How to disable FF & TB auto-switching to Work Offline?

WinXP SP3,
FF3.6.x,
TB3.1.x,
Always ON BB connection through Cable Co.,
WinXP is set to NEVER go dormant automatically (Manual shutdown only)
After some indeterminate period of inactivity, both FF and TB switch to Work Offline mode. Both start up online. This is a (several times) daily occurence. I don't find an obvious config setting. How do I stop this irritating behavior?

If you want to revert to the previous secure version, do the following. 
Go to [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html Download Firefox v3.6.17] and download it to the desktop. 
Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to "Mozilla Firefox" and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (don't checkmark the box). 
Then reboot and delete the folder called "Mozilla Firefox" at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox 
Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier. 
Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation.

Firefox 3.5.1 on WinXP automatically switches to "Work Offline" when a connection to the internet drops. This was not the case with earlier versions. Why is this necessary? Is there an option/preference setting to change this?

I am not exactly sure why the menu did not detect the password change or if it was stored incorrectly after you changed it? But after storing the correct password you can manage any duplicate passwords in the password manager.[[Password manager - Remember, delete and change saved passwords in Firefox]]

I created a custom address like Fax:Winnie@/FN=333 in my tab environment, it returned an error about “The address ‘Fax:Winnie@/FN=333’ is not a valid SMTP address”. Please update your Global Address List in Exchange server and if there is any error log,
please provide more information for further analysis.

How to disable Telnet on a switch

I would like to disable Telnet on a Cisco 3560G switch. I have seen all over the web that the way to it is by:
line vty 0 4
transport input ssh
However, this doesn't work for me. SSH is not a valid transport on my switch. The only allowable transports are "All", "None" or "telnet". If I try SSH it gives the invalid input error.
I'm assuming this is because SSH is defaulted on Catalyst switches, but how can I remove Telnet?

Oops, sorry i misunderstood your original post. Yes, definitely do not use "transport input none" as this will indeed lock you out of the switch.
Which IOS version are you running on the switch ?

How to disable apps from auto-refreshing?

I've got an iPad 2 with the latest iOS on it. Except for one annoying bit of behavior, I love it. What is so irritating is how iOS seems to refresh an app if you leave it and then return. A case in point: I use Zite to read news of all sorts. Quite often I'll click a link in a Zite article, which then opens Safari or the iTunes store, or some other app. After I complete my business in the second app, I double-click the home button and select Zite to continue. iOS will cause Zite to go through a refresh cycle and I wind up on page 1 rather than within the article I was reading. This means I have to swipe through any number of pages to find the original article, which is made more difficult because Zite, on refresh, has reordered articles and added new ones to the mix.
This is not unique to Zite though this is the app where I notice it most. I have found that returning to Safari after using another app will cause Safari to refresh and occasionally not display the page I was visiting immediately, causing me to retrieve the history.
Is there any setting anywhere that will disable this?

I do not believe there is a way. You can disable the camera in restrictions that would prevent access to the camera but then you would not be able to use it either and you would need enable the camera again in restrictions if you wanted to use it.

How to disable pulseaudio (temporarily) to make pSX work

I can't get the emulator pSX to work as it fails with the following error message:

Google told me I need to disable pulseaudio, but I don't know how. I tried the command "killall pulseaudio" and using a task manager and killing the task, but it starts up whenever I load pSX and this in turn causes (or at least I think it's causing) pSX to fail. I don't want to uninstall pulseaudio if it can be avoided. Any suggestions?

You'll have to figure out what process is spawning pulseaudio repeatedly.
Let's assume you're using gnome. I'd try running 'gnome-session-properties' and then unticking "PulseAudio Sound System". You may need to restart gnome-settings-daemon, or failing that, log out and log back in.
I'm sure that there's something analogous for other environments.

I don't think the URL is controlling the language.
Your ID (Marketplace I suppose you are referring to) is also of no importance on "help.sap.com" (public website).
So I think one of the places to maintain the language used, is de default language in your browser.
Maybe it can also be the user language of the J2EE engine, and of course the logon language used when logging on (to some of) the J2EE components (if a language is asked for).
But personal i would prefer using an "internal" link to a file-server / network-drive then an external internet link....

You first need to fix a few things that can be causing some serious problems with your Firefox.
Reset your User Agent: [[Websites say that Firefox is outdated or incompatible even though it's the latest version]]

If you enter device manager, right click, and select Scan for hardware changes, is the wireless adapter detected?
You may want to start by installing the latest drivers available from HP for your device. Some notebooks will have a separate driver set for buttons and switches that may re-enable this functionality, or an updated driver for the wireless adapter may include
updates that allow the adapter to be seen following the automatic switch.

Torch 9810 Need basics about Wifi auto-switching and tethering, please.

Concerning my AT&T Data plan:
1- when i'm using the device by itself, all indicators show that auto-switching is working when wifi is available. ok, bb gurus, i can't afford any surprises on my bill, so...is it really working all by itself, or am i gonna have to play the "disable this, enable that" game to make sure?
2- when i'm tethered, i see my device is being used as a standard dial-up modem, so clearly there's no wifi to be had. but...during tethering, is there any hardware config that allows my device to become a wifi adapter instead of a modem?
3- i think i don't have hotspot capabilities, is that correct?
btw-i absolutely love how easy it is to check service/connection status.
EDIT: i just noticed that when i have wifi, the ssid shows up next to the "AT&T" on the main screen, i walked back & forth across the street and watched it change...holy-moly i'm digging this phone!

here's what i learned since i last posted:
as i understand it, BB internet services is something separate from my metered AT&T data (i think bb services is how/why i'm getting my POP mail, "reconciliation" rocks the house). the service has a useful status display showing how it's connected...this auto-switches between network & wifi before my eyes as i walk in & out of range. here's the kicker...in the homescreen 'header' where my active carrier is displayed, a connected ssid is displayed along with it, ie "AT&T - Public Hotspot" which also changes on the fly. huh...yeah...and tapping said header opens up the connection manager, this is one smooth ui.
none of that says my data-stream is also being auto-switched, but it would be a fair bet to assume if the services has a signal, the data connection would too. i'd like to dig into this a little deeper, i've seen several versions of the right answer in my research.

so i decided to get into a smartphone, did a lot of shopping, a total newb...i started by choosing the pantech crossover, and honestly for my minimal needs it looks like a real beaut. we setup the deal and the crossover was shipped but then misrouted. i was told 2 weeks for that to be resolved, and i got mad but remained calm. bottom line is the AT&T rep went to bat for me on customer service, and eventually arranged for me to go to the nearest store and get whatever i wanted. no crossover in stock. well, in real life, there was no denying the blackberry's. it was the torch 2 or the bold, i like a real keyboard. but i'm a total bb newb too, so i closed my eyes and pointed at what i could afford.
i'm a lucky bubba i know...because since then i've learned a lot about this version and its history, and the hardware inside is blowing my mind. sorry for rambling, it's just i'm getting into this.

How can I browse localhost when working offline?

When I startup FF when not connected to a network FF start as Working offline. This disables web-development until I uncheck Work offline.
This is annoying, since I work in various environments, frequently not connected. I want to browse localhost when working offline or simply disable FF getting to Work offline

How can I disable auto-switching desktops?

I've long appreciated the spaces/mission control feature of OS X. However, it seems more oriented to organizing desktops by application rather than by project.
Like many users, I suspect, I use different desktops for different projects, each of which requires a variety of applications (finder, word docs, spreadsheets, etc). When I'm working on project 1 in desktop 1, I never want to be whisked away to desktop 2. In fact, I never want to be switched to a different desktop automatically. If I click on an application, I want it to open a new window for that application. If a new iteration of an app can't be opened (ie, Mail), I'd like it to pull Mail to me rather than send me off to it. Aren't apps supposed to come when we call, not the other way around?
I have unchecked "...switch to a space with open windows of that application" in System Prefences, but my desktop continues to auto-switch, especially with Finder.
In short: is there a way disable auto-switching entirely? I'd like to be able to assign windows and navigate manually without being constantly pulled away from the project I'm working on.

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

How to stop multiple auto-switching to address bar every time I open a new tab and try to type something anywhere outside of address bar? Like something just wants me to use that embedded search when u type something not-web-address in address bar and hit enter. And the most ridiculous thing is that it happens repeatedly on like every second, like I just move down from address bar and start typing again, but then again it switches me to address bar, and 3, 4 times like that. And the result is also that I can't see the address of that page.
I think its has something to do with my AVG antivirus, because this started the same time some AVG Nation started to appear in every new tab i open (and thats also irritating me, I read about it here on support.mozilla.org and it seems that the only solution is to completely reinstall Firefox, but I dont want to lose all my settings) but when i type something in address bar and hit enter it opens the search results in Google.
Please try to help me, I like Firefox but I must switch to Chrome until I fix this problem.
