Under windows xp under playback in sound settings I only see the usb speaker, and my laptops integrated sound card. Am I missing icons for the playback devices cause under the creative software I only see SPDIF in which I'm using and the line/phono/mic in which I muted. If I can't disable the line/phono/mic in, where in my settings could I prioritize the spdif in to being the default player because the only default player seems the be the SB240? Which is fine but when I go into its properties I see SPDIF in and Mic in/phono/line and I mute the line in. The reason I'm asking for how to disable the mic/line/phono in is because I WANT for my soundcard to only accept, listen, and playback through the SPDIF in channel. I currently disabled all the recording devices, and now creative only picks up SPDIF in and line in under playback which is fine but I would perfer only SPDIF in or if that isn't possible to make it the default input device that the sound card only listens to. SoundBlaster Omni - How to separate Line In from Mic Array in Win 8.1?

In Windows 8.1, in Control Panel, under Sounds, the Line In is disabled when the Mic Array/Mic In is enabled. So, apparently, for some strange reason, I can't have the mic work and play things from the Line in. If you look at the Omni Utility in the system tray and go to the Mixer, the Mixer combines Line in/Mic In/Mic Array with no option to separate them out. THIS means I can't use the Line In without it also playing everything heard from the mic. Directions say to listen to your line-in by changing settings via the mixer, but the directions are WRONG, because there is no way to separate out the Mic.
What I am trying to do, which I've done successfully using the on-board crappy Realtek sound from the motherboards of various PCs over the past dozen or more years, is have sound from my SECOND PC go to the Line IN on my MAIN PC, so I can have sound from both PCs play out of my main system's speakers or headphones - and still use my Mic (I play WoW/Use Ventrilo and Mumble).
Color me surprised that this is apparently something that I cannot do with an $80 SoundBlaster Omni USB sound card. Then, when I DO set it to just the Line in (which won't work for me when I need to use Ventrilo or Mumble), the sound quality is utter garbage compared to using the Realtek sound on my main PC. Really? How does this USB sound card offer LESS functionality with WORSE sound than the on-board sound from PCs I've owned?
Is there some magic workaround for this, because otherwise, it's going back to the store and I doubt I'll ever trust another Creative product.

Depending on which soundcard you have there, but if your card is capable for
ASIO -> activate I/O drivers on Sonar/Options/Audio/Drivers -tab (mic/line sources should be listed there --> activate) and select the mic or/and Line sources on tracks "I" - dialog
WDM/KS -> use the Surround Mixer or windows recording controls for recording source selection (mic should be listed there)
MME32 - > same w/ WDM/KS
If you use Asio4All --> same w/ WDM/KS & MME32
No mic and line source simultaenously w/ WDM/KS and MME32.
You perhaps be able to do this w/ kX drivers.

You can also install modded version of Audigy 2 drivers/software but I have never done this w/ Li've! 5. so I can't be sure if you get ASIO support for your card.

My works require to listen many audio sources - that is way I get Audigy 2. When I mute (or unmite) Line In (and some other inputs) Audigy 2 make smoothness increase/decrease audio level. It is fine for many users, but I do NOT want it. I need imediately actions.
How can I remove this ? Maybe registry setting ? Anyhelp will be OK.

I have same problem. Sound card automatically makes fade-in during recording from line-in. So I can't record my guitar. Each recorded sound has increased volume in the beginning. How to disable such feature? Does anybody know?

I am using Zen V Plus 6gb to do li've line-in mic recording.
I experience creation of a few tacks when the recording ends.
When I asked Creative Tech, they said it is auto shut down when the voice recorded falls below audible level. Can I disable this?

If I got you right, it interrupts the recording when a period of seconds no signal more loud than a certain level is
on the line-in source? Right? Normally you could aplify anything, even white noise, but I don't get the point.
Are there any songs that have longer interruptions than 5 seconds according to this cd norm?

How to disable T60p mic without disabling other mics?

I use a headset occasionally and I want the onboard mic to always be disabled while allowing a plugged-in mic to work. Any advice?

You can mute it with software or another simple external solution would be to plug a jack into the mic port, this will disable the internal mic. You can buy jacks at stores like RadioShack or cut one off a bad mic.
If you want to mute it try going to control panel>Sound, double click the integrated microphone and select "recording" tab and click on "levels". You should be able to mute just that mic.
