How to determine hostname or IP addr. of server we loaded from?

Hi All,
Does anyone know of a reliable way of determining the IP
addr. or hostname of the server that the Flex app. was launched
from? My application needs to make a connection back to the server,
but the server could be at various IP addresses / host names.

Thanks for my response, but my situation is that I develop my
apps on one machine and run the back end services on that same
machine in a testing environment. So when testing I want to connect
to localhost for debugging. But when deployed on the real server
the Flex app. should connect to servername, the real hostname of
the server it's deployed at. I can't yet figure out how to have
Flex determine the name of the host from which it was
launched.

I would say that there are different types of false positives. Do you mean, how do I determine if what what was seen actually represents an attempt to access the SAM database? I would start by looking at MySDN (or whatever Cisco is calling it these days...intellishield?). It's often not very up to date and missing information, but it's an easy thing to check. Here's the link for this sig:

If you look at the benign triggers, you'll see that it suggests that this only matters if the source is external. It's up to you whether to research any further. If you really want to inspect the signature further, you'll have to add one of the "log packets" actions. This will save a network trace when it fires again and then you can open it up in Wireshark, which understands SMB and will probably decode it enough for you to verify whether it actually was an attempt to access the "Remote SAM server".

We have a situation where we are trying to backup an oracle DB's on our clusters. We are performing both hot and cold backups. During a cold backup, we take the database completely down and the other where we put the DB into hot backup mode.
In the coldbackup case, we simply take the oracle RS offline and in the hotbackup case, the oracle RS in still online. The scripts are ran from cron on each cluster node.
In the coldbackup case, As a consistency/error check I would like to first check the status of the oracle rs and see if it is online somewhere in the cluster.
in the hot backup case, I need to run the script from the cluster node that RG/RS is running on.
Since I am checking status and return codes, I don't want to use scstat and grep to get this information if I can avoid it, but, I would either write a C program or script to do this.
Any ideas or sugguestions would be greatly appreciated

You can use the Sun Cluster library functions, have a look at the manpage for scha_calls(3ha).
In your specific case you could have a cronjob running on each node. The first thing it would do is to check if the resource you are interested is online on the node, like

How to setup resources in a WS project to be loaded from classpath?

When I came in here to write this note, I saw the recent note titled "Placement of resources in WS project and runtime access", which is very similar to what I needed to know, but it isn't quite the same thing.
I'm trying to put together a WebLogic WS project where the operations call out to a bean in a Spring context. I think I would use something like "ContextSingletonBeanFactoryLocator.getInstance("classpath*:applicationContext.xml")" in the operation.
What I'm a little confused about is where I would put the Spring context file in my application. In a "plain" webapp, I would just put it into WEB-INF/classes, but that seems like a "protected" directory in Workshop.
What is the best way to set this up?

Ok, I guess I should have been clearer. When I said that "WEB-INF/classes" appears to be a "protected" directory in Workshop, I meant that I can't even see that directory when viewing the project in Workshop. The only way I know it's there (besides knowing it should be there) is when I tried to create that directory in the project, and seeing in the file browser that it's already there.

Our oas name is the same as the box name, and the report server naming convention is rep_(oas name) so that makes it easy to find out.

How do I send SQL statement to SQL Server and return data without using Database Connectivity Toolkit?

Hi, I've been trying to figure out how to pull data out of my SQL Server databases and from reading some posts and doing some tests with examples, I can kind of get data connecting into my SQL server, but so far nothing that helps. Is it possible to actually get data out of a SQL Server database without using the Database COnnectivity Toolkit? and if so, how? are there whitepapers and/or examples of this? So far, I cannot find anything that works. thanks.

I haven't ever done it before in LabVIEW and don't have the time to do much of the research right now.
That having been said, you will want to look for either a .NET library or an ActiveX control. Aside from the toolkit, you aren't going to find a native solution to LabVIEW - which means using other libraries. A quick google search returns this:

Anyone know how to determine Macbook Air screen tech? Causing migraines

Last year, I expereinced a lot of mild migraines which I've traced back to a new Macbook Air.
At first I had no idea of the cause (diet, stress etc) but have noticed that my eyes feel uncomfortable looking at the screen of my Macbook Air (I don't have this issue with my Dell monitor).
My eyes don't hurt per se, but I can detect a sublte jittering with the screen - which can turn into a migraine.
After doing a bit of research, it seems like most (but not all) LCD and LED LCD displays use something called pulse-width modulation to control brightness but after calling Apple support, they told me my MBA doesn't use this technology.
Does anyone know how to determine the underlaying technology in Apple displays so I can research the cauase of my headaches? I found a good Ukranian website (in english) that explained pulse-width modulation but it didn't really talk about other technologies.
Any pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Have you debug these two applications? Does it go into the catch exception block when you close the client or the server?
According to my test, it will throw an exception when the client or the server is closed, just log the exception message in the catch block and then you'll get it:

How to determine the ROWNUM in a Master Detail Form

I am working in a Master Detail Form with Orders and Order Items Information; and I created a process that allows the users to select a Product ID on a tabular form, and the next column is populated automatically with the Product Description.
To achieve that, I followed some instructions by Denes Kubicek (http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:241), but my case is slightly different:
<ul>I am using a wizard-created tabular form, instead of a manual tabular form; and </ul>
<ul>Instead of using another page as a Popup to pass the parameter of the ROWNUM, I am using a plug-in called “Tabular Form Super LOV” which is a modified version of the SkillBuilders’ Super LOV that works on Tabular Forms. </ul>
The Product ID is returned in the correct row by the plug-in; but in the case of the Product Description, it is always returned into the first row; and my problem is that I don't know how to determine the row where the user clicked to call the plug-in.
I set up an example in apex.oracle.com in case someone would like to look at it:

1. When the Popup LOV opens, the first row of the tabular form is 0, the second row is 1, and so on. How can I assign the values starting with 1 and in the format *0001* ? (I am still a novice on Apex and new to JavaScript :-), sorry about that).
--2. Also, when I close the Popup LOV, the value of P1_ROWNUM is ‘undefined’ again so I'm not sure if the Product Name column will be populated.--
3. And finally, you are using the jQuery Selector uPopupLOVIcon, which is an attribute of the Cloudy Theme. In my real application (Apex 4.1.1.00.26), my element looks like: *<img src="/i/lov_16x16.gif" width="16" height="16" alt="Popup Lov" alt="List" style="vertical-align:middle;" align="middle" />*. What do you recommend me to use as a jQuery Selector?

would you like to tell me. how i determine the most recently changed record by looking at date and time from internal table i am not supposed to sort the table by date and time... I must check date and time with other records date and time to determine which record is most recently changed...
here the scenario is.

in the above scenario i must keep in my mind that the most recently changed record is identical to its idnumber i can say that:

because here the id 3 is the most recently changed in the idnumber 123456
where id 5 is the most recently changed in the idnumber 123457
please help me to determin how i am supposed to carry out this task any suggestion, code will be great help of mine.

After testing my suggestion above, I realized that it doesn't work because the delete adjacent actually will keep the first one and delete the rest. I'm working with Srinivas's code a bit now, I think it is almost what you want. I am under the impression that you dont' want to HIGHest date/time, but just the last record of the sequence, if this is the case, then this code will help. Here we will assign an index to each record per the idnumber, that way we can sort it and get the lastest record.

How to determine cursorline in table control

Hi,
Every time an entry is inserted in the table control i need to put the cursorline in the next line.
It is ok while you are using the initial lines of the table control but when you use the scroll it is gone.
The complet scenario is:
- my table control is created with 5 lines.
- Every time the user inserts a line, a new line is created (so you will have always 5 lines behind to complete)
- when the 5th line is inserted, if you want to fill the 6tn you have to use the scroll
- In this moment is when i dont know how to determine the cursorline. It will be different depending how much de the scroll is moved. Maybe the correct cursorline is 5, or 3 or 2... Do you know how i can determine it? Is it possible?
Maybe the way would be to move the table control (scroll) one position and always cursorline would be 5, but i dont know if it possible neither.

You will have to use the variable topline from the tablecontrol.
