i have some photos that i tried to remove from my phone that also had duplicates. the copies deleted fine but the originals i cannot delete at all for some reason so i decided to put them into a hidden file thinking i wouldnt see them again. lemme tell you how shocked i was and upset my new girlfriend was when she saw pictures of my ex on my phone that i still havent been able to delete!! someone please please help me figure this out!!!

Are the photos saved on your phone in an album that has been backed up on the computer? if so, then connect you phone to itunes via the sync cable and the go on photo's menu on itunes and delete the album

iPhoto is a relational database management program and manages only items that it controls - items within its library - it does not and will not do anything with any photo that is not in the library except to delete photos from cameras after import - and this is not recommended
You are running a referenced library and it is not recommended - it makes deleting photos more difficult as you are seeing, it makes importing photos more difficult and it makes replacing or upgrading hardware much more difficult

If you have any synced photos on your iPad the only way to delete those is by syncing again with iTunes... Either sync an empty photo folder or unselect the photos folder from the photos tab in iTunes and sync again.
Are you sure that you are not using Photos from your Photo Stream? Go to Settings>Picture Frame and make sure that there are no albums, or photo stream photos to choose from.

Are you talking about photo Library?
This is how Apple handles photos. ALL synced photos are in teh Photo Library. you can also access those exact same pics ( not duplicates) from the album which you selected to sync; just as your music is in your library and ca also be accessed via playlists.

i did a sync on my computer to back up my photos for the first time... my camera roll says i have 1000 pictures and the computer said i had 2000+... are duplicates stored somplace... are pics thats deleted from the camera roll still stored somewhere? how do you delete the duplicates?

Photos in the camera roll can be imported to the computer, not synced. There is a difference. Photos that are synced, are synced from the computer onto the phone. These are the pictures that you see in the Photo Library. Photos in the camera roll do not appear in the Photo Library.
If you have deleted photos from the Camera Roll, they are gone. If you do not want to sync photos to the phone from the computer, you do this via iTunes. Go to the Photos tab with the phone connected to the computer, remove the checkmark to sync, and sync again. This will remove the photos.

OMG! TIS MAKES ME SOOOOOOOOOO MAD!!!!!!!! i was trying to delete my photo library because 150 photos take up space and i already had them in a diferent album, from a tip that made no sense to me. like deleting it the same way i transferred it. i got a new ipod and authorized it then the new album was created. Removing the tick from the box named Sync Photos would not remove any of your music. You must have done something else if half your music was removed from the iPod.

Yes, you can delete anything from your iTunes Library by using the conventional delete method or you can delete (or remove) any of the songs, films, Podcasts etc. from the iPod. Assuming you are using iTunes 11.1:
Connect your iPhone to your computer.
In iTunes towards the upper right of your screen you will see the name of your iPhone. Click on it (not the eject symbol.
This will open a series of windows with tabs.
Select the tab for photos.
Untick the ones you do not want on your iPhone and at the bottom right click on Apply.
They will be removed.

There are a number of ways to delete pictures from the Camera Roll. One is to open Camera Roll in the thumbnail view, tap the arrow button (top right), tap all the pictures you want to delete, tap the Delete button ant the bottom. Photo Library pictures are deleted by unchecking Sync Photos on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings, followed by syncing your phone.
