How to display selected value in MessageChoice

HI,
I have a messageChoice on my Update screen. I need to display the selected value when the user comes to update the data on the screen. In the Process Request when i am printing the stmt
System.out.println("The type of bean is PortletItemID::"+webBean.findIndexedChildRecursive("PortletItemID"));
The output is The type of bean is PortletItemID:: OAFormValueBean
How can i set the value that is coming from database in order to show the selected value in the message choice when the user is coming to the screen for updating the data.

In my case, i have mentioned the value in picklist View Definition ,picklist display attribute and picklist Value attribute. Where should i be providing my database value so that i can compare and display it as selected value.

Just noticed that setDefaultValue method seems to be deprecated. Instead use setSelectionValue(OAPageContext pageContext, String selectionValue) .

You have a datatable in which each row is a question, correct?
Also in each row you have 5 possible answers that are in a radio, correct?
So,
You need to put in your datatable model, a question, and a list of answers (5 in yor case) and the selected one.
So you will have a get to the question, an SelectItem[] list to populate the radios and another get/set to the selected question.
ex:

To identify the user's selection(s) when the page is submitted, you would add the following logic to your processFormRequest() method:

To retrieve all the values in the list box, call list.getOptionsData().

do it like this :
1 Place ur UI element in tranparent container with Layout as Row Data and Layout Data as Row Head Data
2 Ur first UI , which contains the first value as Row Head Data ,
3 Others as Row Data
u can do it with Matrix Data as well
if u want to give space , u can use HORIZONTAL GUTTER and set its width to medium / large / Xlarge
also there is a UI element "INVISIBLE ELEMENT" ,
1 u can use this UI element to provide space between ur other UI elements in the view
2 u can insert a text element as well , and in the Text property of the element press ALT + 0160.
u can give the space bw UIs as desired.

It is looking like you are saving them as workbooks. It will be possible to maintain fliters if you save with the filters given by workbook properties, not by manual feeding.

You can do this method. In the screen , create a text field of CHAR instead fo creating an INT4 field.
I have created a field of CHAR of name say TEXT.
In the main program,
declare a variable of the same name ie. TEXT.
data: TEXT(5) TYPE C.
In PBO, just assign the negative values.
It will work.Since there is automatic conversion between character and integer data types, it will work for positive values as well.

How to get selected-value of dropdown-field in alv ?

I have a alv-table with dropdown-field.
When I open the dropdown I am able to select another value.
Now I use method ON_CLICK with ON_CELL_ACTION, and when
I change value in my alv, system jumps into this mehtod.
But how do I get now the selected dropdown value in this method ?

I suggest you read oracle documentation about TO_CHAR function and number format models.

Additional Field Infoset - how to display multiple values

I have created an extra field in an infoset and I can succesfully retrieve the value I need (with coding), only now I loop over a selection and then the last value that is retrieved is being displayed. How can you display all values of the selection, so you get several lines in the output?

I have a item list box and i have 3 enteries in it .If suppose i click on the first entry with out the action being called it displays the message but the same case is not getting happened with multiple value selection..means when i am clicking all the three fields none of the value is getting displayed. There is no action or no button created in for displaying the value which u click on.Can you tell me how to go on with this???

How to display Prompt values in Narrative

Using 11.1.1.6.2
Within a dashboard page I have a table with a dimension hierarchy for organization. If you click a division it runs an action link to call a browser script (javascript in a text section on the dashboard) passing the division. If you expand the division and click a market it calls the same javascript function.
The Javascript function then uses Go Path to refresh an analysis within an iFrame on the dashboard page and passes either the Division value or the Market value.
The target analysis has two filters: Division is prompted and Market is prompted.
So after all that my question is how could I display the two passed values from the Go Path call in a narrative on the target analysis? Or I guess the alternative question is how to display the filter values on the narrative.
Sorry for the long explanation, but hopefully this makes sense.

Use @n to include the results from the designated column in the narrative. For example, @1 inserts the results from the first column
Assuming you want to show the selected value for Division from prompt.
Add Division column in the report criteria and call it @1, where 1 is position of Division column
You may hide the Division column from report, if you dont have to show in the report
