What do you mean how to activate SIM lock? If the device is locked to a particular carrier, and you do not want to use that carrier, you have to ask them about unlocking the device. As far as international roaming, that is determined by the carrier, contact your carrier.

Its the SIM card that you need to lock. Normally there is no PIN number set, but you should be able to find out how to set one, in the instructions for your mobile.
Once the SIM card has a PIN set, it does not matter which phone its put in, the PIN number will be needed to activate the phone, apart from emergency calls.
If you turn frequently your phone on and off, it can be a bit annoying to keep having to enter your PIN. You only get three tries, to get it right, then the SIM is locked, and you have to ring BT to get a PUK code.

I had a problem with mobile network APN settings. After Upgrade to ICS I had a working 3G connection, but after less than a week I was unable to use mobile internet. I tired in several different ways to fix APN settings (auto config SMS from provider, manual set and auto config from google servers). Strangely that internet had been worked KIND OF (just get notifications about facebook changes but can't fully load facebook, can't load web pages or skype, but some internet related notifications worked). Then I found some information on forum that sim-lock (a.k.a PIN) removal could help. And that worked. So I want to inform Sony Ericsson about this problem. I could give some more information if you tell me how (have some experince in linux bug-tracking and debuging)

We are aware that this was an Android/operator problem back in a older Gingerbread version but I have not noticed it on ICS. I suspect that this might be related to the SIM card. So check if your can use PIN code if you get a new SIM card from you network operator.

I don't know the Unix command but if you look under *System Preferences* open Keyboard and choose *Modifier Keys*. Click on *Caps Lock Key* and change the choice to No Action. Now the caps lock key will no longer work till you need it.

i dont know is this the issue with lates firmware v20, but i noticed somehing that is quite annoying.
after i recieve phone call, and if phone is locked, i open slider, talk, finish call, and then phona auomatically locks.
is there a way to make it stay unlocked. because if after call i want to check something in phone i need to slide it close, and then open again, witch is annoying.

I think I read the manual. Maybe I didn't describe my problem entirely. The following pasted below is from my default .xscreensave config file under HOME directory, which indicates that locking is disabled. The locking used to be NOT working until I somehow enabled it by installing some other softwares and changing some configurations which I can figure out. It is like the locking disabling in xscreensave config is overwritten to enabling somewhere else.
Please spare some patience to rookie like me. It is what newbie corner for, isn't it?

How to disable auto-lock

I've got a 32Gig iTouch, I like it a lot except for one feature. When my iTouch is connected to a power source, say my Bose SoundDock, I'd like to have the brightness level to stay on indefinately. The iTouch is receiving power throughout the connection period. I've turned-off the auto brightness feature in the Settings Menu, yet after about 30 seconds, the brightness dims?? Does it dim no matter if the auto-brightness is off or on -- makes no difference, or do I need to adjust another setting to get the desired result, to have it bright for as long as I like?

Settings / General / Autolock - set to never.
Is that what you want?
Also, I have a number of clock applications for the Touch/iPhone that will turn off the auto-off feature when in use.
I use those when in the SoundDock, and they stay on as well.

How can I disable the lock code on my N8

Decided to setup the mail for exchange on my N8 so I could see my work emails. Worked like a charm but after a couple of hours decided I didn't like being that contactable so deleted the mailbox.
Now to the problem, during setup I was forced to enable the phone lock and had to pick a 7 digit alphanumeric code. Fair enough I thought and went ahead. When I removed the mailbox however the lock remained in place with the default auto time of 30 minutes. When I checked in Phone management there is no option to disable this lock so I thought I could at least change the default time to something bigger but when you try, it remains at 30 mins. You also can't disable the auto time as it pops up an error message saying can't unlock phone.
Does anyone know if I'm missing something obvious here or is this something which can't be disabled once it's switched on? I've done a soft reset back to factory settings with no luck and the only other thing I can think of is re installing the firmware which seems a bit extreme.
Would like to hope there is some way to have control over this. Can someone help?

Which firmware your N8 having now? You can check firmware by choosing Call, then type *#0000#.
My N8 works fine on security setting and able to define Phone auto lock period, by choosing Menu>Settings>Phone>Phone management>Security settings>Phone and SIM card>Phone auto lock period>User defined>Lock after(minutes)
You will prompt to enter Lock code each time u define auto lock priod or enable/disable auto lock.

Do you mean the check box isn't enabled?
Or you remove the check but it doesn't "stick"?
Or you remove the box but documents are stil getting locked?
That setting doesn't apply to other things in System Preferences, just apps that support AutoSave and Versions. If you're having a problem with System Prefs, please clarify exactly what.
