How to display images on a servlet generated page???

Hi, I am developing an app in which I must display some messages, each message may have an image. The images are saved in the database. I do not want to save the image on the filesystem but instead of that I want to send the image as an attribute to the page but I dont know then how to display it. I have no idea about how to do that! Any help on this would be very appreciated!

mmm yes I know that the img tag displays an image but I am asking how to display the image without saving the file into the server filesystem, I mean something like:
1.- getting the bytes from the Database
2.- getting an Image object
3.- pasing it to the request as an attribute
4.- getting that attribute from the request
5.- displaying it on somehow directly from the image var or something.
the src parameter of the img tag takes as a string the path of the image, but i dont want to save it.

The <img> tag doesn't necessarily require storing the image on the server. You can just as easily do this:
<img src="/servlet/imageServlet" width="320" height="240" alt="My image" />

How to display images on my internal isight?

Hi,
I just bought the new iMac 2 gig dual. Running on 10.5.2.
I wanted to know how to display images on my screen during a video conference chat without resorting to holding up a print out to the camera? I need something where I can switch from video mode to image mode and show a single image at a time if I need to. All that while still talking of coarse. If it isn't possible with my iSight software, can you point me to other software I can download and still use my built in cam?

Look for Help or Support information on the site you are using or ask the Webmaster if his site has the capability to do what you want.

Your question is certainly lacking some information.

I am now designing an application using Oracle Portal to maintain a company's employee records.
The application allows HR personnels to input employee information such as name, gender, age and so on. In additional, a photo of 250x300 will be uploaded to database as well.
The application allows hr personnels to query the database for employees and the photos will be displayed on web.
I will use JDeveloper for the development. I want to know how to display the photos on the web in Portlet?

Well at the end of the line its still plain old html that is used to display images, to display an image in html (correct me if im wrong) the image has to be in the webfolder (or it can be a servlet that generates an image)
You are getting the image from a database, so you need a servlet that gets this image and converts it to a format the html tag < img src="..." > understands.
To be honest I never done this, but Im curious how you will do it.
You could also try to use AJAX and load the image dynamically, you'll still need a servlet though. You must also understand that a portlet differs a little bit from a servlet, portlet need a portal to run, servlet can run on its own.

so much wrong with this post...
a) use the code tags to format the code. Now it is an unreadable mess
b) scriptlets in your JSP. I don't even want to look at that mess. Learn how to combine servlets and JSPs to create clean, readable and maintainable code in which view logic and business logic are separated. The rule: no java code in your JSP, only tags and EL expressions (learn about JSTL).
So you get a blank screen. When you do "view source" in your browser, do you see anything there? If nothing, check if you are behind a proxy server. The solution to a post of not too long ago was that the blank screen was being caused by faulty proxy server settings (the user figured it out himself, I don't know what was done to solve it).
If all this fails you will have to do some debugging magic using your favorite IDE. It will probably be something stupid you are overlooking in the code. It is annoying, but debugging code that does not work is a big part of your job. Better get good at it.

Hi Nitin,
It can be done by adding to the table the Image control (can be found under Advanced Controls in the Compose panel).
In the URL property (in the Configure panel of the Image control) you can define any expression that will return the image URL. For example:

I found out that I can't include both the "setContentType("image/gif")" and the "setContentType("text/html")" in a servlet. I've tried different methods, but I can't get it right.

I beg your pardon? You want to send text and image in the same response? Can't be done. If you go and look at pretty much any HTML page on the web you will see how to include images in HTML.
