How to Disable wireless on my Express?

I'm in the process of setting up a Sonos sound system in the house. Need to disable wireless on my ape. Running lates software/IOS.
Don't seem to find the previous option to disable the wireless net on my ape?

What version of AirPort Utility are you using to configure the AirPort Express?
If you are not sure, click the AirPort Utility menu in the upper left corner of the screen.
Then click About AirPort Utility to find the info.

  • How to disable wireless on wrt54g2?

I have a Linksys router model wrt54g2 v1. My operating system is Windows XP Pro. The router works fine. When I ran setup the first time, I opted to enable wireless (Wi-Fi). However, the computers using the router are all cable-connected to the router, so I do not need the wireless capability. My question: How do I now disable wireless? Do I need to run the CD “Start Setup” process once again? The control panel does not seem to offer any configuration options. I have posted a screen capture of the control panel at http://64.33.7.192/linksys.gif. (I tried without success to post this question at the support Live Chat.) Thanks for your help.

    What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again.
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
    Clear all browser caches.
Be sure to log into the Admin account on the router.
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
    Uncheck these:

  • How to disable wireless function in HP printers

We are campus environment, and have hundreds of HP printers deployed.  All of them are connected to the network via TP cables.  However, their wireless components are still up, and broadcast under SSID hpsetup, which are detected by our new campus wireless network as rogue AP or adhoc.  We want to disable the wireless component inside all HP printers, but find no instructions as how to get this done from HP manuals.  Is there anyone knowing how to disable the wireless function in HP printers?  Thanks in advance for your help.

It varies based on model, but often it is found in: Setup > Network > Wireless Radio on/off

  • How to extend wireless with airport express and time capsule

So, I have a time capsule & because of the thick walls in my apartment, I can barely use my ipad and iphone at night in my bedroom! (my macbookPRO stays at 3 bars however!)
I bought an airport express thinking I could plug it closer to or inside my bedroom to boost the signal - but it doesn't seem to work that way - any tips on how to set this up?
    TWO ADDITIONAL Qs:
Does connecting directly to my time capsule (which i'm assuming i'd need another ethernet cable) help with the boost? (then negates the other great uses for the airport express it seems)
Isn't there a way to do the boost with the express wirelessly? I'd really love to get wireless speakers, use airplay AND be able to use my devices just two rooms away ....   HELP!
thanks so much (when did apple phone support start to be closed on Sundays?)
    cheers.

Suggest that you check your setup again to make sure that the settings are correct on both the Time Capsule and AirPort Express.
Open AirPort Utility, select the Time Capsule and click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab below the row of icons
Make sure that a check mark is entered next to "Allow this network to be extended".( If the box is not checked, the Time Capsule will not extend to the AirPort Express)
Click Update to save your settings and close AirPort Utility
Next, open AirPort Utility again, select the AirPort Express and click Manual Setup
    Click the Wireless tab
    Settings should look like this:
Wireless Mode = Extend a wireless network
Wireless Network Name = Same name as the Time Capsule network
Check mark entered next to "Allow wireless clients"
Wireless Security = Same setting as the Time Capsule
Wireless Password = Same password as the Time Capsule network
    Confirm Password
Update to save settings and close AirPort Utility
Locate the AirPort Express approximately half way between the Time Capsule and area that needs more wireless coverage. You may need to experiment on placement to find the best compomise.
    Post back on your results.

  • WRT54G: How to disable wireless upon reset

Hello everyone. I have a two-part question as follows:
Part 1: has anyone ever had a problem with a WRT54G router "forgetting" its settings and reverting to the defaults even though you did not press the Reset button? I have had two different people tell me that they configured wireless security but then after several weeks/months the security settings "vanished" and their wireless network was open with no encryption. Is it possible that a brownout or extended blackout could cause this?
Part 2: due to the possibility of this happening, does anyone know how to configure this device so that if it IS reset (i.e. pressing the reset button or anything else that causes a reset), the wireless radio will be disabled until a user MANUALLY logs in via a wired connection and turns it on, or presses the easy setup button? This would prevent a LOT of security problems where people just don't know any better and plug up the router without configuring the security properly. I think linksys should build this option into their firmware: disable the wireless radio until it is manually turned on by either logging into the configuration page or pressing the easy setup button on the front.
I assume that to accomplish part 2, I need a third-party firmware for the router. Any recommendations on which firmware would leave the wireless off by default when reset?
I would be purchasing a new WRT54G for this application, and it would probably be version 8.
Would another router model be better than the WRT54G?
This is for a small business, and I can't take the risk that the wireless network should become unsecured without anyone's knowledge, maybe due to power outage/brownout/firmware bug/etc...
Thank you so much in advance for any advice!

    1)  Routers seem to be sensitive to electrical surges and noise.  Electrical surges and noise are common with power outages, and can also be caused by such things as large motors starting up, or malfunctioning electrical equipment.   Electrical surges and noise can cause routers to loose their settings.
You should keep your router plugged into a high quality surge suppressor with EMI/RFI filtering, such as the Belkin SurgeMaster Gold Series. A surge suppressor alone is not enough because surge suppression does not start until the voltage exceeds 330 volts.  You must have the EMI/RFI filtering.   Alternatively, most UPS devices have both surge suppression and EMI/RFI filtering.
If your router has forgotten its settings, then you should also download and install (or re-install) the latest firmware.  After the firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch.  If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
If the above does not prevent your router from "forgetting" its settings, then the router is malfunctioning, and it should be replaced. A router that forgets its settings is not secure.
    2)  I do not know of any way to cause the wireless portion of the router to be turned off when the router resets.   In my opinion, this is a security problem, and I agree that it should be fixed.
    3)  Rather than getting a new wireless router, you should consider getting a wired router and a WAP (wireless access point).  The advantage of this setup is that you can unplug the WAP when your business is closed.  This would guarantee that, should the wireless security ever fail, at least it would fail during business hours, and you would be likely to notice it.
Alternatively, you could just shut down the wireless router when your business is closed.
If you decide to stay with a wireless router, you should also consider the WRT54GL.  This router has a good record of reliability and is a favorite of those who want to use 3rd party firmware, such as DD-WRT.
    Hope this helps.

  • Disable wireless in airport express?

I really just want to use the airport express for airtunes, played over the ethernet. I already tried putting a wireless router near the tv and stereo, but it interfered with my antenna signal. Can I disable the airport express wireless capability without using a screwdriver and hammer?

Yes, I use to switch the wireless off on my Time Capsule when I didn't need it. Since picking up an AirPort Express to use as a printer server, I need them both on now. Again, open AirPort Utility. It should list AirPort Express (and in my case Time Capsule, as well). Click Wireless and set to off.

  • How do I use the airport express to connect a remote PC via ethernet cable and access the internet via wireless connection, How do I use the airport express to connect a remote PC via ethernet cable and access the internet via wireless connection

Trying to connect my xbox to the airport express. Have wireless in home and do not have a ethernet point behind tv/xbox. How do I configure the airport express to connect to my wireless network and then the airport express can use its connection via ethernet to connect the xbox to the internet.

Is your AirPort Express Base Station (AX) a 802.11n model? If it is, you can reconfigure it as a wireless Ethernet bridge or ProxySTA. This would allow the AX to join another wireless network and have its Ethernet port enabled for wired clients, like the Xbox 360.
To activate ProxySTA, you must set up the Express to join a wireless network and then enable the Allow Ethernet Clients setting; both settings are located in the Wireless tab of AirPort Utility.

  • How to set up the airport express with a linksys wireless-g broadband router

I need to know if and how to set up an airport express to use to extend a home wi-fi network. I have AT&T service with a 2WIRE modem. I am using a Linksys wireless-G broadband router. I also have the new Macbook Air notebook. The airport express keeps giving me a blinking amber light even when the ethernet cable (from the modem) connected. Please let me know how to set up an extended wifi network using this system. Any help would be appreciated.

If that is all that is done, the Express would not provide more wireless coverage.  Instead, it would duplicate the coverage provided by the Linksys and there would be two WiFi systems covering approximately the same area.  As per my above comment, one Express connects via Ethernet to the Linksys.  The second Express provides the extension.
You must have misunderstood what I was saying.
Linksys is providing a wireless network.
The Express is connected to one of the LAN ports on the Linksys router using a long Ethernet cable (or Ethernet powerline adapters)
The Express is located on the other side of the house, for example.
The Express is configured to create a wireless network using the same wireless network name, security and password as the Linksys router
The Express is configured in Bridge Mode
This has worked quite well for me for years. Computers "switch" from one wireless access point to another smoothly and automatically while they move around the house.
Although this is an "extended" network, it is technically known as a "roaming" network.
This is what I was suggesting as a possible alternative without having to buy more hardware.

  • How can I use an Airport Express to join my wireless network and provide an internet signal to my Power Mac g5 via an ethernet cable?

I have a power mac g5 that does not have a wireless card, and connects to the internet via ethernet cable.
I want to know how to set up an airport express so that it joins my wireless home network and provides the G5 with an internet signal.
This via an ethernet cable that is plugged  into the airport express and then into the ethernet port on the g5.
Please advise as I have configured the airport express in every way possible, the green light is on and when I plug the ethernet cable into the G5 my network cofigurations shows nothing and says that the ethernet cable is not plugged in (It is).
I get an internet signal if the ethernet cable is plugged directly into my wireless router, so the ethernet port works.
    Please assist. Thanks.

Two requirements that must be met to do what you want.......
    1) An AirPort Express 802.11n must be used. Check the Model No on the label on the side of the Express. It needs to be A1264. Any other model number will not do what you want.
    2) The Express must be configured to "Join a wireless network" and the option to enable Ethernet Clients must be checked.
Open AirPort Utility and click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab below the row of icons
The box to "Allow Ethernet Clients" must be checked
Please check to verify that your AirPort Express meets both requirements

  • How can I disable wireless admin privileges to the router ?

I am using an Airport Utility for Windows for Airport Extreme. For the sake of better security, how can I disable wireless admin privileges to the router so that the router can only be configured via hardwire connection?

For the sake of better security, how can I disable wireless admin privileges to the router so that the router can only be configured via hardwire connection?
Sorry, but this is not possible.
If you want to limit access to administration of the router, you should change the Base Station password, and only give out that password to those individuals that you want to have access to the administration settings of the router.
The forums have been having problems displaying screenshots, but we will attach one below in the hopes that the problems may be fixed.
Important Note.......even with this,  "security" on the AirPort routers is an illusion.......since a one second press on the reset button will give any user 5 minutes of free access to go in and change any settings that they want.
So, you might want to keep any eye on things.

Please, provide me how to disable password complexity rules at application express 4.2 installation.
    Best Regards,
    Moustafa

According to the manual you need to check "Configuring Password Protection" in Oracle Database Security Guide
In the security guide http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/network.111/b28531.pdf, section 3-9/p61, you'll see you need to alter the script UTLPWDMG.SQL. You''l find the script in ORA_HOME/rdbms/admin.
You'll need to change the script to your own liking.

Mozilla would not have installed Outook Express on your computer, they do not offer Microsoft programs. This would have been something that you or somebody using your computer would have installed.
Check the Windows control panel add/remove programs for Outlook Express, you should be able to uninstall it from there.
