How to dismiss alarm when phone is locked

Hi,
My employer imposes phone lock in order to access Exchange Activesync.
Today I used an alarm as a reminder. After reaching the time, it souded and screen showed Dismiss and Snooze dialog.
No option on the screen was working. I could only snooze by using a physical button but was not able to dismiss.
Swipe from the top activated bedside mode, while the dialog remained on the screen.
Swipe from the bottom showed the lock, but no password prompt. The alarm dialog remains.
I was able to move on only by holding the power key and selecting 'Restart'.
OS 10.2.1.3014. Is this a bug or did I overlook something?
Thanks

You will have to put it in Recorery mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US and Restore it in iTunes.

  • How Do I stop the phone from locking while the navigation program is running.

I have a Blackberry 9630 V4.7.1.40. The phone is on an enterprise server network through work. The phone is set to password lock after a couple of min. of non-use. When I have the Sprint Navigation program running, the phone locks after a few min and loses my satellite. I then have to type in a password to unlock it and I then get the signal back.
I called Sprint and they said to press a button after every couple of min. to keep the phone "active". That sounds a little fishy to me!
How do I keep the phone from locking while the Nav. Application is running?
    Thank you for your help

Agreed, that is the simplest thing to do... probably much easier than talking your IT guys into raising your timeout.

  • Toast is not redirecting to specific page when phone is locked in windows phone 8 application

I subscribed to toast notifications to my windows phone 8 chat application..
It is redirecting to specific page when i minimize the app and close the app.
But in following scenario it is not redirecting..
I opened app and then i locked the phone.
I got notification then i clicked on toast.
It is not redirecting to that page i specified.
When i look into rootframe_navigating event in app.xaml.cs, i found that the notification uri is not coming when we lock the phone when app is opened.
I hope you understand the scenario.
Is that bug or should i do anything for redirecting when phone is locked also?
    Waiting for the reply.
    Thanks!

If you placed it in lost mode to lock it, sign into icloud.com, click on lost mode and turn it off.  If it is locked with Activation lock you'll have to provide the password for the iCloud ID you are being prompted for in order to use it.

  • I have a frustrating problem with my iPhone 5 post ios8 installation. The ring tone won't sound when phone is locked/switched off, although the vibration does work. I think it has something to do with "do not disturb"

Hi, I have a frustrating problem that seems to have occurred post iOS 8 installation. When my iphone5 is switched off the ring tone fails to sound i only get the vibration. If i am using my phone and a have an incoming call then the ring tone works as normal. I think it has something to do with "do not disturb" ... i see from the menu in "do not disturb" that under the heading "silence" there are two options "always" and "only when the phone is locked" This does not seem to make sense as i have to choose one or the other!
If anybody can help advise me on this problem i would be very grateful.
    Thanks

    Hello Mogulman46,
So what that means is when you have Do Not Disturb turned on, you may have an alert depending on the setting and how you are using your iPhone. So if it is set to Always, then that means that no matter what, your iPhone will not be notified. If it set to Only while the iPhone is locked, then that means that you will not get notification when your iPhone is locked but you will get notifications if your iPhone is being used. Also keep in mind the settings All Calls From can be set to certain contacts like Favorites, Everyone or no one. If you are using Do Not Disturb and you do not need it, then turn it off.
Use Do Not Disturb on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  • Iphone 5 notifications (vibrations) for messages different when phone is locked vs. in conversation. Why?

I have had my iphone for more than 6 months now.  The other day, I had to restore my phone from new to solve a different problem.  Prior to the restore, my phone was set to 1 single, short vibration for most messages, with a custom vibration of 2 short vibes for one specific contact.  Since restoring my phone, I set up my notifications in the same way.
The problem I have encountered is: when the phone is locked and a message is received, the vibrations work as desired.  When the message arrives while a conversation is open, I get two short vibrations regardless of who the message is from. This is driving me crazy, because I am so used to two vibrations meaning a message from one particular person.  I don't recall what notification I got prior to the restore when conversations were open, my phone may not have vibrated at all when the conversation was open.  I don't really care if I get 1 vibration or none, but the two vibrations has got to stop.  Does anyone know where/how I can adjust this?
    Thanks!

When you "delete" some kinds of items from the iPhone, they don't actually get deleted. Instead, they're marked for deletion by the operating system and hidden so that they appear deleted. But they're still on the phone. Only when you sync your iPhone with iTunes are they truly deleted.
As far as I know, there are only a couple ways to truly and permanently delete SMS messages from your iPhone:
Sync - Since syncing with iTunes is what actually erases items you've marked for deletion. If you delete an SMS on your iPhone and then sync your iPhone, the message really will be gone for good.
Remove Messages from Spotlight Search - Your deleted SMS messages can't appear in a Spotlight search if Spotlight isn't looking for them in the first place. You can control what apps Spotlight searches in and which it ignores. To check this:
From your home screen, tap Settings
    Tap General
Scroll about halfway down the screen and tap Spotlight Search
Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Messages to uncheck it.

  • When phone is locked can I see the caller ID before I choose to answer?

It appears that when the phone is locked and you receive a call the only option is to slide to answer or ignore it using the power key. However, before deciding what to do, can I see the caller ID? when the phone is not locked the caller ID comes through but when its locked it does not.
    Thank you for your help

If your phone is "locked", AKA sleeping, and you receive a call, you should be able to see the Caller ID before answering.
There should never be a time where the Caller ID is not shown, unless it is a blocked ID.

  • How do you prevent your phone from locking during voice calls?  Mute/unmute features?  Are there any?  Please help?

Here is the problem - I am often on conference calls.  My company, for security reasons requires that I use the lock phone feature.  However, I will be on a call, I have muted myself, then the phone locks.  I then have to key in my password, and unmute my phone.  This prevents me from "jumping in" the conversation appropriately.  I either sound like I'm not paying attention or worse, I'm talking over someone else and seem rude.  I have tried to search for any of the following features on the iphone 5 c.
Prevent phone from locking during phone calls
Set a button on the phone as mute/unmute
Find a headset that has a mute/unmute feature
I am not the only one at my company struggling with this so I'm thinking others might be too and that there is a solution!
    Please help!
    Thank you.

Sounds like you need to upgrade to the iPhone 5s
    The 5s has Touch ID
You can unlock your phone with your finger instead of typing in a key code
No swiping to unlock either, just touch the home button
You can enrol multiple fingers as well
Here is a video of it in action
    http://www.apple.com/iphone-5s/videos/#video-touch
Or wait and see what iPhone 6 has to offer
That being said, as desiel vdub posted if the phone is up to your face, the proximity sensor should turn the screen off
And when you lower the phone turn it back on again
Not sure about the phone locking when your on a call doesn't sound right

  • How to disable alarms when iCal is off

    Hi all,
I might be missing something here, but I believe there used to be two settings to turn off alarms in 10.4 and 10.5:
    1) disable all alarms
    2) disable alarms when iCal is off
Did option 2) disappear in 10.6? I am really missing this feature.
    Thanks for your insights

I too would like to know a way around this problem. In the prior version of iCal, you could enable alarms only when iCal was running. I routinely sync three computers, sometimes hours to days apart. So unless I remember to turn alarms off prior to shutting down the machines, the alarms are not properly updated upon syncing when an idle machine is turned back on.
Hope this makes sense. Either way, it would have been better if Apple had not gotten rid of this feature in the new iCal.
    Eddie

  • Iphone 6 plus Notification in landscpe mode when phone is locked condition

I have iphone 6 plus iphone. When I keep phone in landscpe mode in locked condition; I want to see notification in landscpae mode for application like email, phone, messege etc. which I have enabled in notofication centre.
I observed all notification in lock mode comes in portrait orintation. Is this possible.

For me, it was as simple as that lock button, which I'd not noticed before, but yes, a hard restart usually fixes most issues.  I did a restart first, so it spooked me when even that didn't work; which is why I posted.
I've also downloaded 8.2 and feel that it has fixed a few bugs I'd noticed.  love the phone too.  My case finally came, it's the Griffin Reveal; picked it up from that big online retailer.
The Plus has had some tough press for some reason, but I love it!

    Hi mate,
Sorry what carrier are you with? You will have to ask them if you are locked to them or not. If you are saying that they have a whole bunch of their apps installed on the phone, my guess is that is locked to them. As I've said though, would pay to check with them, and also when you ask to get it unlocked, try another carrier's SIM card with them and ask about things like if the tethering has been unlocked etc, as carriers can sometimes lock this too, unbeknown to the user.
