How to disable or redirect the back button on the browser tool bar

I am creating a web help file for a web based software
application. I am using context sensitive help, when I click on the
help for a topic and close the window, when I click the Back button
on the Internet Tool bar it goes back to the help instead of the
software.

Old values are displayed when i click the back button of the browser

Hi all,
I am having a INPUT screen having 2 textfields and a "Confirm" button. When user enters values in these textfields and clicks on "Confirm" button, another CONFIRMATION page is displayed where these values are just displayed as h:outputText. But when user clicks the back button of the browser previosly entered values are getting displayed in the INPUT screen. My question is how to remove these values or set to null on click of the Back button of the browser?

i believe this should handle the browser. For instance, you have to tell him with meta tags, not to cache the website. Until yet I didn't succeed in doing so!

When I click on a result of a Google search and then go that web site, the Back button on the toolbar is grayed out and I cannot return to the search results.

When using FF3.6 and making a Google search, when I click on a result and then go that web site, the Back button on the toolbar is grayed out and I cannot return to the search results without going to History. This does not happen all the time; about 1/2 of the time.
This problem is not limited to Google, but occurs with other sites as well.

If you are talking about searches from - http://www.google.com/ - are you logged into a Google account all the time? If so, check your "Search Settings" from the "gear" in the upper-right corner of that Google search page and see if you have '''Open search results in a new browser window.''' check-marked, at the bottom of that preferences page. When that is check-marked and you have Tab options in Firefox set to '''Open new windows in a new tab instead''', you will get search results always opening in a new tab instead of the same tab. As to why that works different for "sponsored links" I don't know, I haven't seen the "sponsored links" for years now, I have a GM script that blocks those advertisements.

I am getting the same problem with the Google Chrome browser.

On certain websites, my own, that use flash the pages do not work if you use the back button in the browser. They have to be refreshed before any of the links will work again. Very frustrating.

When I am browsing my own sites (2 of them) which are built in Flash, everything is fine following the links on the pages. But if I hit the back button in the browser, the pages freeze up and none of the links work anymore. If I refresh the page, then the links work fine.
This does not happen on Safari as after pressing the browser back button, all is well.

Dear jscher2000, thank you for your response! I'm running 16.01 version, so the 3.6.20 version isn't the correct one. I've updated it yesterday.
I also have to mention that today everything seems to work just fine! :) I don't experience the problems anymore and all links work again just normally, eventhough I'm logged into Facebook account. Maybe it was just a temporary bug.
I couldn't say what was the reason to that solution, but I'm glad there aren't problems anymore with Mozilla.

LOve Firefox but it's annoying that if I'm using a search engine (I use lots of subscription legal search databases), when I press the back button all the data I entered in the search boxes has disappeared. I'm sure Firefox didn't use to do that?

I've had several users complain of receiving this message after they have filled out and submitted a form.

Instead of hitting the "back" button on the toolbar, where is the drop down to go back 2-3 pages?

I used to be able to go back a few pages at a time until the latest upgrade. Now, if I click the "back" button on the toolbar I can only go back 1 page at a time. This doesn't always work and I have to go back to my original starting point which could be 10-15 click back ... is there anyway to get the option to go back multiple pages like before or can I just not use certain web pages anymore?

Hello there i am a Mac user and i don't have the "Back" button neither the "next "button on my toolbar

i just have downloaded Firefox.4 and unfortunately the "Back "Button and the "next" button are missing in my toolbar and i can't see them when clicking on "customize toolbar"
i also have bookmarks on my toolbar that disappeared!
In the Previous version of firefox ,i had many bookmarks on my toolbar but couldn't see them all,i had to make a right click to see the ones that were not in my toolbar,this function disappeared which is a little annoying

Click on the Desktop or open a Finder window. Select Preferences from the Finder menu. Click on the General icon in the toolbar, then check the items you wish displayed on the Desktop. Similarly click on the Sidebar icon to configure what appears in the sidebar.
These preferences can be all different for each user. When you create a new user your pre-sets are not duplicated in the new account.

How to Disable Detail VO Row Edit button in the HGRID

I have a HGRID with recursion and basing on some criteria i have to disable the Edit button of the master and detail rows.Last row which dont have recursion but that level itself satisifies some criteria and button should be disabled.As there is no level under that the code in rowimpl for VLAccessor is not looping through.
Can any one tell me please .. how to do this.?

Using the Back Button in the Browser

Does Anyone know how to do this, I have tabs on my homepage,
and I want to be able to have it so that if the user goes to a
different page from the tabs and then hits the back button they
will still have the tab that they were just looking at to show.
Right now, dreamweaver makes me have a default tab. Here is my
homepage just to give you an example of the tabs I am talking

Your browser's back/forward buttons are 'page' based.
Tabs ON a page are often javascript based, and are not seen
as individual
pages by the browser.
Your option would be to turn the javascript based tabs into
page based tabs
forcing a new page request when switching between tabs. That
may or may not
be desirable for your needs.

Problem with the back button in the Alv ouput

i have refresh button in output of my alv report when i click on this it is getting refreshed ,now the problem is with the back button after refresh whn i click on back button it is not going to selection screen , i have to click the back button thrice to come out to the selection screen ,if have refreshed the ouput screen twice .
if i dont refresh the back button is working fine , So i have used "call to selection screen 1000" it coming to selection screen without any problem but in selection screen on clicking on back button it is again going back to output screen ,So please suggest what has to be done here .

Please try to understand the flow of program and the screen navigation
the click of BACK button triggers PAI and (to the best of my knowledge) you might have called the ALV screen number without any checks ( may be) so it is again taking to the ALV.
try using

On the back button is the little drop down arrow completely gone, or is there a way I can I get it back. With the new Firefox I have to keep hitting back over and over again?

Is the back button drop down arrow replaced by the little arrow next to the star on the bar?
Maybe it didn't install correctly, I have Windows XP if that makes a difference. I know from the tour when the new one loaded there is supposed to be a bookmarks thing next to the new location for home but it's not on there either. It's still on my toolbar so I don't care enough to fix it so there is no need for anyone to address it, I just put the info in case it tells you something about it not installing properly.
Sorry, it's not easy for older people to keep up with all the daily website changes, adding browser changes adds to the confusion. I hope my head doesn't explode one day. Thank you for the help.

You can get the drop down list by either right-clicking on the back/forward buttons, or holding down the left button until the list appears.
If you want the drop-down arrow you can add it with the Back/forward dropmarker add-on - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker
