How to disable the audio track in QT Pro Movie Recording

I have a device that allows me to record DVI video (1900x1200 uncompressed) into QuickTime Pro through the Movie Recording function. It all works very well except I am trying to record video only (it's the video output of a medical device, so there is no sound). In QT pro preferences, the choices for audio input are "automatic", built-in microphone", or "line-in". I need the choice of "none" (at these files sizes I need all of the CPU's resources working on the video to improve continuity and frame rate). Does anyone know of a script to disable the audio recording portion, or how I might write one? I have never written script before, but that won't stop me from trying to learn how (or rather, launching into a prolonged period of trial and error).
I am also going to approach this by nagging the video device manufacturer, but they are more Windows- centric (they do support Mac OS X and some Linux platform so all hope is not lost). However, it would be easier if I could have more control over my own destiny, and Mac folk seem to be much more helpful.
Thanks in advance to anyone who may be able to help.

First, thanks for the quick reply.
Setting the audio option to line-in with nothing plugged in yields the same results. The device (which is essentially a continuous frame grabber) doesn't have any audio feed at all, and I think that is what is confusing QuickTime. The file I record generates one video track and several sequential audio tracks that start at roughly every 4 seconds. The movie info say that these are Big Endian Stereo L&R tracks, and that have virtually no file size to speak of. Audibly there is nothing. However, the constant "start over" with the audio is causing 2-3 second skips in the video. When the video is recording contiguously, the frame rates are on the order of 15 to 20 fps, which at 1900x1200 is fantastic for what I am doing (software training video of a Linux-based medical device; nothing cool like Snapz available for this beast).
By the way, I have tried Hack TV Carbon, hTV 0.2 and QT Broadcaster, all which will recognize the device as an input source, but not choose it. These would let me deselect the audio input. As mentioned, I am prodding the device manufacturer for help, too, so maybe they will come up with something to address this.
The other thing is that this device creates a video stream that is transferred by USB2. If it was a Firewire device, I would be all over this with iMovie HD or a HD Video recorder, and just be done with it. Apple may have to come up with some universal driver to accept USB video in since they have dropped FW on some of the new models, but this frame grabber isn't on the list as of now.
No real solution I can find to convert USB to Firewire.
Anyway, I am hoping that somehow I could get into the QT script and just disable the audio recording, like the old "save as Un-editable" script would pullout the "save" function of the QuickTime action.
Of course, dumping the audio tracks after the fact doesn't fix the video; once it's chopped up coming in...
I suspect that the real answer to this issue lies with the frame grabber manufacturer. But, I am still hopeful that the QuickTime Script writers out there (or the Terminal folks) may have something up their sleeves.
Thanks for noticin' me.

  • How do I normalise an audio track in Logic Pro

I would like to know how to normalise an audio track in Logic Pro X in order to increase the volume level to limit of say 0dB.

When you bounce your song out there is a normalise box you can tick.
No one really does it though as it has way more detrimental affects than it has positives. You can also do it through the sample edit window, if, for some reason, you wanted to normalise a single track in your multi track recording.
oh, ps, make sure you have all the advanced features ticked in Logic X preferences.

Don't edit the audio into the timeline. Or pull the audio level down to zero in the inspector or on the audio waveform in the timeline.

The "Expert view" is a part of the new interface of Premiere Elements 11. In your version 10, you have the Timeline and the Sceneline view choices.
For now, I will assume that you are in the Timeline view where you utilize video and audio tracks and not a Filmstrip with scene slots.
I suspect that you may be after the following. Let us see.
To the right of where it shows the name "Audio 1" is a microphone icon. That represents the "Audio Display Style". There are two Audio Display Styles and you can select one or the other by toggling that microphone icon.
    a. In one instance, you will see the wave form plus a horizontal orange line which is typically the Volume Rubberband for Volume adjust. This Display Style has a light green background.
    and
    b. In the other case, you will see a dark horizontal line, no wave form. That dark line is on a light green background.
I suspect you are at "b". Are you aware that "a" exists.
If you want a really blown up version of "a" to look at, you could separate the audio from the video, double click the audio to open the Preview Windows, and then scale up the Preview Window.
We will be watching for your follow up to see if we are getting in sync.
    Thanks.

How do I seperate the audio track from the video and save it to a CD in Premiere Elements 13?

    Binbashi
You can separate the audio track from video and save it to a DVD disc within Premiere Elements but not a CD disc.
To do save to the audio to DVD disc, you do not have to separate linked audio video, just use the export Publish+Share/Computer/Audio and set Presets to the wanted format (AAC, AIFF, MP3, or Windows Waveform (WAV).
You will not see Audio in the choices since it is at the bottom of the list of choices under Publish+Share/Computer/. You will need to use the thin scroll bar to the right of the choices to scroll to it.
If you need information on selective export of Timeline content when dealing with more than just this one file on the Timeline, please let us know. If you are trying to produce a CD for listening in car or CD player elsewhere, please let us know.
Looking forward to learning of your results.
    Thank you.

  • How to delete the left channel only in the audio track

    Hello All,
I have put some video in the timeline that was recorded with a camcorder that only had mono sound. What I want to do is delete the audio track that has no sound, duplicate the audio track that has sound so that there are two audio tracks.
Now I've tried several different ways to do this, but it seems that FCE will only let me delete both audio tracks. How do I just delete one audio track and leave the other one intact?
    Thanks for your help.
    Mike

Select the audio. Then select Modify>Stereo Pair. You can then select the empty track to delete it. Then double click the remaining track to load it into the Viewer and set the Pan control in the Viewer window to 0.

  • Urgent help!! In 'export audio to movie' the final option to disable the original audio has disappeared. I am no longer allowed to deselect the audio tracks. Any ideas why Logic has stopped this?

    Greeting all
I'm creating a movie with a new music track and follow the appropriate steps as in the manual:
Choose format options for the bounced audio file, and click OK.
In the dialog that appears, enter a name and target folder for the movie, and click Save.Another dialog opens, allowing you to choose which of the original movie’s audio tracks should be used in the new movie.
Select the audio track that you want to retain in the new movie, and click OK.
The QuickTime movie is exported to the selected folder; it contains all selected audio tracks, plus the part of your project that is encompassed by the start and end points of the QuickTime movie.
However, this final dialog option 'select the audio tracks of movie to keep in new movie' has disappeared!!! For some reason Logic goes straight to bouncing without the offer to remove the original audio. My final movie ends up with both sets of audios. Any ideas please???
    Best
    Juan

It is still there and Logic did not remove it.
Did you do some trouble shooting.
Try to load a different video (with different codec) to see if it is video file related
Try a new (empty) project to see if it is project related
Try to remove Logic preferences (move the original back if this wasn't the problem because the file contains other info you might not want to lose)
    Hope that helps

  • How to get rid of wind noise on the audio track

I am sure there must be a method to get rid of wind noise on the audio track. Can someone tell me what the best filter is for this purpose as I shoot mostly outdoors and even with a sock covered mike I pick up the wind noise? I have FCS and therefore Soundtrack Pro. Are there filters in the audio filters section of FCP or must I go to STP? Thanks in advance!

I hope you mean you have a Rycote "Softie" or something similar protecting your mic . . ?
If so, you should be able to shoot in quite a high wind without any "wind noise" - but of course, even if your "sock" is correctly fitted and working well, you'll pick up the sound of the wind (different thing altogether).
If you have the right gear and are experiencing the buffeting sound you get with an unprotected mic, then I suspect there are gaps somewhere - so tape them up!
Either way, for removing unwanted sound, I know of no tool like the Linear Phase EQ filter in STP. Like everything new, it takes a little time to learn but it's very well worth it. With practice, you can almost slice out much unwanted sound like a knife.
I'm not sure why you don't want to use STP - it opened up a whole new world to me - and it's easier to learn than FCP IMHO.

  • How to edit both audio tracks with video that has two tracks?

I have video that has 2 tracks with it. Both however are marked ch. 1 on the premiere timeline. The properties say they are 48000 hz audio. Now when i hilight both tracks and right click to edit in Audition, only one comes over. I am wondering a few things here. Why are they both the same channel and how can i edit both of them at once since they ae exactly the same in Audition? Do i even need both tracks?

Well, that's another nasty problem with multicam editing in PP. It cuts only the video but not both. The audio track is always that of the first selected clip (of that in the first video track) when I create a multicam sequence. I have manually to open it in the timeline, enable or disable certain audio tracks, go back to the sequence and cut. But when I have to switch the audio for only some camera angles it is impossible, because I can only change the audio track for the whole sequence. Or do I miss something? Maybe it is another cool "design feature"?

  • How to edit only audio tracks in multicam sequences?

How can I cut only the audio track in a multicam sequence? I need it like in Final Cut Pro: Cut both video and audio, cut only video track x while audio track y remains untouched, cut only audio track x while video track y remains untouched. I can't find any solution. I use Premiere Pro CS6. Please don't recommend CC!

If you see that pop up you enabled icloud. Whether you want or do not want now to use it irrelevant until you actually disable activation lock.
In order to do that you have to change your apple id back to do that just long enough to sign in and back out. System will ask you to verify, don't.
Just sign in on the prompt you getting and then logout. Once done, change apple id to what you have now and verify. Then decide if you want to
use icloud (who does not want to be able to track their phone if lost or stolen).

  • How do I collapse audio tracks

I'm in FCP X 10.1 and can't figure how to collapse the audio so the black line is remove above the track so I can do cut without getting out of sync (see right side of image). Here's what it looks like. PS what is the view called and how did it happen.

Are you talking about this black bar?
You can't remove that. It's the shelf that connects the secondary storyline that's created when the audio cross fade transition is applied. It connects the two pieces of audio that were separate connected clips, connected to the multicam clip on the primary storyline. It looks like you detached the multicam clip audio from the multicam clip.
