How to deploy java stand alone applications

I need to find information on how to deploy java classes to just run time clients.
I appretiate any help on this.

Probably yes. It is possible to write a lunch application. But what considerations do I have to take. Let's say, Since Forte for Java 4 does not use CLASSPATH environment variable, How do I tell the JRE where my classes are located? I tried running
javaw c:\directory\classname.class
...but I receive a message saying that the main class was not found...
Do you know why this could be?

  • Deploying Java stand alone application in Weblogic server

    Hi All,
We have an java stand alone application which our client uses. Suddenly they came up with a requirement of using this application from web logic server. We have following directory structure for our application
    myapp
    - config -> contains all configuration files
    - logs -> contains log files
    - ssl -> ssl related files
    - samples ->contians stub's
    - myapp.jar
How to deploy our standalone application in to weblogic server?.
We tried putting whole myapp folder in WEB-INF folder , and from the servlet we are able to invoke an method in an class file( in myapp.jar say Test.getInstance()) but it couldnt find configuration files (in config folder ) and it is throwing an error. We have a class called Test in myapp.jar and when we call getInstance of the class it loads all config files - config file location is hardcoded as /config/myconfig.xml , and we are facing problem here because it couldnt find myconfig.xml.
We also tried packaging whole myapp folder in to jar , but with that also we faced the same problem
Please let us know are we proceeding in the right way and how to deploy our application in weblogic server. We dont prefer making changes to our code at this point of time.
Any info on this will be very helpful to us.
    Regards,
    Suresh

    Hi René van Wijk,
Thanks for quick reply. Link you mentioned gave a basic idea of application structure , but still i couldnt get deployment process.
Am very much new to weblogic. Can you please let me know how to deploy our standalone application in to weblogic, with out making any changes to the code.
Below is folder structure of my java stand alone application *( not webapplication)*
    myapp
    - config -> contains all configuration files , for ex:- myconfig.xml
    - logs -> contains log files
    - ssl -> ssl related files
    - samples ->contians stub's
    - myapp.jar
We have logic to load configuration file (config/myconfig.xml) , in an class and we are not allowed to make any changes to this code, so we cant use Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResource(...) .

  • Installing Java Stand alone Application on other PCs

    Dear All
I am very new user to Java programming. I have recently finished developing basic Java Application that interacts with MySQL Database. The application does pretty standard database tranctions.
Now i would like to install this finished appliction on other PCs as stand alone program (hope i am making myself clear here). Sort of I need to make an installation package that will install the Basic application and MySQL database on the the other PCS.
Please desparetly help needed on this matter. I appreciate all your inputs Thank you.

it would be much much easier if you weren't using MySQL to be honest. if you used a pure-java database such as Hypersonic, the database could just be bun dled as a bean with your application.

  • How to include dll into a stand-alone application

Hi, I wrote a vi to process images from my camera, and I want to build a stand-alone application(exe), so I can share the application with my friends. I just do as wht's in  the Labview help, but when I run the exe file in other PC, it  tells me I haven't nivision.dll etc. My question is how to find out the dll files in my vi and include these files in the stand-alone application?

To be honest I am not sure. Its been a while since have used the vision run-time engine. Before I installed it on the target computer. I ddn't include it with my application build.
Take a look at this http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/1A9A18AA574ABEDF86256F780062C240 it might help. Also look at the documentation supplied with the vision deployment license.

  • How to use Preloader with stand-alone application in Eclipse? Thank you.

My IDE is eclipse and my project is a stand-alone application(pure CS architecture with OSGI framework).
How to use Preloader thus the preloader would be started before my main Application and hid later?
I found some code in http://docs.oracle.com/javafx/2/deployment/preloaders.htm#BABGGDJG
but I still don't know how to deploy the Preloader with my startup Application in OSGI framework.
I give some code of my startup application below:

        private static Stage primaryStage;
         public void start(final Stage stage)
            throws BusinessException

  • How do you create a stand alone application using DAQmx when your application SCXI hardware isn't on the computer I am using to create the application?

How do you create a stand alone application using DAQmx when your application SCXI hardware isn't on the computer I am using to create the application? The DAQmx assitant won't allow me to create a task with hardware that isn't in my system.

You will need to have at least the DAQ device in your computer to add the chassis. When you add the chassis, don't auto detect the modules. You will have to add the terminal blocks and tell MAX which SCXI module will be connected to the DAQ device. Just make sure you don't test the chassis, when its not there.
    I hope this helps.

  • How build stand alone application without labview

I have main vi and contain the sub vi i need build stand alone application without labview
how build stand alone application without labview?
    thank and regard

I assume that the poster means to run this on a computer without the development environment installed.  That is what the app builder is for. Review Altenbach's post.  This being said, there will need to be a runtime engine installed on the target PC. You can 'bundle' that with your build application and install it together, although I usually prefer Not to do that, and make that a seperate step because it is rather large, and if the target already has it, then it is wasted space.  Speaking of run time engine, I have seen negative reactions to it by my customers, but after sitting down and explaining that, with few exceptions, every application requires a run time engine. It is just that some are bundled with windows, or installed through windows update.  Once explained, it usually quiets the opposition. [Paul steps off soap box now]

  • How to use matlab codes in a stand alone application without matlab license?

    Hi,
I am not an expert in programming and i don't know about C++, i have a program using matlab codes and now i want to transfer it to a computer without matlab license. I've read something about using DLL, but i think i have to know C++ programming  to wrtie "WRAPPER" and add some lines to the program, now transformed in C++.
I just would llike to know that really isn't any other way to integrate matlab for a stand-alone application? i read somethings in Matlab help about using COM (Common Object Model ) but i am not sure that labview works with it, and also about runtime engine and "mglinstaller.exe".
my labview version is 8, matlab is 2006, and the real problem is using matlab codes in another computer without matlab license.
    Thanks
    Amir

    Hello Amir,
There is a MatLab script node in the LabVIEW function palette (see screenshot of the help topic) but as you can see this structure is not in the "Base LabVIEW", you might need to purchase the FDS (Full Developpment System) or the PDS (Professionnal Developpment System) of LabVIEW...
Do you know which one you have ?
    Hope this helps

  • T's possible to use the jsp to develop stand-alone application?????

Hello everybody, I would like to know your considerations about this topics: It's possible to use jsp to develop stand-alone application that will be not run on the server but on the local machine? There are some negative aspects on make this? Thank you for your reply

i don't think you could ever protect the jsp code and it wouldn't do you much good to bother anyway, since anyone with a browser can just "View Source" and see all the HTML on the page anyway.
the only thing you would want to protect is your java source. you don't have to distribute the .java files with your application, just the .class's. you could try and obfuscate the .class files, but a determined person will always be able to reverse it back to a .java program and read it. it would take a bit of work and knowhow though, so figure out how smart the consumer is going to be and if they will be able to figure out how to reverse .class files back to .java

    Hi,
I try to create an Stand-Alone Application with labview 2011. Hi nki,
To include the ocx and dll files you will need to build an executable for your VI and then create an installer for the additional files. I have linked 2 documents that will explain each of these steps. If you have any questions with this let me know.

  • Setting Current Values as Default in Stand-Alone Application ?

    Hi
I have a stand-alone application using LabVIEW run-time and I want the user to be able to make the choice if he wants to retain the default values or modify them ? I know you can't use the invoke node and set the current values to default because that works only in EDIT mode. I saw some postings where there was a talk about using configuration VIs. I am not sure how to use them. Also is there some other way I can accomplish this ?
    Thanks
    Sridhar
    P.S: I use LabVIEW 7.0
Kudos always welcome for helpful posts

I would use a configuration file to hold default values for my controls. When the vi starts, prompt the user to select default values or to modify. You can use a two button dialog to do this. Wire the output to a case structure. If the user selects default, read the config file and use the values to set your controls values. If the user selects modify, call a subvi that gives the user an interface to modify the values. You can start with the old default values. This subvi would have a loop, waiting for the user to press either a cancel button or a change button. If the user makes changes and presses the change button, exit the loop and write these new values to the config file. If cancel is selected, exit the loop and do not write to the config file. Upon returning to the main, read the config file and set the control values accordingly. You can even go a step further and create a "factory default" file. This file would be read only. The user can be given a choice to select this file in case he made changes and saved them to the config file, and the new changes were all screwed up.
Config files are nothing more than a file containing keys which represents controls, and the data values for those controls. There are examples located at \examples\file\config.llb.

  • Stand-alone application generates error with function 'Ramp Pattern' (bug in application builder?)

    Hello,
in my program a main.vi links to a sub-VI via 'open VI reference' and 'invoke node'. In this sub-VI the function 'Ramp Pattern' is used. The program itself runs normally, but if I build a stand-alone application using application builder I get an error message 'error 1003 occurred ..'. I believe this error is directly related to the build specifications which are as follows: the main.vi is referenced in a main build specification, the sub-VI in its own specification where the target is a LLB.
I appended an example-program that exhibits the error (when executing 'Application.exe' and pressing 'calculate ramp'). The error does not occur when disabling the 'ramp pattern' function and rebuilding the application.
I would rate this to be a bug in the application builder and would appreciate any help on how to solve this problem. However, due to the structure of the whole program the sub-VI has to remain in its own LLB.

There can be reasons why a VI might appear broken when loaded from an executable. For example, if you have different versions of the same VI or enum that differ in such a way as to break the calling VI, that can cause a broken arrow when loaded from the executable. If you have DLLs being called and the runtime engine can't find the DLL, that can cause a broken arrow that you might not see otherwise. Finally, there is a bug related to a VI appearing broken when its not.
