How to determine if my system Bios is 786G1?
I just received a HP dc7900 convertable minitower without an operating system and before I install the O/S I want to update to the latest BIOS and then install the latest Intel Management Software.
The latest Bios listed says to make sure that you have the 786G1 bios [HP Compaq Business Desktop System BIOS (786G1 BIOS)]
I currently have Bios version 1.16 installed and need to update it. How can I be sure that my system has the 786G1 bios?
Thank you for your help in advance...

You should be able to locate the BIOS information on one of the informational screens in the BIOS. However, if you download the BIOS update and go to flash the BIOS, the flash routine should tell you (before it flashes the BIOS) whether or not the update is correct for the BIOS installed on your computer.

How to determine the target system during runtime of a Generic DS?
Hi Experts, good afternoon.
I am coding a Generic Extractor using Function Module. I have to select the field TIMESTAMP on table ROOSPRMSC. To do so, I need the value of RLOGSYS that is the BW system that is calling the Extractor.
Do anybody knows how to determine via ABAP the RLOGSYS (Remote Logical System) during the runtime of the Generic DataSource Function Module?
The table ROOSPRMSC keep the TIMESTAMPs values of the last delta upload for each DataSource and for each BW target system. As I have 2 BW's loading data from the same SAP ECC system, I need to know, during runtime of my Generic DataSource, the actual system that is requesting the delta. That's the reason why I need to know the BW's logical system name that is "runnig" the delta InfoPackage.
Plese, help!!!
Thanks in advance!
Leandro VaniLeandro,
The calling program of your FM should have a local variable I_RLOGSYS which is populated with the BW server ID.
If you don't know how to access a variable in a program that is in call stack using field symbols, search SDN.
I haven't tested this, so you may have to explore a little.
Good luck. -
How to determine if my system was compromised by the shellshock bug?
Is there any way to determine if my system was compromised / hacked? Is it enough to upgrade with "pacman -Syu" or should I reinstall the whole system?
Last edited by Bailando (2014-09-29 15:24:02)The only way your system could have been compromised is if you or someone with access to your running system executed a Bash script that exploited the vulnerability. Which essentially means that in any instance in which a system was compromisd by this bug (and I'm not aware of any cases where that's actually happened) the bug itself isn't the primary security flaw.
Burning down your house because you suspect someone may have broken into it is ...well, I'm not sure there's a word to describe how extreme that response is relative to the threat. Especially if you're just going to rebuild the house and install the same locks you fear have failed you in the first place.

How determine the target system rfc in abap (ok in sm59)
Hello sap men and women,
I want to determine my logical system Crm in R/3 in abap. What is the function?
It is to use the FM RFC_READ_TABLE with the parameter RFC target sys. It is ok when I write in the FM RFC_READ_TABLE in the target syst : CR1CLNT120. But, CR1CLNT120 is my logical system in test systems. (TR : Sm59). My problem is how to determine generally CR1CLNT120 because in production system is PR1CLNT120.
There must be a function which with parameter "CRM" returns CR1CLNT120 if it is the machine of tests or PR1CLNT120 if it is the production machine.
Many Thanks,
ServaneNo here, it's not the same logical name between dev, tests and prod systems.
I have resolved this problem in CRM with the FM SMOF0_READ_SMOFPARSFA But I don't find it in r/3.
call function 'SMOF0_READ_SMOFPARSFA'
exporting
paraname = 'CRMCFSOLTP'
importing
e_parval1 = lv_destination
exceptions
error = 1
invalid_parameter = 2
others = 3.
lv_destination returns the logical name wich is in dev DR1CLNT120, in prod PR1CLNT120...
I search the same function in R/3. Do you have an idea?
Thanks -
How to determine logical system in a routine
Hello everybody,
I want to extract data from a ODS-Object (let's say A) to the other ODS-Object (B).
The A-ODS includes data from different R/3-source-system, where I want to select the data from one R/3-source system into B-ODS. Normally I can use the InfoObject 0LOGSYS (which exist as a key-field in A-ODS) with a constant string ofR/3-source system. But the Problem I we have when tranposting to different BW-System.
My question is: how can I determin the BW-System (logical system in a routine, where I can program the coding more flexible? Is there a field for source system similar to sy-datum or is there a function module ?
Thanks so much in advance!

Have situation on a unprotected wireless when accessing I cannot get a router address. I'm on system 10.6.8 on MacBook Pro summer 2009. Any thoughts on how to determine what's up?
You have basically verified that the issue is NOT with your MBP, but with this particular Wi-Fi network. Even though it may be unsecured, the provider may have elected to configure it for MAC filtering. In this case I am referring to the MAC (Media Access Control) address and not your Mac laptop itself. If this has been enabled, your Mac would only be able to connect if the Mac's MAC address was added to that filter.

Tablespace allocation type system how oracle determines the extent size
HI
It may be silly question but the I have to ask and get some knowdge
Suppose tablespace allocation_type is system then how oracle determins the inital extent and max extent size? Was this tablespace converted to locally managed from an existing tablespace? If so, the existing extents still exist after the conversion. Also depending on the Oracle version and maybe platform the pct_increase parameter is still honored after the conversion which can lead to odd sizes. The current value of this parameter may not be the value that was in effect when extents were allocated.
Also Oracle enhanced the logic to not leave odd sized extents unused so that if by rights the system should take a 64K extent but there is a 56K extent available (perhaps at the end of a file) it can be used to fill the extent request.

Call RFC for Lookup from BPM. how to determin the correct target system
Hi
I have a scenario where i am sending a sync call to SAP R/3 to fetch some sata using the BPM.
The issue is I can have multiple SAP systems so to determin the SAP system for the correct lookup is necessary.
in the rec determination step of Config I can configure multiple receivers but this isthrowing an error saying the multiple receivers cannot be determined for sync step.
Any idea why is such an error occuring
Regards
NikhilNikhil,
Multiple Receivers cannot be configured for a Synchronous Interfaces. reason is that when you are sending the request message to the target systems, XI will recieve multiple responses for one request and this is aginst the concept of Synch Message Processing.
You will have to have an option of determining the receivers inside your BPM and using separate Send Steps for each of these.

How to implement an audit system to track ADF applications DML activity?
We have implemented a complete audit system for one of our databases in order to keep history for every table and every value that has been modified.
The solution that we currently have can be split into two discrete parts:
1. Keeping a record of all connections to the db account
This is achieved via a table ‘user_sessions’ into which we record data for every session in the database with the help of on-logon and on-logoff triggers and some PL/SQL procedures:
Column name | Explanation
-------------------|-------------------------------------------
US_ID | PK, based on a sequence
SESSION_ID | sys_context('USERENV' ,'SESSIONID')
USER_NAME | sys_context('USERENV' ,'OS_USER')
LOGON_TIME | when the on-logon trigger fires
LOGOFF_TIME | when the on-logoff trigger fires
USER_SCHEMA | sys_context('USERENV' ,'SESSION_USER')
IP_ADDRESS | sys_context('USERENV' ,'IP_ADDRESS')
us_id |session_id |user_name|user_sschema|ip_address|logon_time |logoff_time
560066|8498062 |BOB |ABD |1.1.1.2 |14-SEP-06 03.51.52.000000|14-SEP-06 03.52.30.000000
560065|8498061 |ALICE |ABC |1.1.1.1 |14-SEP-06 02.45.31.000000|14-SEP-06 04.22.43.0000002. Keeping the history of every change of data made by a given user
For every table in the account there is a corresponding history table with all of the columns of the original table plus columns to denote the type of the operation (Insert, Delete, Update), start and end time of validity for this record (createtime, retiretime) and us_id (which points to the user_sessions table).
The original table has triggers, which fire if there is an insert, update or delete and they insert the data into the corresponding history table. For every record inserted into a history table the us_id taken from the user_sessions table is recorded as well, allowing us to determine who has modified what data via the combination of these two tables.
Below is an example of a table TASKS, the history related triggers and the history table TASKS_HIST.
At the moment we are developing new applications by using ADF. Since there is an Application Module Pool and Database Connection Pool implemented for the ADF, one connection to the database could be used by several users at different moments of time. In that case the history records will point to a database session logged into the user_sessions table, but we will not know who actually modified the data.
Could you, please, give us a suggestion, how we can know at any moment of time who (which of our users currently making use of an ADF application) is using a given database connection?
By way of an example of the problem we are facing, here is how we solved the same problem posed by the use of Oracle Forms applications.
When the user starts to work with a given Forms application, user_sessions table would attempt to record the relevant information about he user, but since the db session was created by the application server, would in actual fact record the username and ip address of the application server itself.
The problem was easy to solve due to the fact that there is no connection pooling and when a user opens their browser to work with Forms applications, a db connection is opened for the duration of their session (until they close their browser window).
In that case, the moment when the user is authenticated (they log in), there is a PL/SQL procedure called from the login Form, which updates the record in the user_sessions table with the real login name and ip address of the user.
Example of a table and its ‘shadow’ history table
CREATE TABLE TASKS (
TASKNAME VARCHAR2(40),

I try the sample “demo with bundle. The sample worked.
But it needed to start separately with the application.
I do not know how to build a help system with the existed web application developed with Jdeveloper (It has two projects: model and user-view-control. It is deployed on Oracle Application server).
Could you help me step by step to build the help system? -

where i can determin the accounts, which accounts will be effect.
Error in account determination: table T030K key ASHA VST V0
Message no. FF709
Diagnosis
In the chart of accounts to be posted to, no accounts are defined for the tax code you used.
Procedure
Contact your system administrator.
Define the accounts to which a tax posting is to be made with the tax code entered in Customizing for taxes on sales/purchases.
To do this, choose Maintain entries (F5).
How to determine VSTI have already replied to the same question in one of ur earlier posts.
If you want to knowthe GL accounts which are used presently for the transaction VST, you can go to table T030K give the field name KTOSL value as VST and execute. YOu will get the list of all GL accounts which use the transaction VST for all possible tax codes and Chart of Accounts. -
How do you get into the BIOS on a Satellite 320 CDS.
Hi my name is steve I was wondering how do you get into the BIOS on a satellite 320 CDS. As this is my first format on a lap top. Done plenty on desktop computers just never laptops. As some fool tried to do it before me and distroyed it. Now the only thing that happens is after the toshiba logo disappears this message comes up, INVALID SYSTEM DISK, REPLACE THE DISK AND THEN PRESS ANY KEY. It use to run Windows 98 and it worked great for how old it is. Was hoping to put XP on it but its only got a small hard drive (4099mb). So will have to put 98 back on it till I get a bigger hard drive.Only need it to teach my daughter how to respect a laptop. I mainly want to get into the BIOS for format. Any instruction on how to get into the BIOS would be great, as I'm good from there. Thank you in advance for your help.
Hi,
I don't know the exact method for the Satellite 320 CDS.
But most of the Toshiba notebooks use one of the following methods.
If you see a message while booting "Press F2 to enter setup", do it and you get into BIOS.
Or you have to press ESC while booting, then press F1 when prompted to and you are in the BIOS.

How to determine IE type(32 bit or 64 bit) in a task sequence while updating Java
How to determine IE type(32 bit or 64 bit) in a task sequence
Hi,
Currently i have to update new version of Java after removing all the previous existing version of Java by using TS in SCCM 2007.
we have both 32 bit and 64 bit browser in the environment. I am stucked in determining whether the browser is of 32 bit or 64 bit.
How to determine IE type(32 bit or 64 bit) in a task sequence so that respective java can be installed for that IE browser.
will highly appreciate quick response.
Thanks in advance.
DayaBut you also need to install JRE x86 on x64 systems, since most people actually use the 32bit browsers on x64 systems.
The detection logic is actually pretty simple -- just check the right registry hive to find the installation location of the BIN\JAVA.DLL. Both pathnames are stored in HKLM\Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\1.7 in the registry value "JavaHome",
but the x86 path is stored in the 32-bit hive and the x64 path is stored in the 64-bit hive.

How to determine the mount point for directory /tmp ?
Folks,
Hello. I am installing Oracle 11gR2 RAC using 2 Virtual Machines (rac1 and rac2 whose OS are Oracle Linux 5.6) in VMPlayer and according to the tutorial
http://appsdbaworkshop.blogspot.com/2011/10/11gr2-rac-on-linux-56-using-vmware.html
I am installing Grid infrastructure. I am on step 7 of 10 (verify Grid installation enviroment) and get this error:
"Free Space: Rac2: /tmp"
Cause: Could not determine mount point for location specified.
Action: Ensure location specified is available.
Expected value: n/a
Actual value: n/a
I have checked the free space using the command:
[root@Rac2 /]# df -k /tmp
Output:
Filesystem 1k-blocks used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1 30470144 7826952 21070432 28% /
As you see above, the free space is enough, but could not determine mount point for /tmp.
Do any folk understand how to determine the mount point for directory /tmp ?
Thanks.I have just checked "/home/oracle/.bash_profile". But in my computer, there is no "oracle" under /home directory. Is this your first time Linux and Oracle installation? I had a brief look at your referenced link. The reason why you do not find a "oracle" user is because the instructions use "ora11g" instead, which, btw, is not standard. The directories of your installation and your installation source can be somewhat different from known standards and you will have to adjust it to your system.
My best guess is that you have either missed something in the instructions or you need to ask the author of the blog what is wrong. The chance to find someone here who has experience with these custom instructions is probably unlikely.
I suggest you try to locate the cluster verification tool, which should be in the bin directory of your grid installation. Alternatively you might want to check the RAC, ASM & Clusterware Installation forum: RAC, ASM & Clusterware Installation
