How to disable 'select display' on screen sharing?

One improvement in Lion is Screen Sharings 'asking' of the current logged in user as to whether or not it is ok to share the screen. While I understand the need for this in a multi-user environment, this is a unnecessary level of feature for most home users. In fact, it's been a total pain and I'd like to know how to disable it. Trying to remote support parents has become virtually impossible as they are unsure as to what it means to allow screen sharing when I attempt to connect.
Anyone know how to disable this feaute and let Screen Sharing work as it did pre-lion?

Apple menu > System Preferences > Sharing > Screen Sharing > Allow access for: account you want to log into
Connect as that user.

Open "Catalog Manager" and
navigate to Shared -> "Shared Folder Name" (ex: Sample Sales) -> _Portal.
Here you find all dashboards. Open the dashboard that you already enabled selection. In that dashboard folder you find one more folder with name: _selections*
Delete the _selections* folder.
You will get Enable option again in front end.

How do I activate the Multi-Screen Sharing in Lion? I was told it was on by default but when my partner logs in from his machine, I can't also login to the actual Mac itself. When I first enabled Sharing it allowed him to connect even though I was already logged in but it was very sluggish and eventually the whole system crashed.
Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure you have multiple desktops already running.
Go to System Preferences->Keyboard
Choose Keyboard Shortcuts
On the left select Mission Control. On the right, I have "Switch to Desktop 1, Switch to Desktop 2, etc"
On my iMac they were checked, and working.
On my MacBook they were unchecked. Checked the boxes, now it works.

Energy Saver, you can keep the computer awake while the screen saver shuts the monitor off but I'm not sure that would do it for you.

Method 1
a) Create a subscreen area in your screen layout where you want to create the select options.
b) In the top include of your module pool program declare a selection screen as a subscreen e.g.
       SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF SCREEN 100 AS SUBSCREEN.
             select-options s_matnr for mara-matnr.
       SELECTION-SCREEN END OF SCREEN.
c) In the PBO and PAI of the main screen where the select options needs to be created do a call subscreen of the above screen (100).
       CALL SUBCREEN sub_area INCLUDING
This call subscreen statement is necessary for transport of values between screen and program.
Note: All validations of the selection screen fields e.g. the s_matnr field created above should be done in selection screen events like AT SELECTION-SCREEN etc and not in PAI. These selection screen validations etc should be done in the top include only.
Method 2
a) Create 2 separate fields in your screen layout - one for the low value and one for the high value. Insert an icon beside the high value which will call the multiple selections popup screen on user command. Use function module COMPLEX_SELECTIONS_DIALOG to achieve this.

You can use the return table rng_kunnr to populate your own internal range table with the values entered by the user. Basically here you are just simulating the work of a select-options parameter by module pool screen elements

I tried with BADI MB_MIGO_BADI but I 'm not getting how to disable the Serail number tab ( Program SAPLMIGO Screen Number : 0360).

How do I speed up my Screen Sharing experience?

Hi. Apologies if this has already been answered, but I couldn't find post that matched. Anyway, I have set up Screen Sharing on my iMac so I can run it with my eMac (running Tiger 10.4.11). It all works fine except the response is a bit slow - that is to say the refresh rate doesn't make it workable if I'm working in image editing or whatever, in fact even just moving open windows around there's a noticeable lag in response time.
I think I should mention that both computers are networked via ethernet cables - not wirelessly - so the response is as good as I can get it at the moment.
I did hear somewhere that if I had an 'N' speed Router (as opposed to the standard 'G' speed) then this would improve the speed noticeably. Is that right? Also, my iMac is equipped with a 10/100/1000 Base T ethernet port, whereas my eMac is only the 10/100 variety. Will this make an 'N' speed router pointless. I just want to know before I waste money on something that'll make no difference really.

If you are using ethernet to ethernet connection, then 802.11g vs 802.11n WiFi does not matter.
The slowest ethernet connection will be the limiting factor, so the eMac's ethernet port is the controlling factor for transfer speeds.
If you want to experiment with a different VNC client and server, you might try installing Vine Server (aka OSXvnc) on the Mac to be controlled, and then use Chicken of the VNC as the client on the Mac you are sitting at. This pair of VNC client and server are very good at compressing the screen data to maximize network bandwidth.
The next trick you could try is to tell Chicken of the VNC to use less colors. CofVNC -> Connection -> Connection Profiles -> Default Profile -> Color. Try "Thousands of Colors" first, then maybe "256 Colors" although 256 is going to look very Andy Wohl'ish

I am writing a really basic JTree for showing a list of items.
Here is some of the code:

I would like to disable selection of the root node of my JTree.
Thus, if I make a call to getSelectionString() above, it would return null instead of the string that represents the root label.
I have read the following forum on disabling various TreePaths and TreeNodes in a JTree:

This forum suggests implementing the TreeSelectionListener interface and the TreeSelectionModel class and over-riding the addSelectedPath() methods. I tried this suggestion, and I was able to enable and disable the different children of the Jtree, but the root of the JTree would not disable.
I suppose that I could just simply remove the visibility of the root node, but I really want to avoid that option if possible.
Wait --- let me be clear ---- I want to disable the selection of the root node only - still allowing selection of all its children.
Any suggestions?
Am I missing something really simple here?

TreePath tp = event.getPath();
from TreePath get the component and then remove the selection from the treePath if it is the node u were checking/root node in this case
tree.getSelectionModel().removeSelectionPath(tp);

Are there any shortcut keys to switch between displays in screen sharing?

I have been trying the option-command-1 & 2 shortcut but it doesn not want to work for me. Is there something I need to setup before doing this?

I was talking about the keyboard shortcuts for the screen sharing app. I found out you need to be in Observer mode before using the option-command-1 & 2 shortcut.
