How to display Site Title in Address Bar History

Titles of sites are displayed in the History drop-down menu, but when I start typing in the Address Bar only the URLs of matching sites are displayed, not the names. This is really frustrating if you have a site like a forum with a numbering scheme:
forum.site.com/forum.php?1
forum.site.com/forum.php?2
etc...
Firefox displays the site titles like this:
forum.site.com/forum.php?1 Help Forum
forum.site.com/forum.php?2 General Forum
etc...
Is there any way to make Safari (3) behave like Firefox in this respect?

Brian, I understand your frustration.
Just a note. I use QuickSilver a lot, and its Safari plugin module has some form of bookmark and history searching involving page titles. I don't use it myself, but I know that it's available. I understand it's not what you're looking for exactly, but it might be a viable workaround if you care to explore it more than I have.

  • How to Display Full URL in Address Bar?

I'm using Firefox 14.0.1 on a new computer running Windows 7 Home Edition. I cannot for the life of me figure out why my URLs are getting truncated. For instance, right now, all I can see in my address bar for this website is "https://support.mozil;" if I type in yahoo.com I end up with "http://www.yahoo.co." I can scroll through in the address bar to see the rest of the URL, but I'd like to see the whole thing at once!
I know you can type about:config into the address bar and change the value of browser.urlbar.trimURLs to false, but I tried that and it doesn't do a thing. I have Firefox on my old computer, and it's not giving me the issue there. So perhaps I have an interfering plugin? The only new thing I have on this system is HP SimplePass (I can't stand HP software). Anyone know what might be causing the issue?

I, too, had the truncated URL in the address bar. (Firefox 16.0.2 on Windows 7 Home Premium)
    These measures did not help:
    # about:config and change browser.urlbar.trimURLs to false
    # Help > Troubleshooting Information > Reset Firefox
    This measure did help:
    # uninstall HP SimplePass
I had had the full URL in the address bar while running HP SimplePass, so I do not believe that they are inherently incompatible. I'm just saying these measures, in this order, gave me back the full URL.

  • In IE, hitting the 'F4' button would cause a 'dropdown' menu of recent web sites in the address bar; what is the Firefox equivalent of this?

Hitting 'F4' in IE would display recently visited web sites under the address bar. This made it easy to use the keyboard (rather than the mouse); once the list web sites appeared, you could use the cursor buttons to move to the site you wanted, and hit enter. I can't find a similar feature in Firefox; instead, I have to mouse up to the Awesome Bar, click the little down arrow, and choose.

  • When clicking on privious sites in the address bar drop down Firefox has started to just reload the current page, is there a fix?

Until recently I could click on resent sites in the address bar drop down, but now it just reloads the current page (still shows icons and addresses for the sites I'm clicking on). I've tired clearing history and cache, is this a known bug?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

  • Address bar history won't work

Hi, I recently updated one of my add-ons (I believe it was Adobe Flash) and now my address bar history won't work. My history is being recorded, but I can't jump back to previously visited pages via the address bar.
This only happened yesterday, if anybody can offer a solution, well thanks.

  • How do I delete visited sites from my address bar.

I can't delete visited websites from my address folder and if I type in a website other websites pop up. I had it set for private browsing but that doesn't work either. I've cleared the history to no avail. I've delete some of the websites if they were in my bookmarks...nothing changed. I had installed "Hide Unvisited" add-on but I can't on Firefox 3.6.3 I don't know what to to, I worked fine before but now it doesn't.

  • How to detach refresh button from address bar in the new UI of FF29?

IN FF28 it was possible to detach the refresh button from the address bar, but now the whole address bar is just one element. I am really used to have the button on the left side and not on the right side of the screen. I would love to have the opportunity back again to separate them!
    Best,
    Robin

Firefox is just caught up in the industry wide disease of simplifying their user interface to satisfy the needs of mobile device users. It's probably true that they make up the vast majority of users. It is troubling that this trend ruins the experience for the few of us that still use powerful computers with huge and multiple display screens.
As a developer of web pages, I often go through a cycle of looking at a web page I am developing, tweaking it, and refreshing the browser. No matter how many times I just proofread the content, I still find mistakes that need correction. So the view, correct, refresh cycle is so frequent that I need it to be efficient with well placed controls to accomplish the cycle.
I don't mind making the GUI extremely simple for the majority of users, but I am upset with how often these "improvements" make it difficult for the experienced user/developer to use the tool in the way that suits them.

  • How to display Spool title in custom format.

    Hi
When SForm goes to Spool by default it display the title based on <PrinterName> <Report> <UserName>, i need a solution where i can customize the title before it goes to spool. So that i can make difference this spool with others  while compare to titles. Well i tried with FM GET_PRINT_PARAMETERS, but not sure how far it can help in my case.
Please let me know the possible ways.
    Thanx.

    Hi,
The associated function module for the smart form contains an import paramter called OUTPUT_OPTIONS.
    OUTPUT_OPTIONS-TDDATASET : Spool request: Name
    OUTPUT_OPTIONS-TDSUFFIX1 : Spool request: Suffix 1
    OUTPUT_OPTIONS-TDSUFFIX2 : Spool request: Suffix 2
Just assign the value to the structure field OUTPUT_OPTIONS-TDDATASET .
    Thanks,

  • Why can I no longer just type the name of a site in the address bar and be taken straight to it?

Now instead of being taken to the site I get taken to a google search result. It was such a convenient feature...is there something I need to change settings wise?

-> Tap ALT key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
-> go to Help Menu -> select "Restart with Add-ons Disabled"
Firefox will close then it will open up with just basic Firefox. Now do this:
-> go to View Menu -> Toolbars -> select Menu Bar and Navigation ToolBar -> unselect All Unwanted toolbars
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Content -> place Checkmarks on:
    1) Block Pop-up windows 2) Load images automatically 3) Enable JavaScript
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Privacy -> History section -> '''Firefox will: select "Use custom settings for history"''' -> REMOVE Checkmark from "Permanent Private Browsing mode" -> place CHECKMARKS on:
    1) Remember my Browsing History 2) Remember Download History 3) Remember Search History 4) Accept Cookies from sites -> select "Exceptions..." button -> Click "Remove All Sites" at the bottom of "Exception - Cookies" window
4a) Accept Third-party Cookies -> under "Keep Until" select "They Expire"
-> REMOVE CHECKMARK from CLEAR HISTORY WHEN FIREFOX CLOSES
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Security -> place Checkmarks on:
    1) Warn me when sites try to install add-ons 2) Block reported attack sites 3) Block reported web forgeries 4) Remember Passwords for sites
-> Click OK on Options window
-> click the Favicon (small drop down menu icon) on Firefox SearchBar (its position is on the Right side of the Address Bar) -> click "Manage Search Engines" -> select all Unwanted Search Engines and click Remove -> click OK
    -> go to Tools Menu -> Add-ons -> Extensions section -> REMOVE All Unwanted/Suspicious Extensions (Add-ons) -> Restart Firefox
You can enable your Known & Trustworthy Add-ons later. Check and tell if its working.

  • How to display a message on status bar while an LOV is active?

    Hi,
Can any suggest me that how can I display my custom message on the status bar of my form, while an LOV is displayed on the screen.
I populate an LOV in an Item in the form. I need my status bar to display a message while my LOV is Displayed and also this message to be there on the screen when we moves between the records on the LOV.
This can be partially achieved by 'message' built-in, but the text message so displayed disappears as soon as u move between the records displayed by the LOV.I want this to be retain there even when we move between records(the data displayed in the LOV) in LOV.
    Can anyone suggest the solution?
    Many thanks in advance.
    Cheers
    Naresh

  • How to delete unwanted addressee from address bar?

When I want to send an e mail and want to type in the addressee in the address bar as soon as I type the first letter my addressee will appear in the address bar but so will others I did not put there.
How can I delete the unwanted ones?

Both applications are made by Mozilla.
Thunderbird is the email application and Firefox is the Web browser application.
In the future, I suggest posting Thunderbird email questions to the Thunderbird forums:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/products/thunderbird/get-community-support
You begin typing an address and the auto-complete feature offers addresses that you would like to remove.
Go to the Thunderbird Home screen and select '''Address Book''' at the top.
Then select '''Collected Addresses''' on the left-hand side.
Select the address you would like to remove and then click on '''Delete'''.
Also check the '''Personal Address Book''' to make sure the address you want to remove is not listed there too.

  • Anyone figured out how to get rid of the address bar tooltips??

I asked this about a year ago. One guy responded with some editing tips using the developer tools, but did not mention how to get to the files to edit them (he was recommending using Interface Builder). I cannot understand why there isn't a preference setting to disable all tooltips in Safari. I find them to be extremely annoying & want them to go away. So, if anyone knows how to make them disappear, your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
**NOTE** I am not referring to the information popus that are part of some web pages (although it would be nice to eliminate those as well). I am referring to the little yellow rectangles that pop up when you hover over things like the stop button, refresh button, address bar, etc. I do not need to be told what those buttons or areas do, so I want this annoyance gone. **NOTE**

Have a look at this macosxhints Forum thread. Otherwise, I haven't seen a way to remove these annoying pop-ups. I've sent feedback to Apple in the past. Perhaps you might want to add your voice via this link.

  • How do I get the navigation/address bar in the "about" pages?

My title describes it. If possible, I'd like to have the navigation /address bar in about:addons, about:preferences etc. pages. If anybody has an idea, I'd love for you to post back. :-)
    (Fx 27 on Windows 8.1 x64)

Firefox shows the Navigation Toolbar for me on Linux when tabs are not on top (i.e. browser.tabs.onTop pref = false).<br />
Current Firefox versions only show the "Tabs on Top" menu entry in the "View > Toolbars" and "Firefox > Options" menu and in toolbar context menus if the tabs aren't in the default position on top.
Note that this pref will no longer have effect once the Australis code lands on the release channel (the Australis code is currently only on the Nightly update channel in the current 29.0a1 version).
