How to do a left join to create a timesheet status report in Power View

I am trying to create a very simple report in power view for Project Online. It's a timesheet status report that should show a list of resources, and the current status of their timesheet (in progress, not started, etc).
In Excel, I created an odata connection with Resources and Timesheets, and set up the connection between them. So, I can now easily display a list of timesheets, and filter them by end date. Good. But this only displays rows where there is an existing timesheet.
So resources who have not started a timesheet are not displayed. So, I need a "left join" in power view to display all resources, whether or not they have a timesheet for the period. (and, for the ones that do, I need to display fields from the timesheet,
such as the status description.)
Any suggestions?

I'm not sure of what I'm suggesting since I got no instance to test it, but I'm wondering if the OLAP Cube "MSP_Project_Timesheet" wouldn't contain all resources of the enterprise pool with assignments (and not only resources that already submitted
a timesheet) since it is a combination of the assignment timephased, resource timephased and EPM timesheet cubes.

How To do a LEFT JOIN in Oracle 8i

To explain my problem in a simple way: I have two tables, PROVA1 and PROVA2. Both have a primary key with two fields (CHIAVE1 amd CHIAVE2, numbers).
I have to search for all records in A but not in B. In Oracle 8 LEFT JOIN is not available and I do not Know how doing it.
I have read something about + operator, but I am not sure. What about:
Select * from PROVA1 P1, PROVA2 P2 where
(P1.CHIAVE1(+) = P2.CHIAVE1) and
(P1.CHIAVE2(+) = P2.CHIAVE2) and

Gaetano, you're really close.
The (+) sign goes near to the table where the records can be missed. In your example near P2 columns.

Creating a Form with Report based on View

Hi All,
I wanted to create a form with report based on two tables so:
1. I created a view (called COMBO) based on two tables
2. I then created a form with report based on the view
Everything seemed fine thus far until I tried to edit existing records - I got the error:
ORA-20505: Error in DML: p_rowid=2002082600001172, p_alt_rowid=REPATRIATION_ID, p_rowid2=, p_alt_rowid2=. ORA-01776: cannot modify more than one base table through a join view
Unable to process row of table COMBO.NB: REPATRIATION_ID is the primary key of the Repatriation table. The other table is Applicant.
& when I tried to create a new record - I got the error:
ORA-01776: cannot modify more than one base table through a join view
Unable to process row of table COMBO.Someone please enlighten me!

Hello Kamo,
You need to create an 'instead of' (update/insert/delete) trigger on your view to process the inserts etc into the 'real' tables.

How to create a form or report on a view or on a sql for update

Let's suppose to have this two tables:
BOOKS(title, author, id_tongue)
TONGUE(id_tongue, tongue)
where TONGUE contains (1, english), (2, french), ...
I want to create a report and a form (for inserting new books) so as to insert the right values in the two tables.
I've created a view VIEW_BOOKS(title, author, tongue) and an instead-of-trigger to update the two tables when inserting into the view itself. The problem is that with APEX it seems to me it's only possible to define a form or report on tables or on query and not on a view.
Any advice to give me? Or other solutions?

I have no issues in trying to help someone as polite as you! It is very nice to have questions answered in an intelligible manner - not unfortunately always the case.
Without being able to debug on your system it is quite difficult to say what might be causing this error - especially as you say this was working in a different system.
I'm sure you've already tried eliminating differences in your authorisations between the two systems? Are you registered as a developer in the new system?
Sorry I'm now just guessing as I've not come across the error myself - hopefully now that we have clearly documented the issue, someone else might be able to shed some light on what might cause it!

Creating Custom Theme for Power View Clustered columns chart

Helllo...
Is it possible to create custom theme for displaying clustered columns chart on Power View?
Basically I am looking to create chart with specific colors for the bars? For e.g. for High - RED, Medium - Orange and Low - Yellow color. When I look at themes available in Excel 2013 I don't see this combination as such, so I was looking to create one
myself.
I tried to create a theme using video on youtube, but the theme which I created is not showing up in Power View mode in excel 2013.

In Power View, it has several default theme colors for us to apply to our workbook. Also, we can change the Font, Text Size and Background of the chart. However, it is not support to design a custom theme color.
You can refer to the following steps to change the theme colors:
1. On the POWER VIEW tab, in the Themes group, click Themes.
2. Under Built-in, click the theme that you want to use.

How to create a left join view in se11??

I would like to create a view which contains KNA1,KONA,KNVV,KNVH(four tables) , I want to use this view to create a search help for Tcode 'VBO3'.

yes, in general, maint. view and help view could be created as outer join view.
but it should obey relationship.
my fourt tables:
KONA -
> I want to get agreement number and type from this table
KNA1 -
>I want to get customer name, city, country from this table
KNVH -
>I want to get customer hierarchy from this table.
KNVV -
>I want to get customer group 1 from this table.
but in help view, I can only get relationship between KONA and KNA1.
I could not find the relationship for KNVH and KNVV.
if it's required to add a search help exit, then how to write the code in the function?

How to generate a query involving multiple tables(one left join others)

I want to query a db like these:
I need all the demographics information(from table demo) and their acr info(from table acr), and their clinical info(from table clinical), and their lab info(from table lab).
The db is like this:
demo->acr: one to many
demo->clinical info: one to many
demo->lab info: one to many
I want to get one query result which are demo left join acr, and demo left join clinical, and demo left join lab. I hope the result is a record including demo info, acr info, clinical info, and lab info.
How could I do this in SQL?

Actually, I need a huge query to include all the tables in our db.
We are running a clinical db which collects the patients demographics info, clinical info, lab info, and many other information.
The Demographics table is a center hub which connects other tables. This is the main architecture.
My boss needed a huge query to include all the information, so others could find what they need by filtering.
As you have found, because one patients usually has multiple clinical/lab info sets, so the result will be multiplied! the number of result=n*m*k*...
My first plan is to set time point criteria to narrow all the records with one study year. If somebody needs to compare them, then I have to show them all.
So I have to know the SQL to generate a huge query including as many tables as possible.

How to make a customize form with optional parameter and left join

Hi,
I am trying to make a report with a left join. I also want ot have optional parameters in it.
I am using the Create Reports From SQL Query method:
SQL is :
select ename, sal
from scott.emp left join scott.dept
on scott.emp.deptno = scott.dept.deptno
where sal >= :lower_sal
and sal <= :higher_sal;
However, if I do it this way, I those 2 parameters are not optional.... How can I make them optional?
If I use the Create Reports From Query Wizard method, I can make the parameters optional, but then I cannot do the left join...

hi,
to catch null values on both sides I use:
where nvl(sal,0) >= nvl(:lower_sal,nvl(sal,0))
and nvl(sal,0) <= nvl(:higher_sal,9999999999)
otherwise there will be no rows in the report where the value of sal is null, even if there are no selection criteria entered.

we can do it in two ways
1. In web intelligence level on the query panel click the sql query and write the statement what ever u want there by modifying the existing statement.
2. In universe level select the fields in the two tables that you want to make join and create the join between two tables directly by joining field in table 1 to the field in the table 2 by drawing a line and double click on the line to view the join properties,then on join properties if we check the table 1 outer then it is left outer join if we check on table 2 outer then it will be the right outer join.after exporting the universe to the central sever we are now ready to use in web intelligence with out being changed anything in the sql query.

If you want to make join ,outer join, left join ,right join then its possible if you are using ODS or direct infoobject (In BW3.5) and if you are using BI7.0 then you also make join ,outer join, left join ,right join with Cube also.
For making join ,outer join, left join ,right join in infosets you just select your info provider then right click on your infoarea from context menu select info set after doing this one pop-up opens here u define your infoset technical name and give either ODS object name of infoobject name.
After doing this next screen opens in right hand side your selectes ODS or infoobject shows in graphical format .
and left hand side it shows one menu bar here you can select another ODS or infoobject for making join ,outer join, left join ,right join .just click on ODS button in menu bar and select ODS drag your selected ODS from Left to right after doing this your selected ODS shown in right hand side window in graphical format you just now after doing this you are able to make join ,outer join, left join ,right join for this first you select field from one ods and drag a line from 1 ods to second ods after doing this one arrow is created from one ods to another ods just right click on arrow and make join ,outer join, left join ,right join in to your ODS.

How to set up TimeCapsule (4th) to create own private (wired) network behind Airport Express (5th) that is set up to join existing wifi-network of fritz adsl modem/router?

I work in an office building with free Wifi to connect to the Internet. I want to be able to use this internetconnection, but at the same time I want to shield of my own wired network.
I've made the following configuration:
- fritz adsl modem / router
- Airport Extreme (5th gen) set up to join existing wireless network (green light, works)
- Lan-cable from lan-port AE to wan-port TC (4th gen)
- Lan-cable from TC to Mac
- Lan-cable from TC to Printer
When I set my TC (network-settings) in bridge-mode everything works fine, but my Mac and Printer get an IP-address from the fritz modem / router and are visible to others.
I tried to set TC in NAT/DHCP-mode, but then I get the error message that I should set a static IP-adress for TC. When I set TC in DHCP-mode, it looses connection to the AE. I'm not sure what to do now. Does anyone know how to set up my TC and create my own private network and still be able to get on the internet?

You are using free internet.. so there is a price to pay.. that is convenience and non-ideal network setup.
The better alternative is to pay for your own connection. Then you are completely free of the possibility of others in the bullding seeing your connection. (as long as you secure the wireless).
But I think you are probably over worrying about public wifi.. if it is setup right.. ask the building admins.. it should be setup so each user cannot see another users connection. This is typical for most wifi setup and simply means you can see internet connection but nobody else on the connection. ie other wireless users.
Having a router with NAT makes it then more secure again and allows clients on your own network to interact with each other. But you can setup wireless to the free wifi for every client.. (depending on how many IP you are allowed).. and run a secondary network without internet access. This is easy for desktop etc where you have a wireless and a wired connection but less convenient for mobile devices.. unless you use a cloud connection and each client can link and share via that.
Have I made the explanation worse??
Think of it this way.. if you had 3 laptops.. all 3 could connect to the internet from the building wifi.. but they cannot talk to each other or share resources in local office. You can put resources out in the cloud, that can be shared.. but that adds traffic and most free services are not fast.
Now you can also plug all three into Time Capsule by ethernet.. and share local resources. Files, printers backup etc. This network is not connected to the internet at all. Each laptop has internet via free wifi and local connection.
For devices like iphones that have no ethernet or other method.. you could use local wireless and public wireless.. but in turns.. still the only advantage is less issues with double NAT.. if that causes problems.. then this is an alternative.
