How to Diagnose Microsoft Office Automation for conflicts with Xcelsius

When designing a Dashboard, there may be times when Excel errors will prevent you from using the Dashboards (Xcelsius) client tool. These issues typically include errors such as "Excel is Busy" or problems accessing Microsoft Excel while attempting to run Dashboards (Xcelsius).
Cause
Dashboards (Xcelsius) uses the Microsoft Office Automation libraries to interact with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Likewise, third-party Office Add-ins also use these same libraries to function, which can possibly cause conflicts when using Dashboards.
Solution
Any conflicting Office Add-ins will need to be disabled while Xcelsius is in use. In some occasions, these Add-ins must be un-installed to be fully disabled. The OACheck.exe is a Microsoft diagnostic tool that will help test the health of the Automation Libraries and will also detect all Add-ins that might not be visible inside the Excel Options>Add-ins Menu.
Attached is a copy of Microsoft's OACheck.exe diagnostic tool along with step-by-step instructions. Rename the extension from .txt to .zip.

I have suffered this issue many times and lost some of the valuable works. Unfortunately the link you have provided is not working.
This issue happens mostly when we use Bex analyzer and xcelsius side by side, bex usage is also unavoidable.

How to reinstall Microsoft Office 2010 for T430?

I currently am doing IT work for a remote co-worker and he said that his T430 only came with Lenovo Recovery discs and that he doesn't have any standalone Microsoft Office discs. Is there a download for the Microsoft Office Home and Business 2010 version that he's using that I can download to his machine, so I don't have to use the recovery discs for a factory reset?
I tried going to Microsoft's site to get the 2010 version, but when I entered his key, it said that there's no download available for the OEM version of Office 2010.

Hi dikt, welcome to the forums,
which MS site are you trying to download from and did your co-worker create an MS account at some point?
I am able to download Office 2010 from the following site and on logging into my account I can also see my different oem license numbers. If I remember correctly after entering the license key, if you don't have an account, you need to create an account.

When I installed the recent updates for Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac, my iCal calendar was wiped out, as was the calendar on my iPhone. I'd rather use iCal than Office and was attempting to phase Office out altogether. Now, all of my information is on the Office calendar but not iCal. The iCloud version of my iCal calendar is not up to date. In any event, I couldn't figure out how to send that info to the iCal on my mac or my phone. How can I sync my Office calendar info to iCal? If that's not possible, how can I get my Office calendar to sync with my iPhone? All of my sync services are set up in iTunes and on my phone. This happened to me once before and I spent hours on the phone with Apple and on the web trying to work it out. I NEED MY CALENDAR!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!

The other concern I have is that Office 2011 requires an Intel-based Mac and you posted in the older iMac (pre-Intel or "PPC") forums. Recently I had a problem with my Macbook Pro, and unfortunately had to purchase a new hard drive and have it installed. This also led to the loss of data and other things, such as Microsoft Office for Mac. I know this is an Apple community, but I get better answers here than at the Microsoft communities so I'm hoping someone can help find out how to reinstall Microsoft Office 2013. I logged onto my Microsft account and it says that there is no record of me purchasing Microsoft Office on that account but I know thats the account that it was purchased on, so i cannot get my product key to reinstall it as directed. Someone please help!!!!

Try calling MS support and explaining the situation, maybe they will issue a new key.

You can't. Excel is a commercial product sold by Microsoft in an Office "package" and not as a stand-alone product.
If you need to be able to open and save Excel documents on your Mac, however, you could try the free LibreOffice.

Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac - missing options

Hello!
I've got some trouble with Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac:
I realized that there are some options missing in the menu bars, such as "Insert > Cross-reference", etc.
Today I reinstalled the whole thing including all updates (11.3.7). No success.
However I noticed that on my admin account the options are existent but still not on my "everyday account".
Therefore my question:
How can I remove user specific preferences for Office? I guess this might solve my problem.

If you need to write or modify documents made with Word, Excel, or Powerpoint, then you need Office. Otherwise, you don't. If you already have it then installation just involves double-clicking on the Office Installer's icon.

Version 4.0 or newer of Libre Office can open and edit Publisher files, this is fairly new, you may not have noticed it yet,
I tested it last week for another OP, it works very well, so finally there is a Mac application that can replace Publisher.

Can I use user names and password of Microsoft Office Outlook for hyperion

I'm new to Hyperion. Can anyone tell that can I use "user names" and "passwords" of Microsoft Office Outlook for login into hyperion applications.
I'm not talking about single sign on, but want to use same user names and passwords as that in Outlook.

That depends on how your Outlook authentication is configured.
Hyperion is generally configured to authenticate against a network directory (NTLM, MSAD or LDAP). I'm not an Outlook expert, but my Outlook user ID and password is almost always my MSAD id and password (I change clients regularly, and it's almost always the same situation). So it's also usually the same as my Hyperion ID and password.
Ask your Outlook administrator whether it uses (or syncs with) MSAD, NTLM or LDAP. If the answer is yes, then you're in good shape because Hyperion can use these as well.

Easiest way with Acrobat pro, is save the Word document, then convert the document to PDF with Acrobat, rather than doing a "save as" in Word itself to PDF.

If you have not already done so, repair permissions and restart your computer. Or boot up from your install DVD and run "Repair Disk" from the Utility menu. When done, restart back to your desktop, repair permissions and restart your computer. Suggest that you post in the Microsoft Office for Mac Forums if the above does not work.
