How to determine application architecture in terminal

I'm wondering how Finder determines on which architecture an application is able to run.
Using ditto --arch it is possible to extract PPC, PPC64 and i386 from a Mach-O application.
But HOW can Finder tell that an application ist Classic ? Or is it also possible to determine Motorla 68000 architecture in old classic fat binarys ?
I'm interested in that because I've got an iMac Core Duo that does not support classic any more and I want to find all classic apps on all my Fire Wire harddrives.
thanks in advance

iMac Core Duo 20"   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Hi Michael,
The UNIX utility, "file" can distinguish between Cocoa and Carbon apps in many cases. Carbon apps usually return "header for PowerPC PEF executable". Compiled objective C, C++, and C executables return "Mach-O executable <Architecture>". Compiled Java classes return "compiled Java class data". Carbon apps for MacOS X return the same thing as classic applications. While they are almost the same thing, there are differences and I don't know how to spot them.
Of course Cocoa applications are usually inside application bundles and if you apply the "file" utility to the containing directory, you will of course get an answer of "directory". You must apply file to the executable inside the bundle. The main one is always inside the Contents/MacOS subdirectory and always has the same name as the bundle, minus the ".app" suffix.

  • How to determine termination point of call

We're using UCCE 7.2 and are moving to 9.0 in a few weeks.  One of the questions that we have had is how to determine the termination point of a call.  I'm looking for a way to report through either the HDS or call manager whether the agent or the caller disconnected the call.
Does anyone know if there is a way to identify this in any of the reporting databases available?
    Thanks,
    Randy Black

I should probably provide a bit more detail about what I'm trying to determine.  We have two different situations:
1: Customer reports that a call was disconnected.  Agent reports that they did not hang up on the customer and we need to determine if the call was terminated by the agent or the customer.
2: We offer a post-call survey using a custom CVP application.  Customers opt in to the survey at the beginning of the CVP call flow, the customer makes their IVR selections and are routed to an agent.  Once the agent disconnects, the customer is routed back to CVP to take the post-call survey.  We have quite a few customers that opt in for the survey, but never complete the survey.  We know that some number of these are not taken because the customer forgets or changes their mind, but suspect that number of these are not completed because the agent does not disconnect the call so the customer is never routed to the survey.  We have a policy in place that requires the agent to disconnect the call after the call is completed, but want to determine what agents are not disconnecting the calls.
I'm looking to determine agent vs. customer termination on all calls so we can confirm who disconnected.
I've looked at the records in the Termination Call Detail on the HDS, but have been told that this is not a great way to identify this information so I'm looking for any alternatives that are more accurate for this reporting.
    Thanks,
    Randy

  • How does Facebook application utilize Blackberry push based architecture?

    Hi Friends,
I have posted this message in Blackberry Java Development forum. But was told that "if you are not RIM you will not be able to use the push-architecture with BIS".
Here goes the actual message. Please provide your valuable inputs.
I am developing an Blackberry client application which will be similar to Facebook application for Blackberry.
Since, this application can be  download by any blackberry user who would be subscribed to different BES or BIS, how will the push based architecture of BB work here.
See my previous post 'Push content to devices on different BES' (http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=java_dev&message.id=3196&jump=true#M3196), which says that push will work through BES.
    If that is the case,
How does the FaceBook application for Blackberry work?
Users who download the Fackebook application will definetly not be on the same BES or might be on BIS as well.
Then how will Facebook application receive notificatios and messages instantly using blackberry's push architecture?
Does RIM provide any framework or support for developing facebook like applications which would utilize push architecture irrespective of BES or BIS?
    Thanks,
    Suresh.

Facebook doesn't use the BlackBerry network, it uses the standard data network.  If you're on BES, that typically is routed through your BES server.  If you're not on a BES, it will use BIS.
I don't believe the application is a "push" application either - it's more likely a real time IM client.

in app store some applications are of very small size like 15-20 Mb and after installing them they become more than 100 mb. how to determine their actual size???

The app store size is probably just the software, while the size on your iPhone includes data.
You can determine the size on your iPhone by looking at Settings > General > Usage.

  • How to organize  project structure  for big application architecture

    Hi all:
We prepare to construct a medium erp project using JHeadstart,
so we have some application system like human resource, accounting, inventory, ...
What's the best suite to organize application project architecture ?
we have this issue about application architecture:
1.how to fulfill large scale application and must to share some common view object and entity object in all application, May we to break the application down into multiple BC4J packae in same project or separate each subsystem in each project folder?

You can definitely organize your applications into as many packages as makes sense for your overall design.
You can create and deploye packages of BC4J components in simple *.jar archives and then uses features of JDeveloper to import those shared packaged of components in a read-only mode in projects that need to make use of them.

  • [Forum FAQ] How to deploy applications remotely

In some situations, we may need some ways to install applications remotely, here we summarize four general ways to deploy applications.
    1. Using PowerShell to install
We can use the Win32_Product class to install Windows Installer packages, remotely or locally, so in this way, we can use powerShell command to invoke this function. For example, to install the NewPackage.msi package located in the network
share \\AppServ\remote on the remote computer PC01, type the following command at the Windows PowerShell prompt:
    (Get-WMIObject -ComputerName PC01 -List | Where-Object -FilterScript {$_.Name -eq "Win32_Product"}).Install(\\AppSrv\remote\NewPackage.msi)
In same method, we can use the following command to deploy .exe application:
    (Get-WMIObject -ComputerName PC01 -List | Where-Object -FilterScript {$_.Name -eq "Win32_Process"}).Create(\\AppSrv\remote\NewPackage.exe)
Note: The applications should use Windows Installer technology.
    2. PsExec tool: one of sysinternals utilities
PsExec's most powerful uses include launching interactive command-prompts on remote systems and remote-enabling tools like IpConfig that otherwise do not have the ability to show information about remote systems. So, we can use this feature to install our
applications, in fact this is similar with PowerShell methods, the only difference is that PsExec is a comprehensive tool. Similarly, we can use the following command to achieve our goal:
    psexec \\PC01  cmd /c  "\\AppSrv\remote\NewPackage.msi" /quiet /norestart
Note: we can also use PsExec tool to install Microsoft Update file (.msu)
    psexec \\PC01  -s -h -d wusa.exe  "\\AppSrv\remote\NewPackage.msu" /quiet /norestart
    3. Group Policy Software Installation
In domain environment, this method is very useful to deploy our software. It only supports MSI package for deployment.
We can choose assign a program to user or computer. If you assign the program to a user, it is installed when the user logs on to the computer. When the user first runs the program, the installation is completed. If you assign the program to a computer,
it is installed when the computer starts, and it is available to all users who log on to the computer. When a user first runs the program, the installation is completed.
You can get the installation information of group policy software installation in event viewer, including success or failure.
    4. System Center Configuration Manger
The Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager software distribution feature provides a set of tools and resources that help you create and manage packages and advertisements used to distribute software to client resources within your enterprise. This
is a comprehensive suit for deployment.

Applications that do not use Windows Installer technology may have application-specific methods for automated deployment. For example, a .exe file may be just a wrapper, it can be anything. To determine whether there is a method for deployment automation,
check the documentation for the application or consult the application vendor's support system. In some cases, even if the application vendor did not specifically design the application for installation automation, the installer software manufacturer may have

  • How do I fix the error: Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException'

    Help!
I have a 3rd party application that used to work perfectly until this morning. The problem is not do to an update of that program nor of updating the Mac OS. This came out of the blue. When I try to open the application, it won't open and I get the error: Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException'
I looked around the forum and read it might be because of a bad font? But I don't find detailed instructions on how to delete or fix the corrupted font.
I have tried deleting the application, then downloading a new copy and installing that - same problem.
Please don't respond with I should go call the programmer of the 3rd party application. If you know where the problem is in my MacBook Air, please help me fix it.

  • Fatal Error has occured and the application is being terminated

It seems that Captivate is eating my projects.  I've started my second project (after completing my first without any errors) and I'm constintly getting corrupted files.  It set me back at least a few hours worth of work.  So I started creating backup files every 10mins, regardless of how much work i've done.  Everything was going fine, until I took an hour break and went to resume my work.
When I try to open my file I get the following pop up message when trying to open my file: "Adobe Captivate - A fatal error has occured and the application is being terminated. Adobe Captivate has tried to save all your work in the respective project folder as .cpbackup files.  Please restart Adobe Captivate."
I can click on the program workspace and not click ok on the error message to keep the file open.  I see my slides and objects, but all the text is missing.
I'm using Captivate 5.5 and windows 7 64.  Within Captivate, I'm using standard objects with importing MP3 audio files and some Photoshop images.  I have a total of 4 slides with 1 being 3.5mins long and the rest are less than 1min.
When I first started having this problem, I thought maybe the variable files were corrupte so I deleted the Users/name/appdata/local/adobe/Captivate5.5 directory to see if that was the issue.  That was before this last stint of errors.
I tried opening a backup that was like 10 saves ago, but it displays the same message.
I'm not sure what to do next.

Failed to back up the data. A fatal error has occured and the application is being terminated.
This question is Not Answered.(Mark as assumed answered)

  • How to determine the ROWNUM in a Master Detail Form

    Hello,
I am working in a Master Detail Form with Orders and Order Items Information; and I created a process that allows the users to select a Product ID on a tabular form, and the next column is populated automatically with the Product Description.
To achieve that, I followed some instructions by Denes Kubicek (http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:241), but my case is slightly different:
<ul>I am using a wizard-created tabular form, instead of a manual tabular form; and </ul>
<ul>Instead of using another page as a Popup to pass the parameter of the ROWNUM, I am using a plug-in called “Tabular Form Super LOV” which is a modified version of the SkillBuilders’ Super LOV that works on Tabular Forms. </ul>
The Product ID is returned in the correct row by the plug-in; but in the case of the Product Description, it is always returned into the first row; and my problem is that I don't know how to determine the row where the user clicked to call the plug-in.
I set up an example in apex.oracle.com in case someone would like to look at it:
    Workspace: ediazjorge
    Username: test
    Password: test
    App Name: Sample App
    App Number: 1550
BTW, I am using Apex 4.1.1.00.23 and Oracle DB 10.3.2.
    Thanks in advance,
    Erick

    Hello VC,
Thank you for your time and help.
Unfortunately, it is still not working properly:
    1. When the Popup LOV opens, the first row of the tabular form is 0, the second row is 1, and so on. How can I assign the values starting with 1 and in the format *0001* ? (I am still a novice on Apex and new to JavaScript :-), sorry about that).
--2. Also, when I close the Popup LOV, the value of P1_ROWNUM is ‘undefined’ again so I'm not sure if the Product Name column will be populated.--
    3. And finally, you are using the jQuery Selector uPopupLOVIcon, which is an attribute of the Cloudy Theme. In my real application (Apex 4.1.1.00.26), my element looks like: *<img src="/i/lov_16x16.gif" width="16" height="16" alt="Popup Lov" alt="List" style="vertical-align:middle;" align="middle" />*. What do you recommend me to use as a jQuery Selector?
Again, I really appreciate your help and time. I think you solved the most difficult part.
    Thank you so much,
    Erick
Update: I just found out that the problem with my comment 2 is because I didn’t delete the previous dynamic action that set the value to P1_ROWNUM.

    Hi,
I created one accessment cycle with couple of segments. While executing this assessment cycle one of the segment is erroring out and it's throwing a runtime error. I searched in OSS and didn't find the right one. I really appreciate your thoughts and answers.

Thanks for your quick response Baranyai and we set transfer prices indicator at controlling area level and it's related to profit center valuation. How is going to impact on Assessment cycle and it doesn't appear while creating and executing assessment cycle. I may be wrong and really appreciate your help.

  • How to determine the field size

I am going to make a multiplatform application that hopefully
will run on linux and windows 2000.If the os is 2000, then I will use
vb.net/aspx else I'll use java servlets. I make the connection
to the web server ( through HTTP) not directly to database server.
So, the resultset will be stored in the String object. The columns
will be separated by delimeter. Our problem is how to determine
the size and type of the fields of mssql, oracle and postgres database
so that we can include it in the String object.
    Ex.
    String sResultSet=new String();
    ResultSet rs=statement.executeQuery(sSQL);
    while(rs.next()){
    sResultset=sResultSet + rs.getString(field1) + "||" + rs.getString(field2) + "||";
    vertical bars acts as delimeter
    supposedly this is the code:
    sResultset=sResultSet + rs.getString(field1) +"_" + rs.getFieldType() + "_"+
    rs.getFieldSize() + "||" + rs.getString(field2) +"_" + rs.getFieldType() + "_"+
    rs.getFieldSize() + "||";
supposedly this is the code if rs.getFieldType() and rs.getFieldSize() methods are existing
Anyone can give me an idea how to get the field type and field size of the database?
    thanks in advance

Yes, but I dont know how to do it.
Can you give me an example of using it.
    Thanks in advance
