How to detect a new NIC installation
Hi all,
I'm new to the Solaris (Sun) environment, so for most of you the question will sound pretty stupid.
I've heard that under solaris 8, there is a way to force the os to autodetect new devices installation. What is that sequence of arguments that I have to give Reboot?
Or, what is the software that will autodetect the new sun NIC i've isntalled?

At the OK prompt, just type "boot -r" .
The r option will tell the kernel to identify any new hardware and
rebuild/reconfigure itself.HTH

How do I move my iPhone to a new iTunes installation?
Hi folks,
I have a new Windows 7 computer and want to sync my iPhone with it, but iTunes says it's going to delete all of my data. My old computer that I used to sync with is gone; the drive has been reformatted.
I don't care about the music on the phone; I have all of that on my server. However, I'm worried sick about my apps and the data stored within them!! I have years worth of life data, journals, etc, in apps on this phone. How do I tell iTunes, "This is my new computer now; back up and sync here from now on?"
Here's what I've done so far:
1. I authorized the new iTunes installation with my iTunes account.
2. I right-clicked on the phone within iTunes and selected "Transfer Purchases." It appeared to work, said it was copying all of my apps. But when I go to the Apps tab and click "Sync Apps", it tells me it's going to replace all of the apps on my phone with the apps in iTunes. However, I only see two (out of dozens) of my apps there! Did "Transfer Purchases" not do what I expected it to? How can I fix this?
Thank you!It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
The iphone will sync pics and itunes content with one and only one computer at a time. If you sync to another, it will indeed erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.
Also if you sync contacts/calendars to a blank computer, they will be erased as well. Another reason a backup is critical.
If you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good)then, transfer purchases will transfer itunes purchases. Make sure you have authorized the computer for your itunes account(s).

Enter one unique contact and calendar entry on the new computer. When you first sync you should get the option to merge the data.
Than make a backup copy of your computer and always maintain it. -
How to make iTunes detect the new location of music files?
Hi everyone. I moved all of my music to a different location on my hard drive, and I changed the location in iTunes preferences, but it doesn't seem to detect this, so my library is empty now. I saved an itl, xml, and temp file as well, but I don't know what to do from here.
I also tried dragging the new music folder onto the "Library" entry in iTunes, and this added everything, but I no longer have my ratings, playlists or anything like that.
Is there some other way to have iTunes detect the new location? And can I get back my ratings and playlists?
Thanks.iTunes doesn't use file names to determine how music appears in your library, Rather, it uses metadata that is split between:
data elements that are embedded within the media files
data elements that are included in the entries in the iTunes database
No amount of reorganization, renaming or other manipulation at the file level will make any difference to how songs will appear in iTunes. Using your example:
the value of the track number element is 1
the value of the artist element is "Elvis Presley"
the value of the song name element is "Blue Suede Shoes"
Depending on how you configure iTunes then the file name is either:
completely independent of iTunes (i.,e., the file containing this song could be xyz.mp3)
dependent on the metadata managed by iTunes, (i.e., when you have these two options set:
then iTunes will set the file name to be 1-01 Blue Suede Shoes.mp3 where:
the file is in a folder called "Elvis Presley" (the name of the album)
that folder is in one called "Elvis Presley" (the name of the artist) which is in iTunes Media\Music
Going back to your question "How to make iTunes read the song's name/singer from the file's name" the answer is simple - you can't, as this is not how iTunes works. There are some third-party utilities that you can use to set some metadata element values based on parsing of file names which might be a useful first step. However, to use iTunes effectively you should really forget about / ignore file names - manage your media using appropriate metadata and allow iTunes to look after file names behind the scenes. -

More details would help...what have you done to get to a white screen? Were you in the process of reinstalling Mac OS X? Or something else?
In general, to reinstall Mac OS X, restart the Mac and hold the Command and R keys. From the Utilities drop down select Install Mac OS X and the system will download the installer. You w I'll then follow the instructions to install.
By the way, you posted in the iMac PPC forum, this belongs in Yosemite from what you show on your info line, I will ask for relocation. -

I downloaded new CC SDK but unfortunatelly in html doc there is not info how to detect a plug-in path for new Photoshop CC. Pdf doc also contains very old info (still for Photoshop 5.0)
- Could you advice how my installers can detect new Photoshop CC and detect a target place for plug-in installation? Forboth win and Mac cases.
- Is CC a pure 64bit windows app or it also can be presented into both C:\Program files and C:\Program files(x86) folders?

I checked this approach for CS4. In my winRegistry there is not {06870682-6f3c-4b97-9143-f03e85c0 bd3e} key. Should it work only for CC?
Previously, I checked "HKLM\Software\Adobe\Photohsop" and found all presented PSD versions, like #12 for CS5, #55 for CS5.5 #60 for CS6. And Wow6432Node accordingly
Will this approach work if I will search for CC the key like "HKLM\Software\Adobe\Photohsop\80\PluginPath" ? (if I had PSD CC I could check it but I dont wan to install it yet for dont break my currect working environment)
Also, could you advise what it default installation path for Mac? Some like "/Applications/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CC" ? Will CC have same plug-ins subfolder like previously versions?

Unable to start message server after NIC installation
I installed a fresh Solaris 10, it worked all fine. Because it does not support my NIC, so I downloaded a free sfe driver for my NIC, and installed it. The driver worked for me, but after that, ODE is unable to start. I think the new driver installation is the problem, but don't how to resolve it. Anyone can help me out of there please?
I have resolved the problem. I created /etc/defaultrouter for my office LAN. When I don't have connection to that router, the problem will ocur. So I just simply remove the file, then, it works!

How to create a new connection from SAPGUI to Test drive?

I have installed Sap Netweaver Test drive on a linux virtual machine (windows host). The installation was successful and I was able to start the instance (application server and the database), yet I don't know how to create a new connection from my SAPGUI client (7.20) to this server. The static IP address of the server is 192.168.1.160.
I entered the following values for my new connection entry
Description: SAP Netweaver
Application server: 192.168.1.160
Instance number: 01
System ID: DB2
SAProuter: /H/192.168.1.160/S/3201/H/
But it does not work. Any idea about the values needed for creating a new entry?

How can I install new windows on NB200-10z without a CD drive?

I have a mini laptop "Toshiba nb200-10z" and it doesnt startup anymore.
I would like to do a recovery, but it also doesnt work.
I know there is a shortcut like press the 0 button when the laptop is starting up.
With this shortcut you can start the recovery to reset the software.
But when I press the 0 button it gives me an error.
So I think the recovery drive/partition is lost.
How can I install new windows on this minilaptop without a CD drive?I have found a much easier way to install Windows 7 from a USB Flash drive. Unlike other methods where you have to write complicated commands, this method can be completed even by those who have very little computer background.
The whole process takes only two steps, run UNetbootin, load the Windows 7 ISO file, and finally restart your computer.
Before you begin, you will require the following:
USB Flash Drive (4GB minimum)
Windows 7 ISO Image file
UNetbootin
Note: If UNetbootin doesnt work, try out the Microsofts official tool called Windows 7 USB/DVD Tool.
Now insert the USB drive, run UNetbootin, and select Disk Image as ISO. Browse your local drive for Windows 7 ISO that you downloaded and click Open. Now Select Type as USB and choose the drive. Once done, it will look like a bit similar to the screenshot shown below.
Click OK and it will begin extracting all installation files to the USB drive. The whole process will take some time (10-15 minutes), so have patience.
Once the installation is complete, reboot your computer. Now while your system is starting up press the appropriate button (usually F1, F2, F12, ESC, Backspace, or Escape) to bring up Bios Boot Menu.
Change the startup order to boot USB by default, usually you will have to press F6 to move the selected USB device on top. Once done, save changes and restart the system.

How to detect if a user has changed a record using a custom method?
I am in the process of developing a test case application using ADF JSF and a collection of Java objects that are not populated by a database.

I have set the edit page up (as described in the other post) and this works fine, but how could I tell if the user has changed something on that record. This is what I would like to do, but am not sure how to achieve it or whether it is possible....
when the user puts a record in edit mode, take a copy of that record
then when the user presses save or exit to navigate away from the edit page do a comparison between the original values and the potentially changed ones
then depending on the outcome of the comparison call an appropriate action

DavidIf you just want to know if the value has changed you can put it in a while loop and use shift registers to see if the value has changed.

It really depends on how your portal is set up. And there are 101 ways this could have been done.
I've used the Home Page Framework as an easy to define and extend framework to show applications. I've used it both for ESS and MSS, Using the HPF requires that an application has an iView in the portal.
The main point to be made here is that this is not a Web Dynpro ABAP specific question - but rather one about MSS portal implementation - you would probably be better posting a question in either one of the ESS/MSS or Portal forums.
As it is not a WDA specific question, I'd ask that you kindly close this thread and reopen in another forum.

Since asking the question I have a workaround. Load your photos into iCloud on the PC.They will then appear on the iPad in all photos. Create a new album on the iPad [plus sign top left corner]. Select your photos to place into the album. Press add [top line] and the photos pop into the album. This will then appear in iCloud on the PC. Be nice if there was a create new album on the PC. All done in windows 7.

How to detect the path of Temp directory
I am writing a class library which allows users to manipulate a database in the web server java applications/applets. In my logic the Application/Applet communicate with a CGI script/Servlet in the server and that do all the database handling. My objective is to make the Client independant from the Database Drivers, and to some restrictions and possible security threats that can arrice when accessing the database directly.
99% of the work is done and now I am doing the fine tuning.
My Problem:
When the user downloading a blob object from the server database. each time the program read the blob it will get a new copy from the server. This is not good if the blob is large (few 100 megs) . So I am going to implement a cache system. but the problem is If I am caching in the memory it will not support large objects (Memory is a limited factor). So the preferance is use the Temperary files but I do not know how to detect the path to temperary folder.
And my 2nd questions is are the applets allowed to write and read in temperary folder.The Java default temporary file path can be determined with
System.getProperty("java.io.tmpdir")This is typically the same value as the os environment variable -
How to detect collssion for random or Duplicated movie clips
Hey guys .. i am back with set of query..till now .. key
press movement a rocket (mc) is moving left right up down in a
defined stage area. and i am able to generate some fire balls
randomize falling from top. this is just i am duplicating the movie
clip(fireball_mc) .... now i want incase or when the rocket (mc)
touch the fire ball programm shold detect the collsion and generate
a score board. well for this i have tried a script for two movie
clips ... wchich is working but ..i don know or i m not gettng the
logic how to detect the collission for duplicated movie clips...

I got my newly bought (within 30 days) ipad mini cracked, and the screen was broken, where can I find a place(montreal) to replace it, and how much will it cost? Can i get a free replacement in apple store since within 30 days?

Safari refuses to load webpages after update
Since updating to Safari 5.1 if I attempt to log on to a website, the progress bar moves slightly before stopping and the page refuses to open. Oddly it works with no problem on my wife's account (OS has 2 accounts, mine being the admin). You can see
