How to deny an update on a specific computer?

One of our computers at the floor is receiving update: KB3008923
Breaking some thrid party application, the update is received via a downstream server, but this server receives the updates from a higher level server, the main upstream server at the corporate
offices.
how can i deny or avoid this computer from receiving this update? is it possible to set a rule on a specific machine from receiving this?

Create a child group of the WSUS Target Group that normally holds this computer.
Explicitly set the update to NotApproved for that child group.
MOVE the computer from the parent group to the child group.
The computer will continue to inherit all approvals from the parent group, except for the update(s) that have been explicitly overridden for the child group. When the need no longer exists, move the computer back to the parent group and delete the child
group.

There is a way to show the installation date of security updates installed on a specific computer ?
For listing all updates I found in ConfigMgr reports under "Software Updates - A. Compliance" a report: "Compliance 6 - Specific Computer" but the problem is that when is listed in web reports this doesn't contain a column with installation date. I tried
to modify it to add another column, but my knowledge in ms sql is very poor.

Emilian, not sure if you found an answer to this yet but I think this will give you what you need. LastStatusChangeTime is essentially the InstallDate if the patch was actually installed. If it was never installed, it will give you
the last time the update scan was run.

Cannot update firmware on specific computer

I've been having problems updating the firmware on my iPhone4 (and my friend's iPhone4) on my MacbookPro.
I've had this problem since I've gotten my iPhone 4 with firmware 4.2 trying to update to 4.2.1, 4.3, 4.3.1 and now 4.3.2. What I've had to do was update my iPhone 4 with my iMac and then restore from backup on my MacBook Pro. (this was one of the workarounds that Apple suggested on their knowledge base).
The strange thing is, I can update my iPhone 3GS with this MacbookPro just fine. But not iPhone 4.
I've tried to uninstall and reinstall iTunes... with no luck.
Symptoms:
When trying to update previously, the iTunes will delete the old firmware and try to install the new firmware. The process would hang at installation of the new firmware. The iPhone would display the picture that I should connect the iPhone to the computer for update. When it tries to install the firmware package, it would just error out and go back to the picture.
Now with the newest 4.3.2, iTunes won't even delete the old firmware from the phone. It would have the message saying something along the line that the firmware isn't compatible with this iPhone. But... I can take the same firmware from my MacbookPro to my iMac and it would update just fine.
Anyone has ideas why this is happening and how I can fix it? I'd really like to be able to just rely on my MBP especially since I'm on the road a lot.

I have had similar problems. Here is what I found. Not all USB ports are powered. Apple apparently (rightfully) thinks that when doing a major firmware update that the unit should be powered. I tried different USB ports until I found a "hot" one (charging indicator comes on on the phone) and use that one all the time. So far, so good.

In Numberland, a spreadsheet is an entire document.
There is no way to link different documents.
(2) in the message, you ask the way to link different tables.
This feature is available and is described in iWork Formulas and Functions User Guide (which is available for free from the Help menu).
Getting the info just requires a simple search in this available resource !

Regarding having them update the specs, one can dream. Dreams are free. LOL. Hopefully the memory makers will update their specs as more makers start supporting a large memory configuration.

I did not do an extended test of the sticks in my MBP. Their home is in the ThinkPad I have because it is running Windows Server 2008 with Hyper-V.
As you can see from the link above, these little suckers are pricey. But consider the price of 2GB SoDIMMs were $950 when they entered the market a couple of years ago. The price will drop.
I asked the Kingston rep that sent these to me if online sites like newegg.com would have them soon. She indicated no, but the corporate buying sites like CDW and Zone would. So check around. They just started shipped a couple of weeks ago so be patient.

You could go hunting for a fair price on a refurbished or restored Intel-based Mac or MacBook, as most early models of CoreDuo and Core2Duo can run Snow Leopard 10.6.8, and some much more recent.
The Apple Store's Special Deals section that is online has some fairly recent examples of hardware with an OS, original accessories as noted, power cord, and complementary one year coverage. Eligibility for extended AppleCare plans are noted & may be available for various items in the store. Subject to availability. Refurbished. Like new. The price difference can be about the same as the additional two year AppleCare plan may cost, so get that too.
Third party repaired restored or available through other channels vary in quality, quantity, condition, and may be lacking in some or most original accessories; they should include basic hardware as originally equipped and have the boot-install software disc set as intended for that build model & year specification, included.
Auction sites rarely have that much of a kit together, w/ missing discs, scruffy, extra fees, etc. On the other hand, companies that restore and repair Macs for a living and are authorized Apple service centers may have something, if you aren't in the market for something holiday new or really quick. Older models if reasonably refurbished can still shine years later.

Create/update trouble tickets for updating servers. I want to user PowerShell to get a list of the updates for a specific day.
I've found some things that were close and came up with this:

How do you access updates to apps from the App store after changing to a new ID because the password on the old ID was changed by the former husband and you don't know what it is now? And you set up your own new ID and account but can NOT access the updates, from the App store for the many apps that you already have, because they require that you sign in with that former now inaccessible ID and account and password? Call it a problem of modern times and changing relationships, if you want to be charitable.

So I guess it will only be new apps that I download that are allowed to give me their updates while 13 updates wait for me on an ID I can no longer access.

Update showing up in "Compliance 5 - Specific Computer" Report even after removing the update from the Software Update before creating Group and Package

So I've created a Software Update Group and I did NOT want anything in there dealing with Internet Explorer 11 since the organization is currently stuck at using 10 as the highest. So I made sure that Internet Explorer was NOT in the list and then I deployed
the package.
After running my Overall Compliance report it shows that the systems are compliant, but when I view the "Compliance 5 - Specific Computer" I see that "Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems" is listed in the report.
This is just a testing phase right now and I have not created a WSUS like Domain level GPO. I understand that the SCCM client creates a local policy on the clients for the location of the Software Update Point (Specify
Intranet Microsoft update service location), but the "Configure Automatic Updates" policy is set to Not Configured, which it looks like when this
is set, the "Install updates automatically (recommended)" at 3AM is the default.
Is the reason why the "Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems" update is showing up in the list due to the fact that the "Configure
Automatic Updates" policy is set to Not Configured
and therefore it is still reaching out to check Windows Update online?
So, if I do create a Domain level GPO to Disable the "Configure
Automatic Updates" policy, then the "Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems" update would not show up in the "Compliance 5 - Specific Computer" report?
By the way, I have a Software Update Maintenance Window configured for the hours of 1AM-4AM so the 3AM default time falls within this time frame, therefore, I am assuming the SCCM 2012 client will not allow the Windows Update Agent to install the "Internet
Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems" update, even though it has detected it is "Required".

But, don't you need a Deployment Package in order to deploy the Software Update Group? The Software Update Group uses the downloaded updates contained in the Deployment Package located in, wherever the Package Source is, right?
One more quick question that you will know right off hand, because, well, you just will I'm sure.
No. The software update group really has nothing to do with any update packages. The update group assigns updates to clients and in turn clients use update packages to download assign and applicable updates from. There is no connection between the two though
as the client can download an update from any available update package. Thus, it's more than possible to updates in an update package that are not in any update groups and it is also possible for an update to be in an update group without being in any update
package.
If the "Configure Automatic Updates" policy is set to "Not Configured" and since this keeps the 3AM Automatic Updates default, if I was to remove the Software Update Maintenance Window from being between 1AM-4AM, will the WUA agent install updates
at 3AM, or no because the SCCM 2012 client still manages and oversees it and basically blocks that from occurring?
No, ConfigMgr does not in any way block the WUA; however, the WUA can only autonomously install updates it downloads directly from WSUS. Thus, since there are no updates approved or downloaded in your WSUS instance, there's nothing for it to download and
install. If you happen to actually be going into WSUS and approving updates (which you should not be doing as its unsupported), then yes, it actually would install updates -- this is outside of ConfigMgr's control though. Generally, disabling the WUA via a
GPO is the recommended to prevent any accidental installations or reboots (as the WUA wil also check for initiate pending reboots outside of ConfigMgr).

How to install this update and solve USB and touchpad issues?

I have Equium M50 (59E) and got bitten by an update that took out my touchpad and keyboard .I have made fresh install of XP Home and have all updated drivers and all is going well .The last update i cant seem to fathom is for
Driver Ana _2005_10_24_V1.2 it is for ,Standard Open HCD USB Host Controller........X 2 .........
The update fixes all kinds of issues of the kind i am having and is a recomended update from Driver detective ,that i use offten .
The trouble is it says to uninstall drivers for the one i have installed allready and when i do this it knocks off my USB mouse leaving me not able to install the new ones .When i reboot it installs the ones i dont want reinstalled .

How to send an updated list using batch job

Hi All,
The program displays data on the screen, if the data looks ok, then there is an option to update.
When I run update, the program submits a batch job and the basic list gets updated, but my batch job is still sending the data on the screen. how can i send the updated list using batch job.
Ex: output of the program

       there is an update button on the screen, when i press update button, my program submits in batch job, the above list becomes

but when i check the spool, it shows the o/p as         1           2 ..it is not sending the updated list.
Please suggest me how to send the updated data
