How to disable the updater?Ov

Obviously, the Photoshop CS5 installer also installed an updater which runs and connects to the internet behind my back. I DO NOT WANT THIS!!! How can I disable this behaviour?

I could answer this very easy question but 'John Smith for example' thinks I know nothing of Macs and should stop talking about them.
Anyone other than John Smith for example can either use the OS to block the process from starting or they can use a firewall to keep it from talking to a server. There are some tricks to do this in OSX or you can use third party helper apps.
The only reason I have ever heard of someone wanting to disable an automatic updater is because the user thinks such a process will reveal to Adobe that they are using unlicensed software.

If you really wish to disable the update alert then the next time Software Update opens, select the update in the list then select "Ignore update" from SU's Update menu.

How to Disable the Adobe Flash Player and Reader Updates

Ok, For the last two months or so, I have been plagued by the Adobe Flash Player and Reader updater that will not go away. That's not the worst thing though: Somehow, someway, the Adobe updater subverts my entire windows 7 machine and makes itself the most important program on my system, stopping all other necessary functions. After I just turn it on, the updater will suspend all Windows operations in favor of the updater getting its message out the Adobe "needs" updating. I have tried updating the stupid thing, only to find that after the update goes in, my whole computer locks up and I have to load a system restore point. This thing acts like a virus, and until someone comes up with a way to make it work properly, that's what I'm calling: Adobe creates and sells a computer killing virus. I want a sure fire way to disable the updater that will work, and that will never bug me again about updating the virus. After going through three different computer repair companies, many online forums and chat rooms and my own knowledge of how to disable programs, I have instructed my firewall to block all attempts by Adobe to update. This has to stop.

I don't think there is a way for Edge Code. I'm not sure about Reflow.
Why don't you just upgrade? That will stop the notifications.

I don't know where that preference item is stored. But if it's in the registry, I would do the following if I were in your situation.
*export the entire registry
*set the no-update preference, according to Aaron's suggestion
*export the entire registry again (to a different name)
*compare the two files (e.g. with windiff); that should show you what's changed in the registry

Just talking about the tool capabilities, preventing a task approver (status manager) to approve/reject updates once he has already approved once is not possible out-of-the-box. You grant permissions to user: if you grant a user to approve task updates then
he has the permission to approve updates, no matter if it is the 2nd or 3rd time the task is approved or rejected.
Then of course you could do not custom development to do that.
I'd say that in order to help you, we would need to understand a little bit more your business need. Why do you need to achieve such a goal? We can surely propose you workaround.

My customer share AM defination codes between two applications,and let EO coexist in multi AMs.And they have build a lot of codes.I wonder if this will exist trouble.
from the support documents, I know the AM has an EO cache. after one client update an EO,if second client get the EO from the same AM,It will get it from the cache. What I want to know:
1.if the EO also exists in another AM2 in same Application,can the AM2 cache refresh data according to the AM1 update?
2.if AM2 can't be refreshed,how to disable the AM2 EO cache,then let all query directly to database ?

I need to clearify the scenario,this is really happening in a customer project,I just have a chance to review the codes today.
A team develops a system, they use AM1 to IUD data,B team also want to use the data,they have a separate app,and dont' want to define from EO to VO again,but A team don't want B team take the insert and update ability to A database, so they develop a simplify AM2,and give the source codes to B team.
I feel what they do is not right,but they must put it online and have no time to listen to me.Currently I want to find some fast way to avoid the data unconsistency risk.
But I dont know if am2 alone in an app,what the app should do to get refreshing data which is updated by another app.
BTW, from the customer concern,they could not create AM2 from AM1.because the AM1 and AM2 will not coexist in same app.

Disable the Update Opportunity Totals

Has anyone come up with a way of disabling the "Update Opportunity Totals" button on the Opportunity Page. Without going into detail, under certain circumstances, when our users click the button we come up with incorrect totals. This is due to our implmentation and how we populate the frequency & # of periods, not Oracle.
I looked into trying to add something in the in HTML Head Additions section of the custom web applet, that would disable just this button, but could not come up with anything.
The code that is executed when the button is selected is:

You can't remove the Update opty total button but I had a similar issue, we capture revenue in 2 fields mthly and inital setup and it wouldn't use both and send it to the Opty total so we looked at redesigning it. I have 2 new currency fields and when a record is updated it divides the initial setup by # periods and adds that figure to the monthly figure and puts it in the currency field that displays in related items. The update Opty button then works with the correct numbers. Of course this goes in right after R16 because then I can remove the original Monthly revenue field off the related items section.

How to Disable Software Updates

One of my customers, a small school district, has an Xserver running OS X 10.6.6. All of the student and teacher MacBooks are also on this version. The district is deploying a program called DeepFreeze on the student laptops which will prevent them from saving any and all changes to the laptop. They have local administrative rights, but when the laptop is rebooted, it is like they never logged in. Therefore, Apple Software Updates are useless and really undesirable. They'll be downloading the same updates everyday. They can turn DeepFreeze off and run the updates, but this will not be on a scheduled basis. Is there a way through Workgroup Manager that I can disable the updates for the student group?

We turn that off in system preferences for each local account. I even build a DEFAULT template with it turned off. It works fine until we image the machine. Any new machine with that image, the Apple updates, Bluetooth are turned back on!!!
How do you keep them turned off after a restore? The original machine with the master image still works. they only turn back on after using the image of the master. Very annoying that every app on a mac has to search for updates all the time, then multiply that times a 1000 machines and a 15m internet connection. Do the math.
if anyone knows how to KEEP the settings after a restore, let me know.

Why does Mozilla do this, force people to use an inferior video player without asking or at least showing how to use Flash Player. I'm only here because Firefox was updated.
