How to differentaite between material created on & material changed ??

Hi all,
How to differentiate between material created and material changed???
is there any flag or indicator present to differetiate between two....please guide me.
Thanks,
Ashu

Hi Ashu,
I just want to clarify one point from you.
i always prefer to hit MARA with below feilds, if you want track singe change of the material
ERSDA - Creation date
ERNAM - Name of Person who Created the Object
LAEDA - Date of Last Change
AENAM - Name of person who changed object.
some times material may change multiple times, in these cases we need to hit CDPOS and CDHDR
to track the material changes....
or you can create a custom table with the feild  time & date of change...and when ever material getting changed
in the ME21n exit update one entry in custom table.
Many Thanks

How to see, under which all views the material has been created?

    Hi
The no of views to be opened when you create a material in MM01 depends on the Material type
BY changing the material types the views can be changed
    IMG->logistics general>Material Master>Basic settings>Material types-->Define attributes of material types
Here only the settings is done

  • Difference between Item created under Material Master and Equipment

    Hello Expert,
I am bit confused in Item created in Master and Equipmet:
as per my understanding : Item created in Item master belong to some BOM in BOM defines the structure for the Item.
Then what is exactly served b equipments?
The equpments are serialied Items with some different structure or they are derived from BOM?
Please guide me to understand this concept.
    br,
    Pushkar

    Dear,
Check what I found:  material master is used to describe an item, usually stockable,  that is purchased, manufactured, sold, inspected, serviced, etc.  A material master is usually created when there are multiple quantities of an item, say a product that is being manufactured.
A material master may have a serial number profile entered in order to allow distinguishing between the different copies of the same item.   For stocking,  inspecting, sales, manufacturing, etc;  the exact serial number(s) being transacted will need to be specified.
Depending  on the serial number profile specifics, each SN may get a unique equipment master, which records information specific to the material-SN combination (not just about the material in general).  For instance, if a product sold to a customer is returned for service, that material-SN (=equipment master) will have a record of the service order used.
For items which are never inventoried but for which information particularly PM transactions are recorded, an equipment master without a material master may be created, for instance a piece of processing equipment.
So an equipment master may link to a material-SN combination, or may be a stand-alone.
    Please check : http://www.sap-img.com/pm003.htm

    Syed Hussain.

  • How do I find who created a particular material master record?

How can I find who created a material master record when it was created?  I've looked in the item changes log and all it shows is changes, not when the material was created.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
You can use SE16 + MARA. Field ERSDA will show you the desired date.
In MM03 there's an icon: white 'i', background blue. Please click on it.

  • How to create material group in material master.

    hi guru's
can anybody explain me how to create a new material group in material master.
i wantto add a material group while creating material master MM01..
    thanks
    sap-mm

    Hi,
In this step you create material groups.
You also have the option of using the same transaction to carry out the following activities:
    Creating superior hierarchy levels
Assigning the superior hierarchy levels to a material group hierarchy
Assigning the base material group to the material group hierarchy
Assigning characteristics profiles below material group level
    Requirements
Your R/3 System is configured as an SAP Retail System.
    Activities
    1. Create superior hierarchy levels
You create hierarchy levels using transaction WG01 (creating
material groups) via menu options MG environment --> Hierarchy
       level --> Create
    2. Assign the superior hierarchy levels to a material group hierarchy
You assign hierarchy levels to a hierarchy using transaction WG01
(creating material groups) via menu options MG environment -->
Hierarchy level --> Maint. MG hierarchy
    3. Create material groups (base material groups) and then maintain the
pre-defined materials (reference material/material group material)
    4. Assign the base material group to the material group hierarchy
You assign the material group to the hierarchy using transaction
       WG01 (creating material groups)
    5. Assign characteristics profiles below material group level
You assign characteristics profiles using transaction WG01
       (creating material groups)
    Further notes
When creating material groups and then maintaining the pre-defined materials (reference material/material group material) you should be aware of the following.
As these materials can be created automatically using a minimum of data, you should follow this procedure with a check and possibly further maintenance, especially of plant-specific data. The material group reference material should be defined in as much detail as possible so as to keep the workload to a minimum when you have to create more materials for this material group.
All hierarchy allocations involving a material group (base material group) and a higher or lower hierarchy level can be carried out on the initial screen (there is no need to switch to the detail screen). All further hierarchy allocations can be defined top-down when you maintain material group hierarchies.
Only the material groups are transported automatically!
    Reward if useful.

    Hello Experts,
How can I create a material which can be used to create a sales order and can be used to create inventory using VAO1 and MB1C T-Codes respectively.
What are the configurations that I need to take care of, while creating it?
I need to create a material which can be used in the whole sales cycle(sales order, goods issue, billing and etc).
    Please Help,
    Thanks in Advance,
    Suma

    Hi
Thanks for your fast replies.. I have created a new material and was able to create inventory thru MB1C. But I was not able to generate a goods delivery(VL01N) and billing document(VF01)  for the sales order.
Error: No schedule lines due for delivery up to the selected date
    Message no. VL248
    Diagnosis
There are no schedule lines due for the given order item up to the date chosen.
    System Response
The system does not create a delivery item for this order item.
    Procedure
Check whether the order item to be delivered contains confirmed schedule lines.
If this is the case, set the selection date further into the future if you still want to create a delivery for this item.
    Please suggest,
    Tanks,

  • How to understand Note1305698 creating new material batch masters data

    Hi, Expert:
In note 1305698 have below description:
When creating new material masters for materials subject to batch management and using
classified batches, it is not possible to create the first batch record in the EWM system. This
means that, for a material, the first batch is always created in the EWM system and must be
transferred to the EWM system because this creates the connection between material and class.
    I confused by this statement.
The first batch record should be created in which system, ERP or EWM?
The first batch is always created in which system, ERP or EWM?
    BR.

    Hi,
sorry, that is a typo in the english translation of the note. The original german says: "Dies bedeutet, dass zu einem Material die erste Charge jeweils immer auf ERP-Seite angelegt und an das EWM-System übertragen werden muss, da hierdurch die Verbindung zwischen Material und Klasse angelegt wird."
(now translated from me): This means that, for a material, the first batch is always created in the ERP system and must be transferred to the EWM system because this creates the connection between material and class.
I will ask for a correction.
    Best regards
    Juergen

  • How to create customer material information(vd51) and what is it's use

how to create customer material information(vd51) and what is it's use.
does it will work even in mm module also??
      my requirement is such that...
    my sap code is 235
where as customer will give purchaase order on code 536.when i am entering this 536 code  in my system, automatically sytem should propse my sap code of 235.subsequently my inventory should reduce.

    Hi,
the transaction for maintaining the customer material inforecord is VD51.Data on a material defined for one specific customer is stored in the customer material information records.
    Features:
During order entry, items can be entered by specifying the material number used by the customer. You also enter a customer material number in the order view of the sales order. You can then use both material numbers during the order entry, the material number your company uses or the one defined by the customer, because the system can carry out allocation automatically.
If you maintain the plant in the customer material info record, the system will give priority for the plant maintained in the CMIR in the order.

  • How to get the Newly Created Material

    Hi all,
Iam creating Materials using BDC sessions method,My Problem is to update the Newly Created Material in a Ztable.
so iam getting the Newly created Matnr by the following peice of code
SELECT  matnr FROM mara INTO  TABLE v_matnr
                               WHERE ersda = sy-datum
                               ORDER BY matnr DESCENDING.
But the thing is,we are getting Previously created material.i.e the new material will be  created only after the sessions are processed, but when i write the above code in the program we are getting previous material.
so how to update the newly created material.
I think we can't do  that through program because we can get new material only after processing the session..so what is the solution for this.should we use userexits for getting the newly created material.
    thanks in advance
    balaji

    Hello,
Use the <b>BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA</b> to create the materials.
The BAPI will return the Material number which is created at that instance by which u can update the ZTABLE.

  • How can we change the valuation type for a material created.

How can we change the valuation type for a material created.
Note : All open orders are closed for this material.3
    Please guide

    Hi,
You can change valuation class, or you can set valuation category for your material master. If valuation category is set you can extend your material master and in this way creating records for different valuation types.
Please try to set the desired changes in your mmr (MM02) > save > SAP will give you error message > push 'Display error' button and you will see what conditions must be eliminated to carry out the change.
    - you are not allowed to have open transactional data
    - no stock in the current and previous period (using proper posting date in MB1A + 201 you can reduce your stock level to 0, and after that you can set it back by MB1A + 202)
    - in case of valuation category setting batch archiving may be necessary

  • Storage Condition - how to make a default value in creating a material for

When creating a material, where can I make shure that a default storage condition (MARA-RAUBE) is filled in for a specific material type?

Solution: When creating a material, you have to input a material group. I have noticed that a material group has a link with a reference material. (tx: WG22) And in the reference material the storage condition is filled. When changing the reference article this will now also be taken by the material group. So if you fill in a specific material group for your to be created material, the wanted field is filled in.
