How to deliver PAL .mov

I need to deliver via FTP a 4min video in PAL format for broadcast.
I'll be shooting in DVCPRO-50 (4x3).
Is there a way to convert to h.264 in PAL format?
I'm very familiar with compression, but have never had a request to deliver in PAL. Is this something the person receiving should be handling?

Finish the project then drag the thing into Compressor. Under Advanced Standards conversion, you'll find the PAL preset.
It will take a while.
Alternatively, Graeme Nattress sells a standards conversion plugin for FCP that is very well regarded. It works faster than Compressor and yields (reportedly) better results.
Or, take it to a post house that has the hardware to do the conversion.

It seems as if the iPhone 4 outputs movies at 30 fps, (and can't be changed) - whereas my bridge camera can do 25 fps. Since for UK I need the end result to be in PAL @ 25 fps, how best to achieve this ?
My iMovie project, set for PAL/25 fps just slows the iPhone material down, which does not look good for street scenes where people are walking around.
Alternately if I only use iPhone footage I can have a 30 fps project, but apparently only as an NTSC one, which when made into a DVD using Toast 11, does not run well in my UK DVD player.

You need to make sure you author an NTSC DVD.
Most PAL DVD players can play NTSC DVDs, and most tvs can now play NTSC signals.

It may be that either your TV or your DVD player is converting NTSC to PAL on the fly (there is an option in many DVD players to convert rather then play native).
I would suggest you try to play the DVD on your computer.
If your computer does not show this pattern or effect then it is your DVD - TV set up.
If the DVD player on your computer shows these patterns, then your DVD encoding software is introducing them in the encode to Standard definition.
You can export the video as HD from the iPad and iPhone; and this has to be converted to SD to make a DVD.
You might be seeing a bad downscale, rather then a frame rate issue.

If you have a wireless network, you can enable file sharing with each and transfer select data from one to the other via your wi-fi network.
Or if you have an external drive used for backup purposes, you can transfer the movies that way.
If you have Home Sharing enabled with iTunes on each and a wireless network, you don't need to transfer anything unless you want the movie available when away from home.

Oops, I forgot a step between 7 and 8 ... before syncing the iPhone I need to explicitly send the document back to iTunes on the iPhone, or the changes won't come over at all ...
and then one more thing ... Numbers on iOS does NOT recognize a number of key features of the OSX app, such as conditional formatting ... so after editing my document on iOS and syncing it back to OSX on my Mac, all of those settings are lost (no more conditional formatting, have to do it all over again)

You can connect the iPad to your Mac's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, that should copy it over to the Movies part of your library.
Depending upon what country that you are in, and whether the film studio allows it, you might also be able to re-download it on your Mac via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page.

I think I found a solution to this problem. Go into the Video app and tap on TV Shows and then tap on the icon for the show that is downloading. Next to each episode, there is a circle with a square in the middle of it. Tap the square next to each episode and it will disappear both from that list and and from the downloading queue in the iTunes app. When you want to download a particular episode, go back into the show in the Video season and tap on Show Complete Season. Now each episode has its own Download button.
Needless to say, it is insane that when you redeem a season purchase on the iPad, it insists on downloading the entire season.
