How to do a BO Enterprise XI 3.1 homogeneous system copy ?

Dear colleagues, hello SAP,
we plan do move a BO Enterprise XI 3.1 system on Windows 2003 to new hardware by reinstalling the software and moving the database with backup / restore. Is this the correct procedure? Many thanks for help.

There are a couple of ways to do this:
1. Leave the old hardware with the database up and running. Install the software with a new database. After the install is complete, stop the SIA, go to the Configuration tab and click on the Specify button and select "Copy from another Data Source". This will then copy the data over to the new database.
2. Backup/Restore the database PRIOR to installing the software. During the installation, use this database for you CMS connection and be sure to uncheck the box at the bottom of the db connection screen that says something about clearing or recreating the data source.
Also, if you haven't redirected the File Repository servers to use a folder on the network, you will have to copy over the FileStore folder to the new server in order to get all of the reports, universes, etc. that were in your original install.

I can't figurate how to list all the root directories
(C:/> , D:/>, E:/> etc.) in a system.
I know how to recursively check the content of a
directory and all its subdirectories when a
predefined path is defined. However what I' d like to
do is actually give the option to pick one of the
root directories to start the iteration. I have been
looking around but I can' really find anything
helpful.
If any of you has any idea on how to achieve the

2. We are already using the lated Installtion master.

How to find old hostname remained in new system after system copy

Hello all,
Let me ask you about changing hostname during system copy.
I've finished homogeneous system copy. I changed its hostname and did not change its SID.
I know we should check and modify RFC destination(SM59), logon group(SMLG), SAPconnect(SCOT), operation mode(SM04) and instance profiles after system copy with changing hostname.
But my customer also used hostname for variant. I overlooked.
Then they require me to provide how to find old hostname in whole system ...
Do you have any good tools or idea? Any advice would be appreciated.

If u have not deleted the inactive profiles in the tcode RZ10, you can find the old hostname in the instance profile.
Also if u have not deleted the entries in the tables TPFET and TPFHT, u can find the old hostname here in these tables also.

For running the Adobe application You need to configure some thing in both Java as well as in ABAP stack for that abobe form application to work. You need to do some configuration in the Visual administrator for Java & also in the ABAP stack sidi using your SAP user id line creating ADSUSER , ADS_AGENT user id creation and roles assignment and RFC destination creation etc..
Just refer these documents for the installation and post-configuration of Adobe Document Service on NW2004s.

I know I can read out the custom fields for tasks like this and I am also able to get the project name.

How to install Oracle 11gR2 Enterprise Ed. DBCA side by side with stand ed

I currently have an installation of Oracle11gR2 standard edition on linux red hat. I needed to have a side-by-side oracle 11gR2 install with enterprise edition on the same server. I installed the database components successfully. I tried running DBCA but it created the new database as standard edition even though the database was created in the new 11gR2 enterpsie edtion directory. I'm a newbie at this, but I'm assuming this is because the DBCA is the standard edition DBCA. So, my questions are: do I need to install the client components for 11gR2 enterprise edition? Will the DBCA created override the standard edition version even if I put it in the new 11gR2 enterprise edition home? Thanks in advance.

Note: You already have installed SE, let say the home is /u01/app/product/11.2.0/db_home1
Now create a new oracle home, let say /u01/app/product/11.2.0/db_home_ee
Now $cd /tmp/database
$./runInstaller ORACLE_HOME_NAME="Ora11gR2_EE"
It starts the installer, pass through all the checks and Select Database Edition, EE.
How after the database binaries are installed correctly;
Run
$export ORACLE_SID=<NEW SID>
$export ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/product/11.2.0/db_home_ee
$export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATH
$dbca

I assume the decision of changing software is due to some specific requirements regarding the information for the actual customer. So the question should probably focus on an analyse of what kind of information the new system should cover and how to provide it, rather than having a focus around a technical solution. If you just migrate to another software you will not take in to consideration the new specific advantages in that new software.

How to findout which Tibco adaptor is used in our system?

Hi All,
In our system ,which is a Java enterprise application ,Tibco adaptor is used to connect to the database.
That adaptor is going to be upgraded. I would like ot do a technical research on that. But im new to the system.
Could anyone help me ,how to findout which Tibco adaptor is used in our system?

There's nothing stopping you from using the generated sequence for something else, however you can NOT override it when doing an insert (as long as you've specified ALWAYS which is the default).
