How to directly open my bookmarks without first opening Safari?

I know that one can keep a bookmark on the Dock so that one can easily open that webpage without first opening Safari.
My question: Is it possible to open the whole bookmarks list or folder without opening Safari first? I am thinking of something similar to the Favorites menu in Windows which one can reach from the Start menu.

I use Quicksilver by blacktree.com . It takes a bit of effort to get started using it, but once it is set up, it's great. I hit a key combo to bring up a box, start typing "Bookmarks" and after a couple of letters I see my Bookmarks folder. I can scroll down to see what's in it, and when I find what I want I can tell it to "Open".
Even better, if you know what bookmark you're looking for, you can type some of the letters and, like Spotlight, Quicksilver will find it.
Also, you can set up "Triggers" for often-used bookmarks (or anything else) and launch them with a key combo you define.

You are in the iPad forum.
Open your Applications folder - find Safari in the applications, and double click on the icon in there. You may have a corrupt alias in the dock at the bottom.

• How do I clear the bookmarks and history on safari with ios 7 system?

I'm using safari on my ipad with ios 7.02 operating system. I've searched for answers in several places but no one seems to know how to clear the bookmarks and history on safari which show up below the address bar when you type in a new website address. Does anyone know how to clear this out? I've searched several places and others seem to have the same problem.

Click on the bookmark icon > Edit > Create a New Folder and call it whatever you want then
Settings > Safari > Favorites > select the new empty folder you just created.
To clear the history:
Settings > Safari > Clear History
or
In Safari click the bookmark icon > History > Clear

• How can I start using IPad without first syncing with my computer?

I'm out of town and just bought a new IPad2. I don't have my computer with me and won't be able to use it for another 2 weeks. How can I start using my IPad before syncing with my computer?

You must activate it by syncing it to iTunes on a computer. An Apple Store can do it for you - or anybody with a computer that meets the minimum requirements and has iTunes 10.2 on it can activate it for you.
If you have someone else activate it, bear in mind that when you do finally sync to your computer, iTunes is going to tell you that all content will be erased because you already set it up on another computer with another iTunes library. Your iPad will sync to one iTunes library only. That is way they are designed to perform.
You CAN transfer any purchases that you make on the iPad to your iTunes library when you perform your first sync with your own computer, however, and I would strongly suggest that you do that when you get the chance.
If you do set it up with another computer, I would keep the purchases and downloads to a minimum so that keeping all of your data is not a big problem when you finally sync to your own PC.

• How can I open safari with multiple home pages

Hi All
On my iPhone 4 I always follow the same four websites (2x e-mail, 1x news and 1x sport page). Is there a way that I can set Safari on the iPhone to open these four pages on startup. i.e. open up with 4 home pages.
Thanks in advance
Sathers

It strikes me that it should be possible to do that (or something similar) by building a safari extension, TC. Both Sessions and SafariRestore are able to launch multiple tabs from a previous session, so it seems like you should be able to create an extension that launches multiple tabs open to specific sites when Safari is launched.

• How do you turn off bookmark search results in Safari on iOS 7?

My children use my ipad to surf the web I have some rather mature medical centric bookmarks that they should not have access to. I am a bookmark junkie as well so no matter what they search for the field populates with these :( I have to use a different browser for the time being because of this.
Smart Search Field is off, no cookies allowed, spotlight search is inactive, & history cleared. Even switched the search providers within safari to no avail. It seems baked into Safari utilizing Smart Search in iOS 7. Unfortunately Safari would be unusable to my whole family if this is the case, but Safari is by far the best browser...right?
Turning search suggestions off altogether would be ideal
Please help.

Check Settings > Safari > Smart Search Field and Settings >Safari > Do Not Track.

• Can't open safari after removing genieo

How do I open safari after removing genieo

You installed the "Genieo" scam product. There is an uninstaller, but as the developer is a scam artist, you shouldn't rely on it. I suggest the tedious procedure below to disable Genieo.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Applications/Genieo.app
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
Repeat with each of these lines:
/Applications/Uninstall Genieo.app
/Library/Frameworks/GenieoExtra.framework
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.engine.plist
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.plist
/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.client.plist
/Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.client
/usr/lib/libgenkit.dylib
/usr/lib/libimckit.dylib
/usr/lib/libimckitsa.dylib
Note: Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file doesn't exist.
The following configuration file may be either created or modified by the Genieo installer:
/etc/launchd.conf
The file is unlikely to be used by anything but Genieo or something equally undesirable. Unless you know you need it, delete it in the same way as above, if it exists. Otherwise, edit it to remove the line that begins as follows:
setenv DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES
The above is not a file, but a line inside a file.
Reboot. Safari should now function normally, and you should be able to reset the home page. If not, stop here and post your results.
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extension you don't recognize. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
The Genieo installer may also install the "Silverlight" web plugin from Microsoft. If you have no use for that plugin, you should remove it according to Microsoft's instructions. Don't remove it if you subscribe to "Netflix."
This procedure may leave a few files behind, but it should render Genieo permanently non-functional, as long as you never reinstall it.

• Cant open safari on imac..

how do i open safari browser on imac..frozen

The version of Safari you downloaded is not compatible with 10.3.x; it clearly states that on the Apple web site where you got it. That's why it doesn't work.
You need to trash that version and reinstall your original version from your Mac OS X install disc. Navigate to the Optional Installs folder and open the Optional Installs.mpkg file; this will let you install the original version that came with your Mac. Then you would have to use Software Update to get back to the most current version for 10.3.x. A reboot after that and a Repair Permissions wouldn't hurt, either.
