by the actions you took in step 1 of this procedure. All other metadevices may stay as is in this file.
    13) Unmount root, check the root filesystem, and then stop the system:
    # cd /
    # umount /a
    # fsck /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s0
    # stop-a
    14) Boot to single-user mode:
    ok boot -swTHIS STEP IS VERY IMPORTANT; YOU MUST BOOT TO SINGLE-USER MODE TO AVOID FILESYSTEM CORRUPTION.
    If the system does not boot to single user mode, you might have made a mistake in the previous steps.
    15) Because the root password was cleared in an earlier step, press Return when prompted for the the root password. Once you are in single-user mode, you must clear the metamirrors and all the sub-mirrors for the root filesystem. For example, if root (/) is d0, run the following command:
    # metaclear -f -r d0
    Running the metaclear command not only clears the metamirror but also clears the submirrors that are part of this mirror.
    16) When the metamirror is cleared, continue the boot up to multiuser mode by either pressing CTRL-D or by entering the following:
    # exit
    Now everything should be as it was, except that the system partition is on the underlying partition and isn't mirrored. You will simply need to re-create the metadevices for the root mirror as you had originally.
    many thanks

    Hi,
    Halt your machine.
    Boot with fail-safe mode.
    format and list out the disks. (You can get the root & mirror disk (c#t#d#) details from /etc/lvm/md.tab of your root or mirror disk. Earlier explorer output may help)
    Mount the root disk and remove the password entry in /etc/shadow
    umount it.
    Mount the mirror disk and remove the password entry in /etc/shadow
    umount it.
    reboot the server.
    Hope this helps!

  • How do I restore System Roots Certificates. They were all accidentally deleted

    Someone was working on my wife's mac, and they for some inexplicable reason deleted all of the certificates in the System Roots keychain.  I can't import them from my mac, because I can't import to the System Roots keychain.

    Those certificates are issued by Apple peroidically with Software Updates, but I read a way to update them more frequently.
    Hit your Keychain Access Preferences,
    Click Certificates
    OSCP: Best Attempt
    CRL: Best Attempt
    Priority: OSCP
    This might work, it will slightly reduce the speed of Secure Socket Layer (SSL) sites as it verifies each certificate in real time instead of from a file.
    If these setting are already set, then you know what happened.
    Try to visit a certain site that requires a certificate and see if everything works.

    Many of these certificates have slightly unusual names i.e. DoD CLASS 3 Root CA
    Thawte Personal Freemail (at least 15 from Thawte Personal *
    Also when I initially opened Keychain it crashed and produced what would be equiv to a stack dump..
    So far I'm not impressed with this new MacBook Pro and the security as  I also seem to have some kind of malware that no one can seem to help figure out what it is or how to get rid of.. (including Sophos or ClamVox)

    Unrecognized by you or a certificate authority? It's rarely a good idea to be deleting Certificates in any case.
    Yes, the lock in the upper right hand corner, but unless you have established a root password, you won't be able to unlock it. Your not supposed to mess with things in System Roots.

    There is nothing unusual about those names. I only have 6 Thawte Personal *'s.

    Try selecting "Keychain First Aid" from the Keychain Access menu.

    BTW, the machine on which the DVD image is happens to be x86 running Sol 10.
    I thought that wouldn't matter, as it is just NFS sharing a directory which has a DVD image.
    What am I doing wrong?
