How to disable LinkedIn birthdays in calendar

I'm using iCloud Calendar and have added my LinkedIn and Facebook accounts to OSX (Mavericks 10.9.3). Unfortunately my Calendar now shows not only the birthdays from my contacts (which I want to happen), but also all the birthdays from my 500+ LinkedIn connections as well.
I really don't want this. The birthdays now include hundreds and hundreds of dates from people with whom I have only have a loose business relationship, and couldn't care less about when their birthday is. As far as I'm concerned LinkedIn isn't Facebook and birthdays aren't really required but that a different question, which is up to LinkedIn and its users.
So the issue is that I want to select the accounts from which birthdays are shown in calendar. Strangely enough when you link your Facebook account to OSX it behaves in a completely different manner. In Calendar there's a separate Facebook birthdays selection which you can turn on or off. I should worh that way for LinkedIn as well.
Apple can you please fix this, or someone else could you please offer some help?

Disabling Linkedin is kind of overkill as I like the Linkedin integration just not the birthdays. I like that fact that the pictures of my contacts are automatically updated from their LinkedIn profiles, as well as the fact that I can directly see their profile when I click in contacts. The only thing I don't want is 500+ birthdays cluttering my calender.

Thanks David, I too had been trying only the "Turn off shared calandar messages in Notification center" in Preferences on my Macbook Pro, but continued to receive shared notifications. Then I used your suggestion above to "Get Info"and click "Ignore Alerts" on each shared calendar. Funny thing, when I went back to preferences, it had unchecked the "Turn off shared calandar messages in Notification center", so I had to recheck this option. Now both are sticking and it seems to have stopped the unwanted shared notices. Thanks for your post!
Others, if you are still having trouble, double check your MBP preferences as you may need to re-check this option.

I create a birthday calendar in iCal and then click on it in iphoto at the begining of the calendar project each year. Some how the birthday did not populate the photo calendar. Is there a way to add the birthday iCal calendar into the calendar project?

If you first select the calendar on the left, so that its background is highlighted blue/grey, when you make a new events they should be added to that calendar.

How do I create a new calendar for the current year, using last years calendar's birthday's/photos and comments from the lower pages?

Each year for the past 5 years I make a family calendar and send copies to all he family members around the globe. I hate that I have to recreate all the birthdays and special occasions from scratch, and re-drag all the photos onto these dates, in the lower half of the page of each month on the new calendar. How can I create a new calendar for the current year and port all of these photos/comments into the new calendar from last years calendar, to save having to redo all this work!! I am not talking about the upper half page of the photos only...I am referring to the calendar page of each month.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Open iWeb so you see your original site in the left hand pane. Use the File->New Site menu option to create a new site. Give it the name you want.
Now select a page in your original site and type Command+D. That will duplicate the page. Drag the duplicate page down to the new site and rename it as needed. Do that for the other pages you need in the original site.

How to hide birthdays in Calendar except important ones ?

Is it possible to hide most birthdays in Calendar, except a few, i.e., those of the VIP's, for instance, the spouse? ;-)
I don't want to delete all the birthdays from AdressBook, but I'd like to see in Calendar only those that are really important.
And, if possible, I'd like to get a reminder only for those.
All hints and pointers will be highly appreciated.

No, I meant disable the built-in Birthdays calendar and create your own. There is a preference to display the Birthdays calendar. Turn it off, create a new calendar, and add all the Birthdays you want to know about.

No, that's not the only solution. You can disable the Birthdays calendar and manually add repeating events for each birthday you want to be reminded of. But I don't suppose you'll like that idea either.

We share our calendars within the team (read only for the other team members).
My problem:
I would like to see only the bookings of the other team members. But I have to accept each single calendar entry, also those of the other persons (on which I have read only access).

How do I add and delete calendars to my iPod Touch 4

I'm not meaning specific events here. I want to delete the ENTIRE calandar linked to my email, along with all events connected to it. I THOUGHT I was adding birthdays to a birthday list, but no, all my events linked to my email. I don't want them to link to my email. I WANT to make a calandar for my payday events, and use a separate one for birthdays, and still another for appointments. How do I create a separate calendar for each of these things, and delete the one associated with my email?
*Edit, I finally figured out how to delete my email calendar, but now I'm stuck with a generic one I can't label instead, along with the birthday calendar. Further, when I try to add a birthday to ONLY the birthday calendar it adds it to the general instead. I WANT my birthdays on the birthdays and so on. How do I fix this??

How to Delete Duplicate Birthdays in iCloud?

While the birthdays are shown properly on my iPhone, there are duplicate records in iCloud. I guess this might be due to revisions to the contact information, or synchronization of two (or even more) sets of contact information with iCloud by mistake. For the latter, I have already removed the duplicate set of contact information from both my iPhone and iCloud. However, there are still duplicate birthday records in iCloud as shown in the attached picture. When I attempted to delete the duplicate birthdays, a message saying that this is a read-only information and can't be edited would display.
I should be grateful for other users' advice on how to resolve the problem. Advice on how to distinguish which of the duplicate records is associated with the existing contact and hence should be retained, and which is/are associated with old records and can be deleted would also be highly appreciated. Thanks for the question. I understand you are having issues with your Birthday calendar in iCloud, specifically duplicate events. The following article addresses Birthday calendar troubleshooting, and steps to resolve any duplicate entries:

To clean up issues related to manually adding birthdays to a calendar in Calendar (or iCal):
1. If you already have the Birthdays Calendar enabled, deselect it in the Calendars list in Calendar (or iCal).
2. Search Calendar (or iCal) by entering "birthday" (without the quotes) in the Search dialog in the top-right corner of the Calendar (or iCal) window.
3. Sort the Search results by title, so they are easier to analyze.
4. Locate any birthdays that are returned in the Search results that are not contained in a Holidays Calendar (such as John F. Kennedy's Birthday, Lincoln's Birthday, and so on).
5. For each non-Holidays birthday returned, decide if you want to keep it. If so, open Contacts (or Address Book) and verify that you have a Contact for the individual. Enter the birthday information for that person in Contacts (or Address Book). For more information about updating Contacts (or Address Book) fields, see this article.
6. After verifying that the birthday is entered in Contacts (or Address Book), remove any birthday events not stored in the Birthdays or Holidays calendars by selecting them and choosing Delete from the Edit menu.
Note: You can select consecutive items by holding down the Shift key while selecting them. You can select non-consecutive items by holding down the Command key while selecting them.
After cleaning up any manually added birthdays, you can enable or re-enable the Birthdays Calendar. To enable the Birthdays Calendar for the first time, open Calendar (or iCal) > Preferences and select the checkbox next to Show Birthday's Calendar. If you temporarily hid the Birthdays Calendar as per the instructions above, you can re-enable it by selecting the checkbox for it in the Calendar List.

I want to modfy Birthday subscription calendar to include custom events that appear in my Contacts. Is there a way to do this?
Or how can I create a new subscription calendar to be published in my iCloud acct pulling the custom events from Contacts?

You have some contacts with more than one birthday?
To add a custom label for a date, select Edit for an existing contact. Select Add Field. Select Date. Scroll up with the Info window above the date selection and select Other for the new date selection. Select Add Custom Label and then select this label for the new date field for the contact.
As far as linking dates with multiple contacts, the answer is no to that.

how do I remove a gmail calendar which has inadvertantly become merged with my home apple calendar?
I have to view the gmail calendar as well, but now some entries are appearing as duplicates.
Currently I view my own apple calendar (home), a gmail calendar, a googlemail calendar and a friend's icloud calendar on the same screen - (all view only).
Hiding or deleting either the gmail OR the Home calender leaves me with missing entries.
Showing both gives duplicates.

Earlier today, I lost my friend's calendar (icloud on an iPad) when he accidentally changed something. Trying to get that back (unsuccessfully) he or I must have inadvertantly changed someting, but don't know what.
I also view my calendar on ipad2 and iphone 5, but have not touched any of these settings.
Getting desperate! - the gmail and googlemail are the church calendars and there will be chaos if I can't get this fixed!

Assign a reference user to the 100+ users and create events in the factory calendar which assigns and removes the role from the reference user only.
The downside is that it is not scalable for many of the same concepts at the same time, because a dialog user can at one logon time only have one reference user assigned to them.

Unsyncing Facebook birthdays and calendar

I must be an idiot because I cannot figure out how to do it. I have googled it and any direction I don't have the same options. Can someone help me out?
