How to disable vanishing of URL bar on scrolling?

In Firefox/Android Beta (not in the release version) the URL bar vanishes as soon as I scroll down a page. It reappears on scrolling up. How can I fix this? The bar should remain at its place in every situation.

Found it myself:
in about:config, the value for "browser.chrome.dynamictoolbar" has to be set to "false". It defaults to "true".

• FF 29 - How to merge tabs alongside URL bar

Hi,
First, thanks for the nice update. FF 29 feels smoother to me, and faster. However, I miss the extra browsing space I had in FF 28 by merging the tabs to the right of the URL bar. Having such a huge URL bar is a waste of space.
Also, is there any way to get tabs that don't match the color of their respective bar? (blue tabs, blue bar, grey tabs, gray bar after clicking "title" in customize).
Thanks for any help.

Hello,
# [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/ Install Classic Theme Restorer] and restart Firefox when prompted.
# Open the Add-ons Manager (Ctrl+Shift+A; Mac: Command+Shift+A), then the Extensions category.
# Next to Classic Theme Restorer, click the Options button.
# On the Main tab, set the following, then close the options window when done.
#* Tabs: Curved tabs (alternative)
#* Application button: Button disabled
#* General UI: Movable Back/Forward button
# Right-click an empty area of the tab bar and choose Customize.
# Drag the Back/Forward button, the address bar, the ≡ Menu Button and whatever other items you're interested in onto the tab bar.
# Drag all unwanted items off the navigation toolbar onto the customization palette.
# Open the Add-ons Manager (Ctrl+Shift+A; Mac: Command+Shift+A), then the Extensions category.
# Next to Classic Theme Restorer, click the Options button.
# On the Main tab, set the following, then close the options window when done.

• How can I display the URL bar and bookmarks bar when I have the addons page opened?

It seems counter-intuitive to me that the Firefox addons page does not have the same toolbars that other tabs have, and I have not found an option to add them back in (or an addon to fix it). Instead of being able to enter a URL directly from the addons page or click a bookmark, I must navigate away from the tab before I can go anywhere else. Additionally, it graphically looks out of place when I shift through tabs and most of the toolbars disappear for a second as I move over the addons tab.
Some other utilities that use their own pages manage to preserve the toolbar customization without removing it completely, so I'm wondering if there's a way for the addons page to do it as well.
An example of another utility that has its own page without removing the toolbars is the Download Manager Tweak addon. One of its options allows the user to open their download page as a tab, which also contains the toolbar customization of normal, browser tabs.
Thanks in advance!

Just for reference:
The solution to press a hotkey to move the text focus to a hidden navigation item (e.g. the URL bar or the search bar) was only a temporary fix, and only worked for Ctrl+K (search bar, maybe ctrl+E too but I didn't test it).
The problem didn't really bug me all too much until tonight, so I installed the Stylish script from the StackOverflow link above and the problem is solved now.

• How do I get my url bar to show the websites I visited before? I did not clean my history or anything. Nothing shows anymore.

Hey! I have restarted my computer during the night and this morning, when I opened firefox, the sites I visited before were not showing anymore in my url bar. I did not reset any history or anything. After visiting them too, they don't seem to save in my url bar (they still don't show after I visited them). All my url bar is showing are "suggestions".
Please help, thanks :)

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

• How to Disable Transparency in Menu Bar and Tabs

I have Firefox 35 installed on a Windows 8 pc. When Firefox last updated about a month ago, I think it went from about version 31 to the current 35. When this happened, all of my Inactive Tabs and the Menu Bar went completely transparent so I could not see what sites were in my Inactive Tabs and I could not even see the Min/Max/Close Window options at the top-right.
On the Windows 8 pc (my primary pc):
- I only had a couple Extensions installed: Colorzilla, LastPass, WOT
- I had only the Default Theme and 2 other Themes.
The Active Tab, Bookmarks Toolbar, & the URL still display fine with the default background color. I already tried using the Refresh Firefox tool. It removed my couple of Extensions & Themes, but the only other thing that changed is that now my Inactive Tabs are completely black instead of transparent so I still cannot see what sites they have open. The Menu Bar is still transparent.
I attached a screenshot. You can see the Black Inactive Tabs. I don't know if you can tell, but the Menu Bar is transparent.
I can't even use Firefox like this. Any ideas how to fix this?
FYI, I also have Firefox on a Windows 7 pc and it had no Extensions and no Themes installed at all and the same thing happened with the recent update. I tried the Refresh Firefox on this one and got the same exact result so it does not appear to be a Windows 8 issue.

I have not customized anything. All my other browsers are fine, it is only Firefox that has this issue and it's on 2 different pc's.
I have tried using the default theme and even downloaded, enabled, & disabled 3-4 other themes and none of them effect the transparency or the blacked out tabs.

• How to disable annoying "Restart" popup bar reminder after firefox is updated?

When firefox gets updated, this annoying reminder bar keeps popping up asking me to restart the browser. I don't want to restart my browser! Stop asking me that! Whenever I close this popup bar, it soon raises up again. How do I disable it?

No, it's gone after restart but the point is that 1. I don't want to restart the browser 2. I don't want the reminder to be that annoying. If Firefox really can't keep working after update, developers could have forced the restart. Otherwise, why do they allow this popup to be closed (X button on the right)? If they don't want user to miss this notification, they could have shown it as a modal message box. Behaviour of this popup suggests that restart is optional. Also, it's very logical that if I closed this bar once, it means that I've acknowledged the notification and I don't need to be told about that again. From my user point of view this looks like a bug. Popup bar should not appear again after it was manually closed.

• How to reduce clutter in URL bar?

How do I reduce the "HTTPS-enabled" indicator to a simple green padlock - instead of padlock plus "Mozilla Foundation (US)" text?

You can use a custom style rule to suppress the text associated with the icon. This old thread has one approach (there may be others):

• How do I stop the tab bar from scrolling to the left whenever I open a new tab? It's a constant distraction

If I have more than a single tab bar of tabs open whenever I open a new one the tab I'm currently on is shifted to the left of the bar 1 spot until it's the leftmost tab on the screen.
Is it possible to stop firefox from doing this as the movement of the tabs at the top of the screen is incredibly distracting?

I don't have multiple tab bars and haven't installed anything to try and get them.
I re-read what I wrote earlier and realised it's not worded clearly when I said: If I have more than a single tab bar of tabs open
I meant: When I have so many tabs open that they won't all fit into the tab bar at once

• How to disable the URL bar from receiving focus after a page click

When I click on any link within a webpage, the new webpage will load up. I start hitting the UP and DOWN arrows to start scrolling through the page. But Firefox has stolen the focus from the webpage and given it to the URL bar. So I start to see URL history popup in a drop down list from above.
This is very annoying.
Is there a way for the URL address bar from stealing the focus, and just display the current page's URL?

• How can I get rid of by back/foward buttons and move my url bar to the right of my tabs, as I had in the previous version of firefox?

Before I updated Firefox, my tabs were on the same line as the search/url bar, and I didn't have the back/forward buttons. I liked the simple design I had, but now it doesn't seem like I can go back to that setting.

There is an extension which gives you a lot of control over your toolbar layout. It is described and linked in this article: [[How to make the new Firefox look like the old Firefox]]. Can you get the result you're looking for?

• How do I get my address bar back? If I type in the URL of a website I need to navigate to, instead Mozilla is doing a Google Search and giving those results. How do I get the address bar back?

My address bar where I type in the URL has disappeared. I've searched through Help options, and found only one piece of moderately useful information (following) in Menu Reference. It is: "Open Location… Focuses on the Firefox URL bar so you can type in a new location to visit." However, Open Location is not included as a menu item in the File Tab in my Mozilla dropdown menu. I am not in Full Screen mode so that is not the problem! I think this may have happened last night when I went into Tools, then chose Options. I had been looking around to find out how to set up multiple tabs to open at Start-Up. Both Internet Explorer and Chrome have that option, and it's an important option to me. Firefox apparently does not over that feature, unfortunately. After looking through all the tab choices under Tools - Options, I went to the View menu, and chose Customize. I tried to add the Flexible Space icon, and it ended up being a mess so I had to remove those. The only thing I can think of is that it may have happened then, but I am not sure. I need my Address Bar back so that I can type in the URLS and just go to the websites.

Open Firefox -> Go to View -> Toolbars -> Chechmark on "Navigation Toolbar"
this will bring back your address bar (where you type links to go to websites :P )

• How to delete the history shown in the URL bar?

I just deleted the Browsing history to get rid of all the very old suggestions the URL makes.
It doesnt help.
The URL bar shows automatically even pages I havent visited for a year.
I think there is a lot of old stuff accumulating I want to get rid of.
So, how to delete the browsing history so that also that naggy URL bar starts with a clear slate?

I don't know if this is the same thing, but I had the problem of clearing my history and the location bar would show URL's that I hadn't gone to in a long time. I think most of them had the yellow star to the right of the address which was supposed to mean they were bookmarks. However, I had never bookmarked these sites. My solution was to go to Bookmarks->Organize Bookmarks. Expand "Bookmarks Menu" on the left side and go to "Recently Bookmarked". In there I deleted everything that I didn't want as a bookmark. Now the sites no longer show up in the location bar. Hope that helps for you or someone.

• How can we open a new instance of Firefox without URL bar and any other control (except PREV, NEXT and RELOAD)?

Dear Volunteers,
I am looking for a solution for Firefox Win App and Mobile Apps where on click of a button from the website page, we should be able to launch a new instance of firefox instance (like a popup box) with following features:
a. It SHOULD NOT have any URL bar to display.
b. It SHOULD NOT show any plug-ins or any other functionality except Previous, Next and Reload.
c. This instance of firefox should always be on-top of all other application.
Please advise, how firefox can be customized to offer in all platforms by default.
With lot of hope from this volunteer community,
Rajiv

You would need your visitors to install some kind of add-on, since web pages do not have permission to block the display of the page address and users do not need to allow a new window to be modal and block other Firefox windows, much less other OS windows.
Over the years, people have developed extensions for kiosk-style displays. You could investigate those for ideas.
