How to disable airplane power mode completely on T440p Windows 7 64?

Hi!
I have updated Windows 7 64 and latest Lenovo Power Manager 6.66.3
My computer continuously switches to airplane power mode while being conneted to AC power source.
*Despite* being disabled in the power manager ir still does it and being connected to AC power discharges the battery (also when the lid is closed it goes standby etc.).
I don't need it! I need my notebook run at full performance while it is connected to the AC power, no matter if I type keys/move mouse or not, is battery fully charged or not.
Please help me achieving this.
Thank you in advance/

Hi!
Yes, I would happily do that, but without Lenovo power manager my screen goes dim frequently. So even when I have power management in Windows set to not save power on anything, it still flickers and i think it is something wrong with Lenovo BIOS or similar. Lenovo power manager took those screen flickers away, but brought that airplane mode that simply cannot be disabled.

  • Disabling Airplane Power Mode?

I have an L440 laptop with Windows 7 installed. I keep the wifi turned off at all times unless I need it for battery life purposes. Sometime in the few months or so, something autoupdated and now the laptop goes to airplane mode in power manager every time I turn off the wifi using F8. This dims my screen and slows the charging rate and is generally annoying. I tolerated it for a while thinking Lenovo would fix it with another update, but power manager has updated twice since then without fixing the problem.
I did a search in these forums, and none of the solutions I found worked for me. I found one link telling another user with the same issue to set the wireless power setting to moderate while on battery. I do not have this setting in power manager. I found others describing a registry hack, or installing some dependency package. These only work in Windows 8. Another solution is to uninstall Power Manager completely, which I would do except that I use it to force the battery to only start charging when below 40% to minimize charge cycles. Since I often have power available when I'm out on the job I can go for literally weeks between charges with the battery charge very slowly dropping as I occasionally run without AC and I do not want to give this up. Even at 40% I still have plenty of run time if I find myself without a mains connection.
This does bring up another issue though, which is that when I started having the airplane mode issue, my battery began to trickle discharge when powered off. Before this I could put it away for days and it would boot up with the exact same battery % it shut down with. Now I lose about 10% per day which is obviously causing the battery to hit 40% faster and recharge more often. I wouldn't be too upset by this except that I know it doesn't have to happen and Lenovo "broke" it with their software.
Basically, now when I finish a job, I turn off the wifi, Lenovo forces my laptop into airplane mode, and depending on how much of a hurry I'm in I either remember or forget to go back and turn airplane mode off before shutting down and moving to the next job. If I remember, my battery remains level while off. If I forget, my battery discharges while turned off.
I did find the powermanager setting for turning off airplane auto detect, but that made no difference at all.
Is there a way to fix this by  "breaking" what Lenovo broke to get my laptop functioning properly again? If I can somehow force airplane mode to not be an option, I'm hoping it will fix this.
    Thanks,

When you say you turn off WiFi, what exactly are you doing?
Are you really turning on Airplane Mode (using the menu that appears when you press F8 button)?  Or are you just toggling the WiFi radio on and off?
You are correct that Airplane WIRELESS mode also turns on Airplane POWER mode.  If you don't want that, then you can avoid using Airplane WIRELESS mode and just toggle the individual radios on and off.
There may also be a way to avoid this by registry entry but I want to make sure I understand exactly what you are doing, first.

  • Airplane power mode

I have a T420s that will not accept power from any of the aircraft in seat power outlets. The outlets are getting power (light is on), but as soon as I plug in, the light goes out and the computer shows the battery icon....no power coming to the computer. I finally decided to see if anyone else was experiencing this problem. One thread suggested that an update of the power management software would fix the problem, in particular I would be able to select airplane power mode under the Global Power Settings. However, after the update, there is no box to check for airplane power mode.  Any recommendations?  Does the BIOS also need to be updated? Any ideas for how to get around this problem of no power on the plane?  The charger only delivers 65w.

    afternoon...
along with Power Manager, do you have the latest Power Management driver installed?

can any body tell us How to disable the archive logs in SAP IDES(Windows 2003) using SQL Server 2000.SP4.?

    Hi,
Unfortunately, SQL Server does not have the option to turn off transaction logging. You can set the recovery mode to SIMPLE, instead of FULL. This will result in the transaction log being truncated on checkpoint.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/873235 - check this microsoft article
This will help in reduction of the size of the transcation log.

  • How to change the power mode in Win 7

    Hello,
I'm not really good in english (I'm dutch) only when i talking about games or something not at technical stuff but i'll try to explain
Since a couple weeks i have windows 7 running on this laptop.
First i had vista but that was bad. Windows 7 is working much better.
Anyway i did update my laptop with the drivers from this site.
When i was running it i was missing something.
On the right hand side where you can chance your "energy schedule" you can choose between low performence and balanced.
Well on vista i had also high performence but not now.
Is there an update for where i can chance that?
If so please can someone tell me where to find that update.
    greetings,
    me
took me 10 minuts to post this because of Your message contains profanity or inappropriate language.
In the interests of your fellow forum users, we would ask you to amend your message.

    Hi
Windows 7 is a little bit different as Vista OS.
But you can change the settings in Power Options which can be found in Control Panel.
Go to Control Panel -> Power Options
There you can find these both options; Low performance and balanced performance.
The high performance is hidden you will need to click on the arrow which would open the option where the high performance mode is placed.
    But you can also create an own power mode;
On the left you can find the option: Create power mode (or something like that.. sorry its just translated)
There you could find a option which allows you to choose the high performance.

  • How can I use Safe Mode to troubleshoot in Windows 8 or Windows 7?

QuestionHow can I use Safe Mode to troubleshoot in Windows 8 or Windows 7?
AnswerWindows has a special mode known as Safe Mode. It is not fully functional, but it allows you to make changes to the laptop to hopefully fix normal mode. We're going to attempt to boot into Safe Mode to use it fix the laptop.
For more information on how to boot into Safe Mode please see the following articles:
How To: Safe Mode and other Advanced Startup Options in Windows 8
Creating a System Repair Disc for Windows 8 (useful for entering Safe Mode)
How To: Start your Windows 7 computer in Safe Mode
Use Safe Mode to undo recent changes
When a computer won't start Windows, it's usually due to a recent change. If you installed a new piece of software before your laptop began to have trouble booting, you may want to uninstall it. Similarly, if you recently made a change to any system settings, you may want to change it back. If you have antivirus software, you may want to perform a scan. If you're not sure what to do here, feel free to skip to the next step!
Use Safe Mode to perform a system restore
Windows includes a utility called System Restore that can help with many problems. While this won't alter or remove any of your personal files, it will roll back your system settings and files to an earlier date. We'll use this to attempt to fix Windows.
To learn how to use System Restore, please check the following articles:
How To: Understanding System Restore, Refresh, Reset, and, Recovery options in Windows 8 + Video
How To: Perform a system restore in Windows 7
Use Safe Mode to initiate a clean boot
As Windows loads, it loads many additional components such as services and startup items. Some of these are not vital. For example, some tools start immediately with Windows, such as antivirus software. From Safe Mode, we can instruct Windows not to load many of these. This will help you determine if one is causing Windows not to load properly. Note that this step is more advanced than the previous steps. If it seems difficult for you, you may consider asking for help from someone who is more comfortable with computers.
Please view the following article for more information:
How can I perform a clean startup without my startup items to troubleshoot a problem?
If Windows loads normally, you'll know one of those startup items or services was causing the problem. If this is the case, you may want to return to the System Configuration Utility and re-enable some items and services to determine which specific one caused the problem.
    Backing up your data
If you're able to enter Safe Mode, backing up your data should be easy. Connect a USB flash drive or external drive to your computer while in Safe Mode and then copy your important  files to the flash drive or external drive.
You may also want to consider taking your computer to a professional.

Would love to know if this is possible. Found forums dating back years asking exactly the same thing, no solutions. And I do not want to change my headset (Sennheiser MM-50), or use the onboard mic (which sounds like you are using your Mac in a wind tunnel once the fans kick in).

  • How to disable screen power save mode

    Hello, everybody!
I have an issue with screen power save mode in Solaris 6 and I would be very grateful if someone could help me. Here's the problem description: (as root user) by using the GUI "Style Manager" I go to "Screen" and configure both "Screen Saver" and "Screen Lock" to "off" (I also set the "startup" to "resume current session" and clicked "Set Home Session"), however the screen power save mode is still on and after 30 minutes it is activated. How can I disable it? Is there any other command or configuration specifically to control the screen?
    Thanks in advance!

It may be that the power management software is turning off the monitor. Run the command dtpower to view/configure the power management settings.

  • How to disable the Calculation mode in oracle form

    hi All,
    i have 2 text items in one block.say TEXT_A, TEXT_B
TEXT_B is showing the SUM of TEXT_A where TEX_A is poulated by DB query and showing UOM(unit of measure for an item).
    But
on some condition, i dont want to do SUM (like if the UOM are differents).
how can we disable or off the calculation mode for TEXT_B.
    Nitn

    hi Craig
thanks for your reply but its not working-
please agn read the scenario , i have added more details -
suppose in a single block we have 3 TEXT_ITEM
I have one text item TEXT_A which is populated by EXECUTE_QUERY .TEXT_A having 3 lines and values may be-
    first case
    KG
    KG
    KG
    Second case
    KG
    KG
    METER
TEXT_B also having 3 lines and USer can enter values in this field.
TEXT_C is the sum of text_B and TEX_C is having one line as to show sum of B .
i have set the TEXT_C property palette properties to show sum of TEXT_B and it is working fine.
now if the values are same in TEXT_A, TEXT_C should show SUM of text_b.
but if it is second case if the values are different then TEXT_C should not poulate .
    do we have any SET_ITEM_PROPERTY(':blk_name',???????????,prperty_false)
?????????= so it can disable the Summary function whihc i set from property pallettle

  • How to disable GP retroactive process completely?

We use PeopleSoft Global Payroll for our payroll processing. We eabled the retroactive processing before, now we found the payroll processing performance down outstandingly, we want to disable the GP retroactive processing option.
We have disable the retro option on the run type, calendar group, but we found the payroll processing still process retroactive.
Does anyone know the options to control GP retroactive processing I have missed?
    Mnay thanks

Personally, I think it is a horrible idea to disable retroactive processing in GP, there must be something wrong in ur rules that there are performanace issues. Anyways, to answer the original question, can be done in many ways:
    1. delete all the entries from the trigger tables for all the retro evt definitions, just before each payroll run.
    2. make retro evt definitions inactive on the trigger setup page.
    or
    3. customize generate_triggers peoplecode function so that it does not make entries for retro events(but this is rather cumbersome)
In any case, retroactivity is such a power feature of GP. This idea of disabling retroactive processing sounds really bizarre.
    Thanks,
