How to disable Wacom pen tilt in CS5?

Hello all,
Does anyone know where the option is to turn off / disable the pen tilt in Photoshop?  Sometimes I want it active and sometimes I don't.  I have Photoshop CS5 and an Intuos4.  I have tried searching the forums and the web but I can't seem to find any information on doing this.
Thanks in advance!

Hi
I know this is a fairly old thread, but did you find a solution for this? It's driving me nuts too. I've found that if the pen is kept away from our Intuous4 for several minutes, and all the tilt settings are switched off, it works fine when the pen is returned. Swap the pen over to eraser and then back to normal way up and the tilt starts being detected. I've looked through all the Wacom & PS settings and everything to do with tilt is disabled, in complete conflict with what I can see on screen when I'm drawing.
Here's a quick image to demonstrate what I'm experiencing:
The first line was using the mouse, the second line was done with the wacom pen (after it had been well away from the tablet for several minutes). The brush animation simply showed pressure at this point. I turned the pen over, used the eraser then swapped back and drew the third line, but this time the animation showed lots of tilt (as shown in the left panel), and you can see the brush effect is very different.
Any help muchly appreciated
Chris

  • Wacom pen malfunction in CS5 & Lightroom3

I've been using a Wacom Intuos 3 pen without any problems in CS3 and Lightroom2. Now, I can't seem to make the pen responsive at times (most of the time). I've uninstalled old Wacom drivers and installed the latest, repaired permissions, restarted the computer. As the pen seems to otherwise work fine, it must be an Adobe issue. Does anyone know a solution?
    Sarah

I have been having a problem, too, with my Intuos 2 using CS5. The polygonal lasso tool doesn't work right. A click seems to do nothing, a second click reveals the first click's point, a third click reveals the second click's point (thus the first line finally appears). It often closes the selection loop on its own. If not, you have to double click, which deselects everything, then Undo to return the selection. Basically, polygonal lasso is unusable in CS5 using my tablet.

  • How long has wacom pen support been broken for.

I remember that 6 months ago, resizing and pen support on wacom tablets using windows 8 was broken and lagged like crazy unless you turned off window ink, which means you lose pressure sensitivity. 6 months later I find out this is still the case. Are you guys for real?
Is there any intention of ever fixing this before we remove our photoshop software for something that actually works.
Before you go blaming Wacom and other tablet makers again, or telling people pointless stuff like checking if there's dust in their pen. Wacom said this has nothing to do with their tablet or driver. And I can confirm this, because only PS has broken wacom support.

    Just a clarification in general:

  • How to disable upgrade message in DW CS5?

Whenever I open one of my project folders, I get a flash of a message coming up which is too quick to read.  It's only started happening recently, since I had a problem with cache recreate.
I haven't managed to see the whole of the message but did grab a bit of it using PrtScn and it reads:
    "Upgrade to Dreamweaver CS5.5
    A must-have release with new CSS3.HTML"
Does anyone know how to stop this message from appearing?
    Thanks

Hi SnakEyez02 and thanks again for getting back to me.
It was neither of the ways shown in your links.  As I'm new to all this, I've been doing quite a bit of testing with contact forms, light boxes etc.  These were set up as individual 'sites' on DW, although none were ever live.  I had quite a few folders like this so decided to put them all into one folder called DW-Testing.  The first folder went in ok (ContactTest), the second (LightboxTest)gave me the message:
"The root folder you have chosen is the same as the folder for site 'ContactTest'. This may cause some operations, such as synchronization, to work incorrectly. Proceed anyway?".
As they were just test sites, I decided to see what happened and ok'd it.  Unfortunately, neither worked after the move so I tried to move LightboxTest back to my desktop.  I got the message:
"The cache will now be recreated because the name, root folder, HTTP address of cloaking settings of the site have been changed."
I ok'd this and watched in horror as DW whizzed through 500+ files!!  I tried to escape out of it, but couldn't.
When it had finished, I opened DW and found that LightboxTest was now a top level folder for literally everything on my desktop.  Below is a example of what I can see in Files Panel:
TOP LEVEL: Site - Lightbox Test (C:/Users/myName/Desktop)
Sub folder: Spotify.lnk (link to a music player)
Sub folder: Lytebox Test (this is one of my test folders)
Sub folder: Fancybox Test (this is one of test folders)
Sub folder: Scanner (a folder containing my scanner software)
Sub folder: EOS 40D (a folder contain my camera software)
Sub folder: IsoBuster.lnk (link to software)
If I delete a .lnk it removes it from my desktop.  If I put anything on my desktop, it appears in the Files Panel.
I did everything through DW using Site > Manage Sites > select the site > Edit and then changed the path from
    C:/Users/myName/Desktop to C:/Users/myName/Desktop/DW-Testing.
Any advice or guidance you can give as to what happened, and why would be much appreciated; along with how to stop the messages from appearing.
    Thanks again.

  • How to disable automatic font embedding in CS5?

I installed CS5 and opened an old .fla which did not embed the Arial font because everyone has it already. Mostly it is used for user-entered and dynamic content.  However, CS5 is auto-embedding the few characters I use in Arial, and all of the other characters are no longer showing up in the swf file.  The only fix seems to be embedding the entire Arial font in the movie, which is too large since I want to be able to support all kinds of characters.
Is there a way to turn off auto-font embedding?  This feature seems well-intentioned but critically flawed if it can't be turned off.
    -Ben

    Hi,
You can set the TextField's Anti-alias setting to "Use device fonts" if you don't want to embed the font.

@Naiks, having suffered through unsuccessful synching attempts for Calendar and Contacts myself, l would suggest you try the following:
UNINSTALL iCloud control panel from your PC. Seems silly, but do it.
Go into Outlook, and look at the very top menu. Click FILE, then ACCOUNT SETTINGS, then click the popup box.
You will see a list of all your email accounts. Make sure that ONE of them has a checkmark against it. If not, select the account your want as your default, and click "set as default.
Exit out of Outlook and reboot your machine.
Now reinstall iCloud, check CALENDAR and CONTACTS, and do as instructed when prompted.
Reboot for good luck and now launch OUTLOOK. All that remains is to locate your iCloud Contacts and Calendar files, and make them your default.
IMPORTANT: Don't panic if you can't find your contacts -- they're there. Click CONTACTS and you'll see you have several available contact files. Locate the one label "iCloud" in grey type. Right-click on it, select PROPERTIES, then click the Outlook Address Book tab. Check the box that says something like "Make this my default Outlook Address Book." Keep clicking "apply" and "okay" until you've exited out of the dialog box maze.
You may have to do something similar with your Calendar files. I dd not, but if you need to, do it.
Everything should now sync pretty seamlessly.
I didn't have the exact same problem as you, but my dilemma was close enough. Good luck!

  • Pen Tilt for Size Dynamics - not working.

I am using Photoshop CS and a Wacom Intuos3 with updated drivers.  (6.1.3-5)
Using Photoshop's brush tool dynamics, I set Size Dynamics to pen tilt - not pressure - yet the pen's pressure still exclusively aff
ects the brush size when drawing.
I would like to have the tilt of the pen control the brush Size, much like using a blunt end of a pencil vs. the sharp tip.
In a separate test, I set the brush Opacity dynamics to pen tilt, and it worked as expected: a near full opacity with a vertical pen
, and almost no opacity with a highly tilted pen. Pressure had no effect, as specified. So, the tilt functionality of the pen defini
    tely works.
How can I resolve this issue and get the Wacom pen's Tilt to affect Photoshop's Brush Size Dynamics?

This is a known issue that has plagued PS for many interations. The team has to re-write the code and is not sure when the problem will be corrected so that it will be fully functional. Don't hold your breath for CS5.
There is a really long thread on this.

  • Bridge stops responding to Wacom pen clicks in Windows 8

When I use Adobe Bridge with the Wacom pen (Intuos 5) the first one or two clicks work but then the program stops responding to any pen clicks until I move the mouse or touch the touchpad, and then all the unresponsive clicks are played back at once. This problem first appeared with Bridge in CS5. I then upgraded to CS6 hoping it would go away, but it didn't. And now I've downloaded the new CC version of Bridge and it does the same thing. The pen works erratically in other Adobe programs as well but the malfunction is most obvious and happens consistently in Bridge. All Microsoft programs (Office 2010, Outlook, Internet Explorer, and Windows 8 itself) work fine with the Wacom pen.
I've searched the Adobe and Wacom support forums and this problem does not appear to be affecting anyone else; although, I did find these two posts by people with similar problems:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5359741
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5262754
I've talked to Wacom tech support and tried all of the troubleshooting steps they could think of, including going back to earlier versions of the Intuos driver. They released a new Windows 8 driver yesterday (6.36) but it did not solve my problem.
Since I use a Logitech mouse, I've tried updating, going back to earlier versions, and completely uninstalling the Logitech drivers but the problem did not go away. I've also uninstalled, cleaned settings, and reinstalled the Adobe apps several times with no change.
This morning I tried disabling all non-Microsoft services and all non-essential startup programs on reboot but it made no difference.
One clue I've noticed that might help Adobe engineers figure this mystery out is that when I click on the little triangles to expand the metadata in the panel (with my first pen click as that's the only one which registers) they will highlight but not rotate and the panel never expands (see pictures below). This is a unique behavior which I can not replicate with my mouse. If someone can identify what would make the triangles respond in this way we might be onto what message the program is getting when I click with the pen.

Shut down all unnecessary programs running in the background.  Does Win 8 still use the ctrl alt delete for the Task Manager?
I did as you suggested and tried shutting down other running programs with Task Manager (Ctrl-Shift-Tab in Windows 8) but nothing changed in Bridge's response to pen clicks.
Then I used msconfig to turn off all non-essential system services and programs by doing what it calls a "Diagnostic Startup". Upon reboot only the minumal Windows drivers and services were running. Not even the Wacom driver was loaded, although the pen still worked using the Microsoft pen driver. I oppened Bridge, and guess what, exact same problem. One click and then the program locks up. And this is with absolutely nothing else running, no sound, no network, no other programs, and only the minimal set of Microsoft drivers.
So I figure that the only thing that's left for me to investigate is the Microsoft "Pen and Touch" settings in Control Panel. I open that and see three pen actions: Single-tap, Double-tap and a thing called "Press and hold" which is turned off. I turn it on and test Bridge. Bingo! it works. Pen clicks now register normally.
If I hold the pen down for a second, however, a right click is triggered. This is what "Press and hold" is supposed to do. But if I go back to Control Panel and turn "Press and hold" off, then Bridge locks up on normal pen clicks. It's like Bridge is interpreting every click as a click-and-hold but is unable to follow thorugh if the setting is turned off in the "Pen and Touch" control panel.
I've found no other program on my computer that does this but Bridge, and all version of Bridge from CS5 through CC do the exact same thing. A very strange bug indeed! But now I have a solution: turn on "Press and hold" in the "Pen and Touch" applet in Windows 8 Control Panel.

  • Disable tablet pen pressure for eraser tool in PSE 10?

Hi, I recently bought PSE 10.
I have an Intuos 3 Wacom tablet and whenever I switch to the Eraser tool, in the brush preview icon (top left corner) I see this ~ type of a shape with narrow-pointy edges, indicating that the size-pen-pressure feature is on.
This is always true, even when I switch off all the per-pressure options via the Brush tool.
Can anyone hint how to control or at-least disable the pen-pressure feature while in the Eraser tool?
    Thank you.

One way would be to use the Basic Brushes which are not set for any pressure functions by default.
Or if you need a special brush you could save the brush without any pressure settings with the brush tool selected
and those settings should carry over for the eraser tool.
Also, you can set the mode to clear with the brush tool and that will act like the eraser tool set on the brush mode.

  • PS CS3 responding to Pen Pressure instead of Pen Tilt, Cintiq 21ux

    Hi,
I'm using a cintiq 21ux with PS CS3. When I choose to have brush size controlled by pen tilt, it instead responds to pen pressure (but still lists the control as pen tilt). Corel does recognize pen tilt appropriately, however. Is there a problem with Photoshop or my tablet, and how can I fix this?
    Thanks,
    CW

Just had this issue with the latest drivers from Wacom (6.3.11-4a) and my old Intuos 3 and found a solution.
It seems any time Wacom updates their drivers, it breaks pressure sensitivity in a random adobe application. This has been happening since.. well.. forever. Wacom and Adobe need to get their **** together.
I fixed my issue by installing an older wacom legacy driver (6.1.7-3). I didn't try any other versions, this one just happened to work for me. You might need to try multiple older versions.
    Legacy Drivers | Wacom
    My Steps:
    - Download an older legacy driver (6.1.7-3 worked for me)
    - Unplug your tablet USB
    - Uninstall your wacom driver
    - Restart
    - Install the old driver
    - Plug in your tablet and let windows do its thing
    - Pressure sensitivity should be working now
I was also having issues with the color picker in Flash CC taking a while to load when using the tablet. That seems to have been fixed as well.
    Hope this helps!

  • Spot Removal Tool w. Click & Drag & Wacom Pen not showing area painted over until pen released

SOLUTION found a few minutes after I posted this!
Went into Wacom Tablet Properties and adjusted Tip Feel to Soft and Tilt Sensitivity to High.
I am having the following issue in LR 5 using Wacom Intuos 3 pen (Win 7 Pro, 16 GB RAM, Nvidia GTX760, i7 3820 3.6 processor):
When using the Wacom pen to click and drag to heal a spot, the area I draw does not show the path (doesn't paint white) while I am drawing it. Only after I have drawn the area to clone/heal and released the pen does it show.  Click & drag works fine with a regular mouse and with the Wacom mouse.  I have penflicks turned off in Windows.
Anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions?

    Hi,
Many thanks for this tip. I'd actually abandoned using my wacom pen&touch when using any of the adjustments (graduated filter, spot and brush) because of lag etc.
I don't have the tilt sensitivity on my tablet, but ajdusting the tip feel made a major improvement. ... the mouse still works better though.
I actually wonder just how many of the 'lag issues' being experienced are actually about mouse/tablet interaction.
When I quit lightroom, my tablet seizes up for about 20 seconds - seems like a driver reloading or something.
