How to disable dock in full screen mode?

Hi, every time im full screen the dock are bugging me. Exemple, when i'm on Facebook on Google Chrome in full screen and I want to write something in the chat, the dock pop-up. Is there a way to disable dock when i'm in full screen mode? I'm on a MBP mid 2012 running Maverick.
Thanks you!

Alternatively you can use the same principle anywhere on the screen, you do not have to scroll to the bottom.  Simply move the cursor to the screen edge where your dock is then move the cursor the same direction again. You do have to briefly pause between the two movements but you can do this anywhere the dock is located, it does not have to be at one position on the screen.  That should speed things up a bit and prevents the dock from appearing by inadvertently scrolling to the side or the bottom.
If you can, get a Magic Trackpad, Lion navigation works very well with one of these, I think that the days of the mouse are numbered.  The numbers of gestures available with the Magic Trackpad is extensive in Lion.

  • How to show dock in full screen mode

    Hello,
I'm wondering how to get the dock to show up temporarily in full screen mode. When I place my cursor near the bottom of the screen in a full screen app, the dock doesn't pop up. Is this normal and if so, how do I switch between full screen apps without using gestures on the mouse? I'm really hoping that this is a bug.
    Thanks

Would anyone else like to see an auto-hiding Dock in full-screen mode?

Well, it doesn't work consistently here.  I have Dock Hiding on.  When a screen does not contain a full screen app, it works fine.  Moving the mouse to the bottom of the screen (where I have the dock) pops up the dock as expected.  If the screen has a full screen app in place (usually Mail or Safari), the behaviour is very inconsistent.  Moving the mouse to the bottom of the screen, waving it back and forth, up and down, with the odd click, will bring up the dock in maybe 10 to 15% of attempts.  Take the app out of full screen, and it works perfectly.  Put it back in full screen, stops working.  This is a new MacBook Pro with 10.7.1
Any ideas welcome.  Meanwhile, Im getting used to the four finger squeeze to bring up the Launcher.

  • How to show controller in full screen mode

During DVD playing, switching to full screen mode the controller disappears and we can use only the bar at bottom with the essential commands. No possibility to use the rallenty, for instance, which is available opening the drawer of the main controller. The function can be activated through the key board but is not so direct. Does some body know if it is possible to have the complete controller visiblealso in full screen mode?
    Thanks

  • How to Open File in Full-Screen Mode

How do I set a Quicktime file to open in full-screen mode?
      Windows XP

New to QuickTime 7 Pro is the ability to apply "Presentation" to a file. You'll see the tab in the Movie Properties window.
One option is to "Enter fullscreen mode when opened". Use Save As to create a new file (leaving your original untouched).
The "Presentation" properties travel with the file and you can use the feature even in Web based media (if you use special html tags).

  • OVCD: Disabling toolbar in full screen mode

I use OVCD from my macbook pro in fullscreen mode.
Every time I hover close to the bottom to switch Solaris windows this toolbar pops out.
Is there a way to completely disable the toolbar?

Figured this one out myself. Apparently if you move your cursor to the top of the screen in full screen mode the toolbar drops down. Then there's a little lock symbol you can click to make it stay down. Basically it works like the launch bar on the desktop.
    Thanks self!

  • ITunes: how to get out of "full screen" mode in Lion?

running Lion for the first time - I hit some kind of a a wrong button on iTunes, and it went into some kind of goofy full screen mode.  How do I get it back to the original mode?

You  must have tripped over the double-headed arrow symbol at the right end of the menu bar.  To get back, slide your cursor to the top of the screen to display the menu bar and slide right to the double-headed arrow (now enclosed in blue) at the right end of the menu bar.

  • How do I get to full-screen mode in Adobe Reader 10.4.4 for ipad mini? It's vanished.

I updated Adobe Reader and now double tapping activates zoom. There does not seem to be any way to go to full-screen mode, and reading with the header (time and battery life icons) is unpleasant.

Thanks for taking the time to post -- especially to a thread that was started almost a year ago.  I'll give your suggestion a try.

  • How to get out of full screen mode in Firefox

Have tried to get out of full screen mode by pressing F11 and f11 and esc but nothing works.  any suggestions?

Shift-CMD-F toggles full screen off and on in Fx. Also, if you've put the Full Screen icon in the Firefox Toolbar, bring the mouse cursor up to the top of the screen. This will reveal the toolbar and you can click on the icon to return to normal.
Get the icon from View>Toolbars>Customize. Drag it into the Toolbar somewhere.

  • Do not show the Mac menu bar and the Dock in full-screen mode option not available

"Remote Desktop Connection" for mac has an option to
hide the menu bar in full screen mode.  I am unable to locate this option in the new
Microsoft Remote Desktop.  Without this option the remote desktop connection bar becomes completely inaccessible.  And since the old "remote desktop connection" program has poor support for windows 8.1 I cannot go back.
Is there a workaround?  Can you please add this important feature back in?

    H,
I am afraid that we have no solution or workaround for this. I will help to submit this as a customer wish to the product team.

  • Intrusive 'Dock' in Full Screen Mode

I recently moved from a 2009 24" iMac to a current 27" model. Operating system is 10.6.6 with Lr at 3.3. I migrated Lr rather than a fresh install. And here's an odd thing. Since the move, Full Screen no longer overrides the Mac Dock at the bottom of the screen. Not the end of the world; but nevertheless irritating as it clashes somewhat with the filmstrip.
I could of course hide the Dock when using Lr, but on the old machine - and from what I can glean from the text books and Help - that was by default an automatic function. Further, from what I can see there is no obvious Preference option in either Lr or OS X.
Anyone have any clues on how to resolve this? I surely cannot be the only one.

    Charlie Choc wrote:
did you change your screen resolution to the native for the 27" display,  2560x1440?
Yes, I changed to that in System Preferences/Displays/Resolution. Only way to fill the new screen. Do you think changing to that might have caused the glitch; or had you in mind it might have been caused by my not having done so?
Whichever, your thought has sparked another with me. Perhaps re-installing Lr might trigger some sort of configuration contact within the now established 27" resolution. I will try that when I have a spare half hour. Cannot see that it would cause harm. Unless someone knows better.
Thank you for your interest in this.

  • How to disable 'esc' quitting full screen?

    Hi. The title explains itself:
I will be on anything such as Facebook, want to close a 'chat window', click 'esc' which should work but instead closes full screen. Quite annoying.
Not a huge problem but if there was a way to stop this it would be very helpful since shift-command-f is the shortcut for closing full screen officially...
    Thanks.

esc should toggle form a small window to full screen. So to close a full screen chat I would think hit esc to get small screen window and then uparrow-command-w should close the window.
