How to Disable Transparency in Menu Bar and Tabs

I have Firefox 35 installed on a Windows 8 pc. When Firefox last updated about a month ago, I think it went from about version 31 to the current 35. When this happened, all of my Inactive Tabs and the Menu Bar went completely transparent so I could not see what sites were in my Inactive Tabs and I could not even see the Min/Max/Close Window options at the top-right.
On the Windows 8 pc (my primary pc):
- I only had a couple Extensions installed: Colorzilla, LastPass, WOT
- I had only the Default Theme and 2 other Themes.
The Active Tab, Bookmarks Toolbar, & the URL still display fine with the default background color. I already tried using the Refresh Firefox tool. It removed my couple of Extensions & Themes, but the only other thing that changed is that now my Inactive Tabs are completely black instead of transparent so I still cannot see what sites they have open. The Menu Bar is still transparent.
I attached a screenshot. You can see the Black Inactive Tabs. I don't know if you can tell, but the Menu Bar is transparent.
I can't even use Firefox like this. Any ideas how to fix this?
FYI, I also have Firefox on a Windows 7 pc and it had no Extensions and no Themes installed at all and the same thing happened with the recent update. I tried the Refresh Firefox on this one and got the same exact result so it does not appear to be a Windows 8 issue.

I have not customized anything. All my other browsers are fine, it is only Firefox that has this issue and it's on 2 different pc's.
I have tried using the default theme and even downloaded, enabled, & disabled 3-4 other themes and none of them effect the transparency or the blacked out tabs.

  • How to Make Fonts Bigger in Safari Menu Bar and Tabs

    Hello,
    I just set up a new IMAC 27" for my mom and she cannot read the menu bars and tabs in Safari. I know how to make the text of the webpage itself bigger, but is there any way to make the text in the menu bars and tabs bigger.  Someone sugggested Opera browser. Would that be a better option?
    Thanks
    John

    Welcome!
    I had the same issue with my 27-inch--here's how I fixed it:
    1) Go to System Preferences > Displays and select the "Displays" tab
    2) For "Resolution" there are two buttons: "Best for Display" and "Scaled." Select "Scaled."
    3) Now you should see a list of resolutions. The default is probably 2560x1440. Change it to 1920x1080.
    I don't have great eyes but this setting makes it easy for me to see. It makes all menu bars including Safari about 3/10ths inch wide and the menu lettering close to 1/4-inch tall.

  • I cannot enlarge the font size of my menu bars and tabs I tried using a recommended add on with no success, can you help me please?

    I was able to enlarge the fonts of menu bars and tabs in my previous version of firefox, I'm unable to resolve this on my own with firefox 4

    Did you try this extension?
    * Theme Font & Size Changer: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/theme-font-size-changer/
    You can use one of these extensions to adjust the default font size and page zoom on web pages:
    * Default FullZoom Level - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/default-fullzoom-level/
    * NoSquint - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/nosquint/

  • How do I put my menu bar and address bar back at the top?

    I closed my menu bar and address bar, etc. Now I can get them back I even tried reinstalling Firefox and that didn't work. Opposite clicking the top of the page doesn't work, either. HELP!
    == This happened ==
    Just once or twice
    == When I temporarily turned off my bars.

    Hit the '''Alt''' key to show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar, so it has a check-mark.

  • On Firefox Nightly (64bit) full-screen is not full-screen. Menu bar and tabs appear above the full-screen.

    I'm running Debian Testing (Jessie) with a 3.15-10.dmz.1-liquorix-amd64 kernel. I'm running Mozilla Nightly 34.0a1. All is well except in full-screen mode. The problem is present whether running a video using the Flashplayer or HTML5. When playing a video and selecting "Full-screen mode" Firefox goes into full-screen as usual, except... the tab bar appears above the so-called "full" screen and so does the navigation/search bar which appears just below the tab bar and just above the video itself.
    I can make this problem disappear by creating a new profile which is basically a "blank slate" (nothing added). I can show you a screen-shot if you wish to see the non-full-screen yourselves.

    Hi dsiddens
    You can right-click empty space on the Tab bar or Navigation Toolbar to open the toolbar context menu and set a tick on "Hide Toolbars".

  • Asian words poping up on the Menu Bar and Tabs on Firefox Why?

    Have you checked our known issues page? If your issue is not there, please provide a detailed description here:
    Yes this has been happening to me only on Firefox. I have used Malwarebytes Anti-malware(it stops a lot this software) to protect from this. But it is still occurring! I have McAfee as my principle anti-virus and us also a very good malware called Trojan Killer this operates in the background like Malwarebytes Anti-malware. And monthly or bi-weekly I download the new version of Adwcleaner which cleans crap out of everything, registry, malware ads, popup ads etc. So why this is happening with the Asian Lettering is baffling it is on Windows 7 as my OS. It is also annoying too you can not tell what the tabs are on the menu of Firefox, the Asian words cover or distort the screen!!!!
    If I rebot the computer it will be gone for a couple of hours and then slowly come back on Firefox's tabs!
    Any Ideas?????

    hi, some other affected users tied the issue to the mcafee site advisor extension - please try to disable or remove that in case you have it present.

  • Ever since I updated to OSX 10.9.3 the menu bar and dock keep hiding. How can I disable this?

    I updated to OSX 10.9.3 and now the top menu bars and the dock always hide. I always have to click at the top to get them to show again. I wan't to see them all the time as before. Any solutions? Btw. my automatically hide and show dock option from the dock options menu is disabled, but everything keeps hiding.

    They hide when you use an App in Full Screen mode
    Go to the top of the display and force the menu bar to be revealed and click on the blue full screen icon, to take it out if that mode

  • All type in my menu bar and under icons has disappeared how do I get it back?

    I lost all type in my menu bar and in drop down menus as well as under icons and next to icons in the hard drive menu. The dashboard also doesn't pop up when the curser goes over it. How do I get the type back?

    Do any fonts work or show up at all in any application?
    Have you installed any new Fonts or Adobe/MS Apps?
    See if you can run Font Book in Applications, verify Fonts & check for duplicates.

  • How to increase size of fonts in Menu bar and in Safari toolbar?

    How to increase size of fonts in Menu bar and in Safari toolbar?  Munu bar and Safari toolbar  fonts too small on a 24" iMac screen.
    Thanks in advance !

    If you want to change the size of the font of a TextEdit text document, you do it in the preferences. Alternatively, if you want control over the size of the fonts, make it a Rich Text document, and then you can change the font size. You can either use the Larger or Smaller options, or Show Fonts to choose a size. You can elect to have new documents be Rich Text in the preferences as well.

  • How do I disable transparency for the menubar and addressbar in firefox?

    How do I disable transparency for the menubar and addressbar in firefox? (This does not mean disable windows aero or transparency in windows 7. A workaround has been posted. Stop spamming threads with disable transparency and aero everytime someone asks about this.)
    It is difficult to read.
    Edit:
    Is there a setting to tone down the Aero usage of the in Firefox 5 so it looks more like Firefox 3.6. Is there a way to do this in the preferences or inside about:config?
    I know what Aero is and how to turn it off.
    The 2nd reply has images attached show why it is difficult to read. An light spot on a desktop background or an icon can make it very difficult to read. This is the #1 reason why I keep going back to 3.6.

    If you are up to tweaking some CSS code in a style see
    "Color Toolbar(s) to identify profile (DM*)" -- in http://userstyles.org/styles/9514, and you must read all of the description material understand what has to be done.
    It is a style, and playing with the code is what styles are about. You will have to copy the section of code in the description to the bottom of the style for it to be complete to remove additional Aero effects, and choose two or three colors for the toolbars.

  • Can anyone tell me how to increase the text size in my menu bar and drop down menus?

    Just bought a new 27" screen iMac.  The menu bar and drop down menu text is much to small for me to see without leaning close to the screen.  Does anyone know how to customize the text to a larger size.  This is an issue for any program I open.

    Once upon a time Apple displays packed in 72 dots to an inch (making their resolution 72 DPI). That meant that what we saw on screen at 100% scale was exactly what was printed on a printer - not to mention quite comfortable to read. However that advantage was eclipsed by the fact that photopgraphs and video were pixelated and the only solution to that was to increase the resolution - to pack in more dots per inch - which has the side effect of shrinking the size of text. Where I once used Word at 100% scale I now find it most comfortable at 150% scale.
    There are several solutions. One, as Lex gave you, was to reduce the resolution of the LCD display. But unlike CRT displays, an LCD is tuned to a specific resolution and when you change it the results tend to be blurry. Another is to keep the resolution as it is and to adjust each program (if the program allows it). This makes Word usable and your browser can be set to use no font smaller than a size you set (which has some unpleasant side affects at some Web sites), but some programs and some parts of programs cannot be changed. The menubar and menus are among them. The third solution is one that Apple promised several years ago but has not yet provided - a resolution independant GUI. We can only hope that comes soon. And there's another partial solution - look in System Preferences under Accessibility.

  • When I maximize my screen on my Mac it hides the menu bar and the typed tool bar at the top of the screen - how do i fix this

    When I maximize the screen on my Mac Book Pro it hides the menu bar and the typed tool bar at the top of the screen as well.  How do I undo this?

    10.7 "Full Screen" is a feature imported from IOS, the land of tiny screens.
    To use a larger window on a REAL computer, adjust the Window's size to suit your needs. Do not use "Full Screen".

    When I use Firefox without menu bar I can see bookmarks. How ever when I activate menu bar the bookmark is missing from toolbar. I tried opening in safe mode and resetting toolbar but it didn't fix the issue. I am using version 7.0

    Do you mean the Bookmarks Menu button on the Navigation Toolbar?
    You only see that button if the menu bar is hidden.
