How to dictate on Mac like an iPhone?

I have an iPhone 4S, and use the dictation feature for 'Notes', Youtube, Web searches, etc.
So, when I got a Mac a month ago, I expected dication to be integrated in, like the iPhone.
How can I get free/cheap dictation capability?

Looking at the OS X version you have, Dictation comes with that version. Open System Preferences > Dictation & Speech to enable it.

This is a free service. Then you have paid applications like Dragon Dictate for Mac, but for most users, Dictation is enough

I have an iPhone 6 running iOS 8.0.2 and a PowerBook Pro running Mavericks. I have my music Library (files) stored on my MacBook. I would like to copy my music files from my MacBook to my iPhone. I've tried iTunes 11 sync and that does not move the files to my iPhone. I've tried going into the Settings on my iPhone and turning auto download of iTunes music purchases and that does nothing. I'm sure there is an easy way to copy my Music files from my Mac to my iPhone but I can't figure it out. Can someone tell me how ?

I have no problem moving photos from the iPhone to my Mac using 'Image Capture.'
Now, I would like to know how to move pictures from my Mac to the iPhone. I can pretty well imagine that I first need to set the pixel dimensions of whatever I'm going to transfer to the iPhone to the iPhone standard. To do that, I will take an unaltered iPhone pic on my Mac and read the dimensions to get the standard. Past that point I'm not sure what is the best way to move the picture onto the iPhone.
Any recommendations on how to do this?

Here is what I found doing a search of similar topics:
To sync photos from a folder on your hard disk to your device
Drag the images you want into a folder on your computer. If you want images to appear in separate photo albums on your device, create folders inside the main folder and drag images into the new folders.
In iTunes, select the device icon in the Devices list on the left.
Choose "Sync photos from."

Try these steps:
- open iTunes
- top left of your mac select "view"
- select "show sidebar"
- connect your iPhone to your Mac
- select your iPhone underneath devices on the sidebar
From here you will need to choose what you would like synced to the iPhone and then from there anytime you connect the iPhone to your Mac it will sync the content you have selected.
Note: The iPhone will not automatically sync if you have prevented this in iTunes<Preferences>Devices

One new thing I learned from it is that Evernote which I use for keeping some text notes in sync among various devices has a voice memo capability. Those would be automatically transferred. You should be able to sync your 3GS to your computer and make a backup. Then connect your iPhone 4S and restore from a backup. This should effectively move all your data to your new device. Report back if you have any problems.

I am trying to sync my calendar between the mac and my iphone now that I have upgraded to Mavericks. I understand that I have to use iCloud (which I am not at all excited about) but I'll be damned if I can find out how to do it. I've read several postings in the community but they point me to broad troubleshooting pages and I can't find anything that simply tells me how to get my calendar into icloud to begin with and then how to sync. i was pretty happy syncing dircetly through itunes. I am feeling very sour about Apple right now.

Actually it is pretty easy to do through iCloud,
On your Mac(s)
System Preferences > iCloud
Be sure the services you want to sync through iCloud are checked
click on Account Details and be sure your Apple ID is correct
On your iPhone
Settings > iCloud
Account -- Verify the Apple ID is the same one you set in System Preferences on your Mac(s)
turn the services you want to sync throug iClound or ON. These should match the ones you set in System Preferences on your Mac
On your iPad
Settings > iCloud
Account -- Verify the Apple ID is the same one you set in System Preferences on your Mac(s)

That is literally all there is to it. The first sync will occur when your iPhone or iPad is plugged into power and on WiFi. After that any change made on one of the synched devices will appear on all of the other synched devices the first time they have an internet connection.

Hi Randers4 thank you for trying to help. I finally gave up and just called apple. Apparantly my renewel went under my icloud ID while my previous accout was my itunes ID. Never had to match them before but I guess we do now. Once I switched my iphone ID to the ID I used to renew the icloud it backed up. Live and learn.
