How to disable "Power optical drive" icon?

Hi everyone,
does anyone know how to disabling on the taskbar the "optical drive power" icon or how to deactivating at all the service? I cannot find it in Services, msconfig, not even in 3rd parties registry editors like Cc Cleaner or Jv16 PowerTools...
Thanks a lot,
Walter

Ive tried several options but was not able to remove this symbol from the task bar.
I dont know if this is the right one but when you open services there you will find option Toshiba optical disc drive service.
Anyway, dont change anything. It runs in the background and doesnt disturb on any way, right?

  • How to disable the Optical Drive

    Hi,
THere seems to be some problem with the optical drive.
Is there a way to disable it till it gets resolved?
I don't see any straight forward way to do that.
    Thanks,
    Manglu

None I know of short of (ugh) a) voiding the warranty by opening up the computer to pull the plug on it or b) putting tape over the slot.

  • How to disable power off when the phone is locked with pass code.

Can anyone teach me how to disable power off function when the phone is locked?  With this , user is able To trace the iPhone when it goes missing. Besides, users will have enough time to remote wiped.

i also had my phone stolen ... the first thing they did was turn off the phone so i couldnt track them.. you should need to enter your passcode in order to turn off the phone. i dont care if you cant do a hard reset.. i would rather loose the ability to do a hard reset for the added security .. besides without hard reset if it jammed badly i would just wait ontill the battery died.

  • Mac Pro won't power optical drive or internal hard drives?!?!?!?!

I'm in a strange predicament. I've acquired a used 2006 Mac Pro that I've gotten to power up just fine. I get the start up chime and the screen goes grey. The problem is that it will stay on that grey screen for 5 minutes or so until a flashing folder appears. It never loads the OS. So I've loaded the OS on an old Firewire external HDD and the computer will boot fine off of that. When using the external, I've noticed that System Profiler is not detecting my internal HDD or optical drive. I do not think they are receiving any power. They both show no signs of activity, functionally or audibly. I've tried reseting the SMC, zapping PRAM- even swapping power supplies. Nothing. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hi Grant Bennet-Alder. The HDD and optical drive are both installed and all the cables are connected to both the logic board and the devices themselves. The reason I think they aren't receiving power is usually you can hear some activity from them. These seem completely dead but work fine in a different computer.

  • How to Disable the CD Drive

    Help!
My CD drive quit working on me, so I decided to buy an external CD drive. Whenever I try to use the new drive, my old drive (that no longer reads CDs) opens and tries to take over, making it difficult to use the new one.
Is there a way that I can disable the defective CD drive that originally came w/ the computer?

    Hi-
    Welcome to Discussions!
Open the tower, and disconnect the drive.
Better yet, install a brand new $30 internal drive. Suggest the Pioneer DVR-112 or 115.

  • How to disable power light?

    Hi guys,
Any idea how to disable the glowing power light on my HP Mini 210-1142CL?  The constant glowing light is annoying, especially as I am trying to sleep at night.  Even worse, it seems to run down the battery.  My mac will sleep consistently with the obnoxious glowing light, last for days.  The HP winds down in sleep mode in one day.  Great battery life while Im working on it, terrible while its sleeping.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Justin

for changing the light settings go to menu->ctrl.panel->settings->general->personlization->display-> there u have light time out option change it with ur desire output..
for disabling the power saver got to menu->ctrl.panel->settings->general->personlization->themes->power saver and just change it to none. and u r done.

  • How to get back iCloud drive icon in Finder?

    Hello,
I removed the iCloud Drive link from my Finder's favorites as I was unable to open it properly (only worked when using the context menu via right-clicking). Now, how do I re-gain access to it? I cannot find any iCloud Drive icon anywhere in the finder.

Thanks, that solved it. Unfortunately, I still cannot open the iCloud Drive by simply clicking on the link in the finder, I have to do the route via Right-Click and Open in new tab. But googling that issue, I found another one having the same problem, so it is not just me at least...
EDIT: I should have read your post completely After Force-Quitting and re-starting the Finder, the link in the Favorites bar works.
    Thanks!

  • Satellite M30 Pro: how to change the optical drive?

    Hi there,
could anybody please give me a hand on changing/replacing the optical drive on my Satellite Pro M30?
Alas, my drive is a DVD-ROM/CD-RW. I have another one with the capability of burning DVD's (Super-Multi drive from Matsu****a). I just wonder how I could replace them, since it os not possible to easily slide them out?
    Thank you.

    Hi
To remove the optical drive you need only to remove 2 screws which are placed at the bottom of the unit on the drive side. Then you can simply slide outward the drive to disconnect it from the connector on the system board.
The drive is placed in the plastic frame. So you need also this frame for a new drive.
To remove the plastic frame from the device you have to remove 4 screws.
    Bye

  • How to ID DVD Optical Drive

I replaced the optical drive in my Sawtooth some time back and now, looking at the drive I cannot ID what exactly it is. There are no identifiers that Google will relate to an optical drive.
I know I could reinstall it and let the system tell me, I'd rather not go there if any of you have a better (easier) way of determining this.
I'm thinking it's RAM and not ROM but not sure. Mactracker doesn't help because it lists what the options were.
    Thank you.

I am sorry for being vague. Of course system profiler is going to show me what is currently in the Sawtooth. Actually don't need Sys Profiler as I know it's a Pioneer DVR 115D. It replaced the one that came stock from Apple and I'm wanting to ID it (the original).
Perhaps reinstalling it and letting Profiler tell me would have been easier.
    Thanks for replying.
    Edit:
There's a barcode sticker. Above the 'barcode' is 678-0275 and below the 'barcode' is LTR1C 678T0212 N61328955L27A
I wasn't able to get Google to provide anything relevant.

  • How to remove stuck optical drive carrier

I'm in the process of replacing a worn out Optical Drive in my 2007 Mac Pro Tower. When I got to the 'remove the optical drive carrier,' the stinker comes out about 3/4 inch and then no further. I don't want to force it of course. Anyone else ever have the same problem?

I posted same question, got no answer so found a solution? for Mac Pro 3.1  early 2008 version.
This only can be done if you have 2 super? drive bays with lower unoccupied.
In my case it did not move at all in attempt to pull it out - in fact it is stuck on two screws that act as posts and are in slots in the bottom side of aluminum tray that it is supposed to slide out from. You don't see these until you get it out.
In your case with 3/4" opening, first try pulling one side then other, rocking, prying, a small crow bar. Try harder.
    no, not the jack hammer.
    Failing all else,
    1) lay the computer - open side panel down - on the floor.
    2) slide the lower unoccupied DVD tray open with your finger and insert a blunt object (I used big old blunt screw driver) into the opening aimed down towards the floor. When you apply force to the inserted object, it is in the direction that enclosure must be pulled to get it out normally and on the side where it is stuck. You may have to strike the object, as I did, before enclosure will come free.

  • How to disable "Save" and "Print" icons?

    Hello,
I need to publish a pdf file in our company's site.
According to my boss requirement, the file should be "read only".
I just can't to disable those "save" and "print" icons.
How can I make the read-only file?
    Thank you in advance,
    Marina Levy

You can set up the document's security to not allow printing and making changes to the document, but you cannot prevent someone from saving a copy if you make it available for them to view. With digital rights management software, such as Adobe's LiveCycle Rights Management, you cna have much more control over what people can do with a document.
